Who got the worst gift?

Very very lighthearted. Some people are starving so no whining about not getting the perfect gift. Instead looking at it from a humoristic perspective: who got the worst gift in our family? Please add yours as well..
In our family;

  1. DH got 200 ml cologne while he wanted/needed 100 ml to bring with him on airplane (travels every week).
  2. I got fine chocolate with alcohol from uncle again (everyone has told him I do not like it but he just can't get it). He even added "I know you can't get enough of those". Not passive aggressive- that would be sinister. He really likes me and is convinced I like them.

Also got a large hand bag from DH. Not wildly expensive but still- the cords are too thin- I keep loads of stuff in my handbag. He bought it 3 months ago so can't return it.

  1. DS1 got a sort of a travel bag for mobile Phone to attach on bike from an aunt. He hasn't been riding his bike for years.

4.DS2 got a shirt of his favourite team that was so large on him it looked like a dress. Can't return it. Bil said he will grow in it😅

  1. Dh got Mil a a stylish coat size L. It was too small. Yet Mil isn't a big woman. I'm a medium and it was perfect on me but she's got bigger breasts. She wasn't happy about large being too small.. didn't say anything because very polite but it was obvious she was unhappy.
  1. Aunt got a big box of chocolate. She's on wli and barely eats anything. Def not chocolate. She discreetly passed them on to dh.

So who wins?

Mine have all been lovely, but I did get the same pair of shoes twice from my amazon wishlist 🤣 they don't know each other so will never find out!

My mil got me an old lady house coat. Akin to the picture attached. But it’s pink. 😶

My mum bought one of these for her neighbour… Who is 95

NotAnotherScarf · 25/12/2025 22:04

I got nothing that I hadn't bought myself. And the new watch I "got" doesn't work.

Not partners fault it's I'm so fussy it's just easier if I buy

BeMintFatball · 25/12/2025 22:05

@arcticpandas your MIL got the worst gift because it made her feel bad about her size.

Sugargliderwombat · 25/12/2025 22:18

Oh I feel for MIL. I'd be embarrased if I were her.

Boogiemam · 25/12/2025 22:20

DH and I bought each other tickets to the same comedian, same date etc. Whoops. Will hopefully sell the spares 😂

Ineffable23 · 25/12/2025 22:22

Could you get your DH a perfume atomiser as a bonus present? I don't own one, so maybe check with someone who does, but I think he could refill it from his cologne and it would be a lot smaller so maybe more convenient for flights?

I’m feeling 95 as I sit here nice and cosy in it 😂

Fridgemanageress · 25/12/2025 22:24

Not me, I got great gifts.

Muddlethroughmam · 25/12/2025 22:24

A family member was gifted a 'Winter Gift Set' smellies, frosted candle etc' and messaged me at the time saying who would want this shit... 😂 Well apparently me! As I unwrapped it this morning 🤣

I think this is a sign of a great marriage!!

I got a used candle - ExH decided to wrap me a candle from our old home that was gifted to me years before .. apparently it was a mistake. Complete with dusty dented lid .. He didn’t make it to the dinner table. I told him to f-off half hour before. I will never attempt to co-parent at Christmas ever again. On the plus side he left in such a huff he forgot to take his gifts I bought him from the kids 😆

I can't say worse gifts as well don't exchange but following with interest

edwinbear · 25/12/2025 23:20

DS got 2 identical Lynx gift sets. One from us and one from MIL. He took it all in good humour as he’s 16 and actually loves the stuff. His view was well, I have plenty to keep me going for the year 🤣

RedFlagsAllOver · 25/12/2025 23:25

I had a box of mince pies wrapped up 😅 someone at work gave me a present and I thought oh that's sweet and opened it this morning and thought oh haha.

I really want one of these for cooking and cleaning the house in because Im always ruining my clothes but can never find a plain cotton one.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 25/12/2025 23:33

DP's father sent him an expensive bottle of whisky and two glasses.

After he started a health kick following his dad having a series of strokes aged 63, DP hasn't drunk alcohol for about nine years.

The glasses will be used for juice, the whisky will probably sit in a cupboard somewhere with any other alcohol we've been given for the next decade or so.

I can top that as my nephew got EIGHT lynx sets 😂 luckily he finds it hilarious and will have them in his separate gym/football/school bags.
