Just seems a huge amount I’ve managed to lose a stone or two which I’ve now gained back but never a massive amount

I lost 9 stone without surgery. I am now 15 years later and struggle to shift weight and on WLI that work to keep me down a bit but not the results others have had on them. WLI definitely work well for me for the first few stone and very quick so even that would be worth considering as a start

I've lost nearly 10 stone in 17 months using mounjaro. Personally I'd try weight loss injections before surgery, but its personal choice.

I lost 8 stone with keto.

Its possible without injections.

Keto isn’t really recommended by dietitians… it puts a lot of strain on the heart if done for a long time.

Poppycock. Zero evidence of that and no physiological mechanism for that to be the case.

I’ve been keto a decade. I’ve had a coronary artery calcium scan with contrast. I have zero hard or soft plaque. My blood pressure is textbook.

My father died of a heart attack at the same age I am now. My heart is perfect and I’ve been eating steak, butter and eggs daily for ten years.

Carbs are inflammatory, inflammation causes microfissures in the arteries. Cholesterol goes to the site of inflammation as a healing mechanism. More inflammation, more cholesterol build up. It calcifies like a scab. Sometimes those scabs break off and cause a heart attack or stroke. There is no such thing as an essential carb. We don’t need them.

It’s not ‘poppycock’ though. That poster is right, it absolutely can put strain on your heart. Research exists.

I know someone who did. She cut all the crap out of her diet and walked every day. And she's kept it off and is now a few years down the line.
