Aldi pomegranate (no 3 I think) is good. About £3.50. Similar to Jo Malone

maxandru · 21/12/2025 22:41

There’s an AMAZING one they sell at the really nice service station (!) up by - westMoreland!

it’s the myrtle and bitter orange one. Lasts weeks. https://www.purelakes.co.uk/pages/channel-4-a-lake-district-farmshop

So if you do go there….. 🤣

Bodhifatva · 21/12/2025 22:43

I’m going to be that person and at you can make your own with a carrier oil and a few drops of essential oil and then you can make them as strong as you like.

bonesandbooth2025 · 21/12/2025 22:48

Valentte or rituals

I’m actually researching making my own. Mostly cos I don’t like the synthetic smell of the shop ones.

ThatHazelSnail · 21/12/2025 22:53

Make sure you are flipping the reeds every so often, and replace if needed.

It’s really simple; it’s literally just a matter of adding a few drops of your preferred essential oil(s) to a carrier oil.

hulahooper2 · 21/12/2025 22:54

try shearers candles , they do great reeds

pinkstripeycat · 21/12/2025 22:56

I get mine from next. Sometimes they smell strong for ages, sometimes they don’t. Found a perfect one that lasted ages, smelt lovely but as with most of their scents they discontinued it.

Missikat13 · 21/12/2025 23:00

I get mine from an amazing local producer I found at a local craft market. Nothing beats them for long lasting and non synthetic, gorgeous smells. They're not cheap but not mega expensive either and really last. The Mandarin tea, orange blosson and jasmine is lovely. www.aroment.co.uk/collections/best-sellers

LauraC1984 · 21/12/2025 23:04

My absolute favourite is Antigua from Next, honestly it smells amazing and lasts ages! They are super expensive now though so I only buy one every now and then x

Cherry8809 · 21/12/2025 23:09

I definitely second the ones from Next.

This is my absolute favourite - the scent and projection is strong and lasts for ages. You can buy refills too, so it is more cost effective.

FromageTime · 21/12/2025 23:10

Aldi ones are shite imo.

Rituals - excellent and cheap.

CleanHankie · 21/12/2025 23:16

Love the Aldi pomegranate one! That and the M&S Aromatherapy ones (more pricey than Aldi though). Both smell amazing and last.

However reed diffusers only work in smaller rooms. I never notice them if I put them in my lounge but do in the bedroom and hallway.

RitaandtheTiarasgonewiththewind · 21/12/2025 23:20

One not to get in our experience was an Asda one it gave us both banging headaches.
Don't recall the fragrance

billiongulls · 21/12/2025 23:22

Hate them, spreading horrible chemical smells through the house, revolting.

Twogonksandapencil · 21/12/2025 23:26

I would recommend St Eval - I love the Bay and Rosemary: it has a very natural fragrance, not at all chemical (unlike a lot of reed diffusers), and has a lovely, aromatic Christmassy scent. (The candles are gorgeous too).

LouLou198 · 21/12/2025 23:33

Vallentte are the best I have found.

If you can find the Zoflora ones they're quite strong and last well. Home Bargains usually has them.

I tried this and it didn’t work! It refused to ride up the reed!

I agree with St Eval. I like the sweet pea one

PinkElephants356 · 22/12/2025 08:14

To be honest the more expensive the better. I like the white company ones but they are pricey!

What oil did you use? Fractionated coconut oil works best. Some other oils are too heavy and therefore don’t really work well.
