Can you settle a debate, do you consider Celebrations and Heroes classic Christmas chocs?

I don’t , only Roses and Quality Street are imo

My parents used to buy the sugary orange and lemon slices, QS, After Eights and Neopolitan individually wrapped tiny chocolate bars and I had a little chocolate machine they fitted intomand a 2p coin was used to buy one of the chocolates.

treesandsun · 22/12/2025 20:14

I think it depends on your age for me Celebrations and Heroes more 'recent 'editions. Quality Street is now full of palm oil which is disappointing. I dare say the others are but I don't know for sure Sometimes I'd like to remain ignorant.

Wonderknicks · 22/12/2025 20:17

Those who like Hotel Chocolat, am I missing something? I find it even worse than Cadburys, it has no melt in the mouth qualities at all & just feels hard & oily.

5128gap · 22/12/2025 20:26

Roses and quality street only. Celebrations and Heros belong 5 times bigger and in a selection box.

paddleboardingmum · 22/12/2025 20:36

I wonder if people are buying less Quality Street overall since they ruined the wrappers. This is the first year I didn't bother getting any.

FollowSpot · 22/12/2025 20:48

QS and Roses.

But Celebrations and Heroes have muscled their way in as nouveau, having never come in actual tins.

QS tins from decades past are sold in retro and vintage shops. A plastic tub surely never will.

But Celebrations and Heroes are much better. Celebrations, anyway.

bizzey · 22/12/2025 21:16

I really want to open my tub of QS now !!

I can't believe only one person mentioned Elizabeth Shaw crispy mints !

They are definitely old Christmas for me .

Need to look out for them again !

Matchmakers are now an "everyday treat when I see them for a £1 anywhere .

Run30 · 22/12/2025 21:33

It was always Quality Street for me - from oop north.
And Roses for softy southerner, DH.
We always assumed it was a north/south divide thing, anyway.

We’ve ditched both now though - they’re just not the same, somehow. We get Lindors now.

PurpleFlower1983 · 22/12/2025 21:35

No! Roses, Quality Street, Chocolate Orange, Toblerone and After Eights.

overmyherd · 22/12/2025 21:37

I never had them as a child but we do get them now, I wouldn’t say they’re classic though, just nice!.

I’d love an original box of Black Magic. The height of sophistication!

‘Who… knows the secret… of the black.. magic.. box..’

Daffydoll · 22/12/2025 21:38

After Eights and Payne’s Just Brazils

Netcurtainnelly · 22/12/2025 21:41

My thoughts would go to quality Street, mint matchmaker and Elizabeth Shaw mints, and after eights.

JenniferBooth · 22/12/2025 21:49

Friend bought the smallest tub ive ever seen last week. A five hundred grams tub of Celebrations

Northbynorthbest · 22/12/2025 21:52

Nope, Roses and Quality Street.

Portakalkedi · 22/12/2025 21:56

They are both a bit too modern, it used to be Quality Street many years ago, then also Roses. Wouldn't have any of this crap given to me now though, all junk since reformulated to use palm oil. same for Ferrero Rocher, was given some last year and we couldn't eat them.

Lifeispeacefulthere · 22/12/2025 21:58

Absolutely classics. Plus Roses and Quality Street tast grim, always registered them if I get any.

JenniferBooth · 22/12/2025 22:00

Baci are superior to Ferrero Rocher IMO

cakewitch · 22/12/2025 22:00

I was just discussing the same only half an hour ago with DH
Quality street are the ONLY acceptable christmas "tin" chocolate.
The smell, when you open that tin though.. its THE smell of christmas! All these newfangled hero's and suchlike nonsense are not worthy.

wertgyhjk · 22/12/2025 22:02

mynameiscalypso · 22/12/2025 16:45

No! They’re much too modern.

Agreed! Roses and Quality Street for me (the proper ones, with coloured cellophane and foil wrappers and in a tin).

Justlovedogs · 22/12/2025 16:53

No, Roses, Quality Street and After Eights with the possible addition of fruit jellies are classics. Celebrations and Heroes are still new kids on the block. Might just be showing my age there! 😂

Oh I forgot about the fruit jellies! Loved these when a child. Will definitely introduce them to my household next year!

GellerYeller · 22/12/2025 22:09

DM always bought herself Neapolitans.
Chocolate Orange and Quality Street were my GPs choices.
After Eights are mandatory!
I also like the Quality Street coffee creams from John Lewis and miss the shiny wrappers. We used to get fondant filled chocolate bears in our stockings, though I can’t remember the brand.
Roses can get in the bin since they stopped making Brazil nut caramel.
Celebrations and Heroes are new fangled surely?!

xmasstress12 · 22/12/2025 22:20

Won’t age make a difference? Roses, QS, Celebrations & Heroes are all xmas chocs for me as are Ferrero Rocher.

As pp I didn’t buy QS this yr, Roses are full of caramel which I don’t love & none of them taste the same.

xmasstress12 · 22/12/2025 22:22

Celebrations did used to be in a tin didn’t they?

Zov · 22/12/2025 22:29

YANBU.
