Not happy. I know they trail hunt but they still take dogs and have their fair share of the sabs.

Or own a domestic cat. Because they hunt for fun, too.

Once again a cat and a human are not on the same level mentally. Although in your case…

If trail hunting genuinely wasn't chasing foxes. Then why do I see the hired heavies with masks, quad bikes and terrier boxes drive past everytime a hunt gathers in my village?

I guess because of the sabs? Who will protest even though it's trail hunting.

Fair point.

But why the need for masks? And terrier boxes? Are the small terriers there to yap at the sabs?

You know what, being the sap that I am I would probably feel a bit sorry for the rats who are, like us all, just trying to survive. However on balance and by using critical thinking skills, I could determine that it’s a necessary evil as rats in my home could cause a lot of damage and spread disease.

What I wouldn’t want to do is chase them, watch them die a horrific death and laugh about it with my friends. Because it’s just a bit sick isn’t it?

And who are you suggesting does this?

I would expect human beings to have a little more intelligence and compassion than cats.

Right, so if I call Rentokill in but I'm really upset with them laying poison, that's OK by you?

Whereas if you call Rentokill in and whilst they are laying the poison down you exhibit a slight smirk and think that'll sort the little bastards then you are an evil person who should be sent to jail immediately.

By contrast, approx 61 foxes were confirmed killed by the League Against Cruel Sports in a 2 year period.

This is a highly disingenuous representation of the relevant report. It's not a two year period: it was over the 2022-23 hunting season, so less than one year. And it artistically leaves out the 55 cases of very strongly suspected kills, and the fact that there were reliable reports of 400 foxes being chased, to say nothing of other livestock including hares, deer, and people's pets; plus trespassing on private land and railway lines; running amok on roads, incidents involving the welfare of horses and hounds, badger setts being damaged to prevent foxes fleeing, and people being intimidated and caused mental distress.

We go!
I’m a vegan leftie.
It’s basically a cross country ride with dogs. No foxes involved. 🤷‍♀️

Imo that's fine, if that's all it was across the country. The problem is not those who support the ban, but those who use trail hunts to continue to hunt illegally - they're the ones spoiling it for everyone else, not those protesting illegal activity.

Plus in recent years there's been a concerted effort to reverse the fox-hunting ban, so I'm supportive of this latest law.

Those animal lovers who love their animals so much they will have them killed off they can't use them to go and kill wildlife. They clearly don't love them at all if they will just kill them off.

They aren’t pets - they are working animals. If their job is taken away, they will have to be destroyed. If the hunt is put out of business, who will be able to afford to feed them?

GoodQueenWenceslaus · 28/12/2025 23:30

BundleBoogie · 28/12/2025 23:23

The vast majority of trail hunts operate totally legally. Are you demonising a whole industry because of the unlawful actions of a few which may also be inadvertent? I thought we weren’t allowed to do that any more?

The report you are so fond of quoting refers to 621 cases of hunt havoc and 361 incidents of hunts being involved in suspected illegal hunting. That's a bit more than "a few".

They could carry on doing clean boot hunting of volunteer cross country runners.

What sort of work is killing wild animals, please?

Again, for food. Not for fun. What are you struggling with here?

Because people enjoy eating it, not because they need to.

Pieceofpurplesky · 28/12/2025 23:32

Just the other day a trail hunt near me ripped a fox to shreds. Dogs in a pack will hunt and follow a scent. I hate it when the toffs and wannabe toffs invade my village with their 4x4s and tweed. Not sure where they spawn from but it's not local.

Barbaric. I was traumatised as a kid seeing a fox torn to shreds by a pack and by a school friend being blooded after her first hunt kill.

Tbh I haven't seen the evidence of that assertion and yes, there are times when a blanket ban is warranted because the severity of the harm done when harm is committed.

Again, those supporting the ban are not the problem, those who behave at best irresponsibly and at worst barbarically are.

Perhaps things could have been different if the 'industry', as you call it, had taken strong collective action to stamp out the cruelty and entitlement of the few.

Also hunting rats or rabbits with dogs such as terriers is still perfectly legal, whereas hunting foxes with dogs is definitely illegal.

Presumably because foxes have had the "Disney makeover" as adorable cheeky chappies whereas rats haven't, despite foxes causing the substantial loss of lambs and chickens.

Contrary to the beliefs of many hunt supporters, people who object don't necessarily believe that foxes are cute or that they should be immune from pest control. What they object to is making it a sport, and a cruel one at that.

@BundleBoogie 61 foxes too many then isn’t it

Animals are killed all the time by humans. Are you going to go and protest outside your local chicken shop?

Guess what, my local chicken shop isn't killing animals for fun.

foxlover47 · 28/12/2025 23:37

There are bloodhound hunts with real runners on foot , go to them if you want the thrill of the chase but no , course not “ a accidental ripping apart of a fox “ is far more entertaining isn’t it
I have horses and am regularly disgusted how the equine community flaunt their days out trail hunting , use it as a great selling point for the horses sale etc , and no I don’t eat meat or dairy either

So a cat is akin to a human? Why don’t they drive cars and have jobs then? You clearly are taking the piss now.

Cats are quite clever. I get off the bus and I walk about 500m home, and there is a cat who lives near the bus stop and sometimes walks me home. We chat, I get home and then he/she goes back to their house. I know that sounds bizarre.

foxlover47 · 28/12/2025 23:39

@GoodQueenWenceslaus they could but that doesn’t give them the same thrill clearly , which shows it’s not about the trail at all doesn’t it but they’ll deny that of course

DoIdriveaVauxhallZafira · 28/12/2025 23:39

All this Whataboutery is beside the point

flumpsfortea · 28/12/2025 23:40

@IWantToSneezesince you have a ridiculous answer for everything I’m curious to know what your truthful thoughts are. Are you ok with foxes being torn to shreds by dogs for entertainment? Do you find it enjoyable to watch or be part of? Yes I know we’re talking about trail hunting but as we all know, it’s largely used as a smoke screen and even when it isn’t, foxes do get ‘accidentally’ caught up in it. Do you find it exciting?
