I’ve She’s got truffle brie, Boursin, manchego, extra mature crunchy cheddar… and oatcakes, cream crackers and cheddars.

Totally acceptable to open a new bottle of red to stay hydrated, yes?

TinselTitts · 26/12/2025 15:44

I remember Richard Madeley saying his daughter overdosed on cheese one Christmas, and had to have her stomach pumped?! 😱

EuroTour · 26/12/2025 15:45

@jen337 🤣 (I am correct though)

To much cheese ? I do not understand which language this is can somebody please translate.

I currently have
Pilgrims choice extra mature cheddar
Brie
Cambert ( to be baked then kept warm on candle food heater )
Cheddar with chilli
Soft cream cheese
Jar of Stilton

To go with that I have
2 types of crackers
Bread sticks
2 types of home made pickles
Grapes
Apple
2 types of olives
Hummus
Celery
Red onions

To drink
Red wine
Special reserve port
Guinness
Sake

I was planing on getting another cheese but didn't get around to it.

This is very similar to tonight’s supper at Aparecium Towers. (Except for the chilli cheese. Contaminating good cheese with bits of stuff is anathema.)

To answer the OP: no such thing as too much cheese.

ask her to add a few grapes to make her feel a bit healthy

user1476613140 · 26/12/2025 15:57

And to go with the cheeses...oatcakes! Nothing else will do. Especially seaweed and black pepper ones.

I have a question about Camembert- I bought some, and it didn’t smell in the shop fridge but when I put it in my fridge it stank it out. So I’ve wrapped it in foil and moved it to a plastic bag in the pantry. The whole pantry now reeks of dead bodies? How does one have Camembert in the house? And if you bake it does your whole house smell of dead bodies??

Bake it. It doesn’t smell and it goes sooooo oozy - in a good way!

Any suggestions, apart from mac and cheese, for using up the leftovers? Particularly the Brie and Boursin which won’t get through hand luggage airport security I suspect…

TragicMuse · 26/12/2025 16:13

I mean, it’s a bit light if you ask me…

I once had 12 kinds of cheese in the fridge. I was single. It wasn’t Christmas.

Do better OP. It’s like you aren’t even trying…

gingercat02 · 26/12/2025 16:17

We have cheddar, gorgonzola, Stilton, applewood, boursin, halloumi and camembert. Jacobs fancy crackers, Hovis digestives and water biscuits. Bottle of Rioja opened about an hour ago.
Tell your friend to crack on

gingercat02 · 26/12/2025 16:18

Oh and pate and cream cheese and smoked salmon just to break.up the cheese a bit
Forgot about the goat!

edwinbear · 26/12/2025 16:34

It doesn’t count as a Christmas cheeseboard without Vacherin!

CinnamonBuns67 · 26/12/2025 16:43

Wheres the wensleydale? Or the normal brie? I think what you need is more cheese and naturally more wine

Sunset6 · 26/12/2025 16:53

I once saw a whole supermarket-sized block of cheddar consumed in one sitting as part of a bet. He survived!

Never too much cheese or wine😃😋

I have bought cheese for myself , intended for this eve but we havent had dinner yet.

I have drunk nearly 2 bottles of mulled wine though.

Hairgician · 26/12/2025 17:03

You absolutely should make Welsh rabit, I am not sure cream cheese would work but all of the others will inc the rind off the brie and such like will work fine.
Chop it all up roughly and fairly small, beat in enough egg to very generous coat it and a healthy glug of Guinness or white wine , you want the mix to be thick but almost pourable, add some finely chopped spring onion/ shallots/ bog standered onion , plenty of black pepper ( no salt there is enough in the cheese)

If you have a proper grill toast one side of bread ( older bread works better ) very lightly toast the 2nd side then dollop a few tablespoons of the mixture on and grill untill lava hot.
If you don't have a grill butter two slices of bread on all four sides lightly fry one side of each in a very hot pan put the mix on the fried side of one slice plonk the other slice on fried side on the cheeses then fry the outside of the sandwich on both sides.

Don't blame me if you burn your tongue!
