To book holidays for 2026 already

DH and I haven't been on many holidays before and only just started going on holidays since having DC. I tend to book holidays in advance of 10-11 months to an year and my DH thinks it's unrealistic as we don't know how things will be. But I think I will get the cheapest price if I book now for December 2026. What are your thoughts and experience?

Where I used to work we had to have all our holidays for the following year booked by the end of January (even though our holiday year went April to April). So I'd say better early than late!

cockandbullstories · 20/12/2025 18:00

Already booked three for 2026.

TheCoolFawn · 20/12/2025 18:00

I’ve got a holiday booked for August 2027!

If I’m booking an AI package deal I tend to do it asap which can be 18 months, same with cruises. If I’m doing DIY I tend to be guided by flights so will book those 11 months ahead, but usually book flexible accommodation asap. As soon as I know when and where I want to go, I get booking. I try to make sure it’s flexible where possible such as TUI flex as DH does have a job that could mean his leave gets cancelled. And always have insurance once booked.

For those of us who book in August Sept you're a bit late! I saw people on a Kefalonia fb group booking today for 2027.
Sales will come just after Xmas tho so wait a few more days

toohottofunction1234 · 20/12/2025 18:12

I’ve got 3 holidays booked already for 2026 and wondering whether I should book at 2027 cruise 🤣

Mikart · 20/12/2025 18:12

Booked 3 so far

NothingLeftToInheritDarlings · 20/12/2025 18:18

Busy booking as I'm sitting here - first in, best dressed!

gogomomo2 · 20/12/2025 18:20

I prefer to book 2-3 weeks out, luckily I don’t need to go in term time and as nobody covers me when I’m off I can take them when I want. If I need specific dates eh for an event I do book once details are confirmed

REDB99 · 20/12/2025 18:22

All of ours are already booked!

Staringintothevoid616 · 20/12/2025 18:24

I’ve got one booked for August 27. Trips to France and the Netherlands in June 26 were booked on Sept trip to Cyprus in Oct 26 booked back in August. I think you’re leaving it late🤣

AwfullyGood · 20/12/2025 18:54

I've two booked. It's nearly always cheaper to book in advance.

cockandbullstories · 20/12/2025 18:00

Already booked three for 2026.

So have I. They were booked by August.

Laiste · 20/12/2025 18:58

He doesnt know how what ''things'' will be OP?

Weve been booked up for next summer since Oct.

Letsbehappy · 20/12/2025 18:59

I've got 5 booked for 2026 already😂

Laiste · 20/12/2025 18:59

In fact if you want to stay somewhere nice in the UK and have specific dates in mind you need to get on it yesterday IME

EatSleepDreamRepeat · 20/12/2025 18:59

I booked my flights for August 2026 when they were released. It was Sept or October. I've not booked accommodation yet, I'll do that in the NY.

Panda89 · 20/12/2025 19:01

I’ve had my August 2026 cruise booked for a year 😂 we like a specific type of room that sells out really quickly so always book them as soon as the dates are released.

HeddaGarbled · 20/12/2025 19:02

I tend to book mine soon after returning from the last one - I like having something to look forward to.

WanderlustMom · 20/12/2025 19:04

I usually always book holidays the year before especially long haul ones! I think it’s nice getting it booked then paying bits off each month and it’s nice to have something to look forward to 🥰

WorkCleanRepeat · 20/12/2025 20:25

Ive got 2 holidays booked for 2026 already and one for May half term 2027 (I needed very specific dates and the rooms where I wanted wete filling up already)

Redhairandhottubs · 20/12/2025 20:27

I like to book mine between Christmas and New Year. It’s nice to curl up together during that quiet period and dream about sunshine. I think now is a good time to book a summer holiday as you can split the payments over the next 5-6 months. And it’s nice to have something to look forward to.

Pineapplewaves · 20/12/2025 20:32

We have already booked two holidays for 2026 and are thinking about 2027. Just be aware that flight times are not confirmed between the airlines and the airports until close to the beginning of the season so a downside of booking a holiday today for say October 2026 is that the flight time can change and if it is less than 12 hours time difference there is nothing you can do about it (unless you take out extra cover like TUI Flex).

TheatreTraveller · 20/12/2025 20:39

I've already got 3 trips booked for 2026 and have done for about 6mths! Will be booking 2027 in the New Year. I'm a planner though, it's pretty much my hobby ☺️
