To consider applying for nursery when ttc?

As the title says. We are moving next year to a village with 2 nurseries both of which are completely booked until 2029 with 100 family waiting lists. This is no good for our DS who is going to be almost 2 next spring so we are having to find an alternative option which is a shame as he is probably going to have to go to school without being able to experience going to nursery.

We will consider ttc again in the future and am considering given the waiting lists in our village, telling them I’m pregnant when we start and giving a proposed start date of 12-15 months in the future.

If we are successful within 3-4 months as last time, I will just say the due dates have shifted slightly with scan etc and ask to shift the start date to my preferred date.

Cannot believe I’m even having to ask this but has anyone else done this, and were you even successful in getting a place?! I feel the nurseries will probably say they are fully booked even at this point…

Are you going to fake a miscarriage if you don't conceive?

Wouldn't the more sensible option be to move to somewhere with childcare?

Purlant · 20/12/2025 16:09

Open your own one. Sounds like there would be a huge demand.

TheTamerShrew · 20/12/2025 16:09

I can't understand how this would work. Nursery would at the minimum want a due date to register, and if that doesn't align with a birth date then questions would be asked.

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 20/12/2025 16:10

If they're booked until 2029, asking for a date in 12-15 months time isn't going to work

There's a special place in hell for people like you

Emsie1987 · 20/12/2025 17:30

Won’t you have to put a deposit down. Mine was £700.

That’s disgusting. Wait until you need a place to

TheNightingalesStarling · 20/12/2025 17:39

Surely they say 2029 for 3yos, not babies?

TheTaupeScroller · 20/12/2025 17:41

Why are you moving knowing that your first child will missing out already and is a shame as he is probably going to have to go to school without being able to experience going to nursery.

Concentrate on your existing child before making ridiculous plans about an hypothetical baby that you might or might not have in the future?

You’d need a name, m/f, and date of birth, so you couldn’t reserve a space for a non-existent child. Your conception may suggest a date but you may give birth early or late and in a different school year. Are you relaxed about the idea of places already being filled, on paper, with applications for children yet to be conceived? Doubt it.

Your casual quip about faking miscarriage says something really nasty about you OP. I hope you’re not one of the many women who has repeated losses even after one or more live births, but just get a grip, please.

NuffSaidSam · 20/12/2025 17:47

What you need to bear in mind is that there are other people who are as worried about childcare/nuts as you are, so there will be plenty of other people on that list that have signed up 'just in case'. In reality the list will move much more quickly than it looks like it will.

I would put your name down when you're pregnant, but not while you're TTC. Those extra few months won't make a substantial difference.

Your son will be fine without 'experiencing nursery', send him to a primary with a nursery/pre-school attached or a standalone pre-school and that will be more than enough experience for him.

LavenderBlue19 · 20/12/2025 17:48

If they're both booked until 2029 people must be putting down unborn children, surely? That seems wildly unlikely, have you actually spoken to them?

Isn't there a nursery nearby but outside the village? If not, I would suggest moving to this village if you need childcare might be a bit daft.

TTCbabynumber22025 · 20/12/2025 17:50

If they’re booked until 2029, everyone else must be doing the same

We’d put the deposit down on our nursery when I was 5 months pregnant, so obviously they had none of the above info, just a due date. That due date was factual though, and I was actually pregnant.

OP the baby room cannot possibly be fully booked until 2029 unless they willingly take reservations from people planning to have children in 2 years in which case no need for your lies.

Leftsidefacing · 20/12/2025 18:06

How is a nursery fully booked 4 years in advance? I must be missing something here, but I can’t see how that can work.

If its right then other people must be reserving for as-yet hypothetical children - or am I missing something obvious? Its been a long day.

Plumtreerd · 20/12/2025 18:09

Three word username. One word a colour. The shock value of the posts really dwindles once you realise who it is.

The OP sounds like they're lying tbh, their previous forum post (from the beginning of December) said 'I have a 14 month old DS and had been planning for him to start nursery 3 days per week in London in January as I have a new part time job which I’d been really looking forward to'. Nothing about moving to a village. That post was also said 'I can’t send my child to nursery costing a fortune for fear of him being sexually assaulted or worse' yet now they're saying 'a shame as he is probably going to have to go to school without being able to experience going to nursery'. They seem to be some kind of sick troll.
