Personally I don’t really once Boxing Day is over it’s over for me.

OP posts:
RaininSummer · 25/12/2025 20:15

All week til I go back to work. It's the best bit.

EchoedSilence · 25/12/2025 20:16

I didn't put my tree up in November, but it will be down before New Year.

DappledThings · 25/12/2025 20:21

Yes. Today is the first of the 12 days. I wouldn't dream of taking anything down before Epiphany.

WhatNoRaisins · 25/12/2025 20:21

Say this every year but I really wish that the school terms in England would allow for the 12 days.

nancpmf · 25/12/2025 20:22

I do because I’m always off for 2 weeks, decorations come down after 1st Jan (usually the first weekend in Jan) so it’s festive until I’m back to work, this year the 5th!

wheresmymojo · 25/12/2025 20:23

Yes - Betwixtmas.

Its festive season from Christmas Eve until the first working day after NYE for me.

Fireballtime · 25/12/2025 20:23

Yes ofcourse. It seems like a new trend to try and move Christmas to Nov/early Dec.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 25/12/2025 20:38

I wish!

I’m lucky to get this week off work, but when I applied for this annual leave in May, the first question was ‘will you be back for w/b 29/12/25?

I will never get both weeks off work (unless I won big on the PB’s and tell my boss where to stick their job)

My tree and outside lights will stay up/on until 12th night but next week will be work as usual
for me

mydogisanidiott · 25/12/2025 20:46

Of course it is! Twixmas!

the days that all merge together and you can’t remember what day it is and you turn in to a pig in a blanket.

what a weird question (not really but I cannot imagine it any other way )

Cyclebabble · 25/12/2025 20:47

Yes still seasonal, but at the quieter end with the big days being Xmas day and New Years Eve for us. Good day for catching up with family you have not seen on these days.

Dearg · 25/12/2025 20:56

In Scotland. Season is not over until 3rd Jan, or first working day thereafter.
But my decorations will be down before that as we are going away.

Nourishinghandcream · 25/12/2025 21:09

Absolutely.👍
We don't keep the decs up until 12th night but certainly do until after NYD.
The Christmas treats, bits & pieces are still in abundance so we enjoy them.

Decs do not go up until just before 20th Dec so we don't get fed up of them early.

LoveTheDarts · 25/12/2025 21:10

Christmas period finishes once the World Championship finishes - Jan 3rd :) equally the festive period starts once the Championship starts.

ColinOfficeTrolley · 25/12/2025 21:12

I'm back in work on 5th Jan so up until the 4th, is the festive period to me 🎉🤗

ThankYouNigel · 25/12/2025 21:17

I do. We usually have lunch with friends on NYE, then we host my mum for a roast lunch/cooked lunch of some sort and dessert NYD, pulling crackers, playing board games, etc.

I am Christmas mad though- our celebrations start on 1st Dec and end the last day of the Christmas hols. We spend every day of the school holidays doing festive activities with our children, eating lovely food, watching Xmas movies and playing games. Utter bliss!

Summerbay23 · 25/12/2025 21:18

Yes, it is for us.

Notmyreality · 25/12/2025 21:24

Not really. Decs stay up until first weekend in Jan but we don’t do anything special for new years. Off work next week and will enjoy it as any other week off but the “festivities” are mostly done.

PumpkinPie2016 · 25/12/2025 21:25

Yes, because I am fortunate to get 2 weeks off at Christmas so I see that as the festive season.

This year, I am back on the 5th Jan so it will definitely still be festive season.

I don't celebrate New Year really - I've never liked NYE but I still enjoy the time off.

I will do some bits of work in between the main days though as otherwise, term will be really stressful.

Starandflowers · 25/12/2025 21:27

Absolutely. Usually don’t go back to work until about the 5th so all of this period is still the festive period and the tree remains up until then

New Year is part of the holiday time too (plus New Years Day dinner is far superior to Christmas Day dinner).

To me the people who finish everything after Boxing Day are killjoys. Why wouldn’t you spread the festive cheer a bit longer before going back to “normal” life

BruFord · 25/12/2025 21:29

I like the 12 Days of Christmas concept all the way to January 6th. Unfortunately, both DH and I are back at work on the 29th so we’ll have to be festive in the evenings next week. 😂

EchoedSilence · 25/12/2025 21:30

I don't really know what you mean tbh. I mean I'm off work and still eating chocolate and cheese but I don't do anything Christmassy after boxing day.

EchoedSilence · 25/12/2025 21:31

What do you do that's festive though?

henlake7 · 25/12/2025 21:34

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 25/12/2025 20:10

Yes of course it is. It really depresses me when people think it’s all done and dusted by Boxing Day.

I like everything down and finished with by the 27th, for me it's the build up that's more fun. Once I've done Christmas I'm ready to get back to normal.

But I'd say the festive period goes up to 2nd Jan though for most people.

Starandflowers · 25/12/2025 21:35

EchoedSilence · 25/12/2025 21:31

What do you do that's festive though?

Family parties, meeting with friends to exchange gifts, going to a panto or light trail (whatever one we don’t do before Christmas), eat far too many Celebrations

Usually the run up to Christmas is caught up with work and school commitments. This period is more about friends and family

Jellycatspyjamas · 25/12/2025 21:38

Yes, until 3rd January is still the festive season, I like the week after Christmas. The work and stress of being organised is done, there’s enough food and drink to feed an army and no one needs to be anywhere. We see friends and family, long dog walks, movies and board games. Then Hogmanay - it’s all good.
