Just for fun.

What are some things that you have done in the past or do now that you know most MN’s would find you unreasonable for?

I’ll go first:

  • I’m so unbothered if you choose to have a child free wedding and my children aren’t invited. Even close family weddings. It’s your day I’m not going to kick up a fuss that you haven’t invited to my children. You’ve probably given me at least 6 months to a year notice, I’ll just arrange childcare. If I can’t - then I can’t come and you can’t be mad at me!
  • Chose to have 2 elective c sections for no medical need.
  • Given my children chocolate occasionally before the age of 2.
  • Son slept in a cot until almost 3!

If you want to see things really kick off, start a loo brush thread! 😂
Believe me, by three posts in, the anger and personal attacks will have started to escalate and there's no going back.....

That is so silly. I read that the cleanest place in most homes it the toilet.
I have no idea why it has to be 100% germ free at all times. I mean, it is not like you are eating your dinner from it. It is somewhere you land shit into. It is not meant to be sterile. It does not matter if it is not sterile.

Biffsboys · 16/12/2025 22:15

I do my 18 year olds washing and sometimes even iron it !!

takealettermsjones · 16/12/2025 22:23

I have toilet brushes!
I don't wash my bedsheets every week. Or towels after one use. I don't own any zoflora or white vinegar.
I drink in front of my kids (with dinner).
My kids don't do swimming lessons.
My kids have loads of plastic tat.
Sometimes I don't recycle.
I am late quite a lot.
I have tinsel on my fake Christmas tree (which I put up in November).

Who knows. That and shoes off threads. Oh and bathroom bins.
Avoid.

I’ve parked in a parent and child space late at night when I figured the demand for those spaces would be low. Is that a hanging offence?

Edited

I used to do that too. Back when the big supermarkets were open all hours. I fucking loved a 2am shop and parking in a P&C space.

I was the OG loo brush poster. I knew it would kick it off!

Rim the loo with bleach. Leave it for a little while so it can drip down. boil a kettle

place get loo brush and scrub scrub scrub.

flush. Flush again and give the loo
brush a good shake. Fill lool
brush holder with some bleach and boiling water. Give it a good swirl around. Tip it out

job done

Sorry, I can’t get onboard with rimming the toilet.

I don’t give a fuck that you do any of these bar one, not picking your dog poo up is just extremely selfish and scummy.

I don't lock my front door if I'm in.

I don't lock the front door if I'm taking the dog out, never mind if I'm in. I've got a toilet brush (why is that an issue?), of course any trades can use the toilet,, why would I say no? The dog sleeps in the bed and her bowl is washed with our stuff. My sons didn't have much routine as babies and we were not strict with them as teenagers and they're fine. I have tattoos and piercings and don't earn 6 figures. Oh and I share towels and wash them when they smell, and wash the bedding when it's dirty. And don't always have a shower every day.

TinselTina · 16/12/2025 22:43

My kid isnt 90th centile for height

TwoShoes131 · 16/12/2025 22:50

I have an only child by choice. I also dare to live in a city rather than rurally.

TwoShoes131 · 16/12/2025 22:50

Edited to remove accidental double post.

Springbaby2023 · 16/12/2025 23:00

I occasionally don’t change my bedsheets for three weeks.

WigglywagglyWanda · 16/12/2025 23:06

I dont get mistaken for 18 when im actually 68

I think a lot of men are quite as nice as women

I have tattoos

I eat carbs, have a gay son whos not a strapping rugby player.

I admit to watching shite reality shows

Very partial to an all inclusive holiday where I love a buffey breakfast

I don't wash chickens

5128gap · 16/12/2025 23:13

I have a driving licence and refuse to drive.
I will cut a doughnut in half at work and leave half behind.
I've had botox for over 20 years and will probably do other things to avoid 'embracing natural aging'.
I love and respect my MiL and take her advice as I think experience is often more valid than the latest theory.
I eat loads of carbs.
I often post without reading the full thread.

randomchap · 16/12/2025 23:17

Have friends of the opposite sex
Encourage dc to have sleepovers with their friends
Let the cats sleep on my bed
Still have photos of my late wife up
Eat pot noodles and other upf
Play sport regularly, can't say which one as it'll be outing

NormasArse · 16/12/2025 23:20

Coffeeishot · 16/12/2025 12:36

I don't lock my door if im in either.

The only time I lock my door is when I go on holiday…

Woahtherehoney · 16/12/2025 23:23

I love my dog and cats more than most humans.

even though I’m in my 30s and live with my DP and DSS, I still call my mum about minor (and major) inconveniences in my life and for advice (because she didn’t stop being my mum as soon as I turned 18 and she didn’t turf me out on my ear)

I am a step parent who adores her step kid - I’m not a wicked step mother who would happily see him on the street despite what mumsnet believes about step mums.

I eat 3 meals a day and snacks - shocking behaviour I know.

Fgfgfg · 16/12/2025 23:24

Cats come and go as they please and are welcome to sleep on the bed.
I open the door. It's nice when people drop in and I've been known to do it myself.
I have an old door so don't have the problems most people have. If it is shut, it's locked.
I don't own or want an iron, a microwave or a dishwasher. If I need to iron something I'll borrow nextdoors.
Our house is in a run down, scary area and the neighbours are mostly ok.
We take more parcels in for our neighbours than they do for us. We don't mind.
I phone most people without texting first.
I am happy to spend money on myself.
University is overrated.
I despise pyjamas, spa days, and making an 'event' out of a normal and frequently mundane occurrence such as having a hot chocolate. If you want a hot chocolate just have one without the drama.
This is the risk of asking 'for fun'. It starts off fairly light hearted and before you know it the rage starts to creep in. As evidence of my creeping rage I must admit that I have been involved in a riot or two, something most mumsnetters would certainly frown upon😄

Honestly obsessed with how many people have outing hobbies on mumsnet 🤣 (I think you are poking fun at that and hopefully I’m not doing it at you haha)

SleeplessInWherever · 16/12/2025 23:25

My partner and I sometimes watch my ex husband’s girlfriend singing on TikTok, because it’s hilarious.

I give my son a small chocolate bar before school most days, because it’s a hill I absolutely cba dying on.

I air fryer tea, most days.

I have a BMI of approx 6271615151, and couldn’t care less.

I drive to the corner shop, and everywhere else.

I don’t believe that mother’s always know best, or that everyone should be one.

I think women staying at home is a waste of talent, a waste of earning potential, and absolutely cannot be a full time job.

Leaving your dog's faeces in the street should be punishable by a very large fine and lifetime ban on dog ownership. Absolutely disgusting.
