Where are all the Selection Boxes this year?

There are no traditional stockings with chocolate bars in, and very few selection boxes. Is it the same everywhere? I've tried Aldi, Asda and Tesco - very very few to be had.

I guess it is all to do with packaging and recycling.

ASDA has plenty of the new style selection boxes, many now reduced.

paddleboardingmum · 14/12/2025 16:43

They've definitely shrunk! was quite shocked. You can get them in Sainsbury's- the boxes though not the stockings.

ChristmasStressy · 14/12/2025 16:43

There are loads in B&M, home bargains, poundland etc

Yes, I've seen a few, but vary much on the smaller end. Fudge etc and half size bars. Oh for the days of a box with ten large bars, most of them full size!

What’s the new style? I’m guessing smaller 😁

MissyB1 · 14/12/2025 16:48

They have shrunk dramatically! The old style ones seem to have disappeared.

ItsmeMargo · 14/12/2025 16:48

DS came home from school with a selection box on Friday… It was quite small, and had very small chocolate treats inside! I remember those fantastic net stocking types that had loads of full-size stuff in when I was younger.

cloudtreecarpet · 14/12/2025 16:49

I couldn't find any either when I looked this weekend.
And don't get me started on the price of the Roses/Celebrations)Quality Street tubs..
Yes, some are on offer at the moment but the actual prices of them are outrageous.

Supermarkets are still shafting us all every which way they can & I can't see it stopping any time soon. (Look forward to them declaring their bumper profits though...🙄)

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 14/12/2025 16:49

@KilkennyCats

just a ( small ) cardboard box, and i suspect the bars of chocolate are loose inside ?

MintTwirl · 14/12/2025 16:50

They look very sad this year. Sainsburys has the boxes but they are very small and not as exciting.

They were the best!

Daisymay8 · 14/12/2025 16:55

Oh, no - this is awful - Xmas was the only time I got lots of choccy bars - selection box every year.
Mind you I'm 70 years old

Sexyin2026 · 14/12/2025 16:57

There's no dairy free this year either - absolutely none!

TiredofLDN · 14/12/2025 16:58

If you think about it though, a standard sized mars bar etc regularly breaks a quid now. Would you pay £8 for an old fashioned selection box with 8 bars or whatever in?

I think they probably made economic sense for chocolate manufacturers (and consumers) when individual chocolate bars were 35p-40p, but not so much now.

Obviously it’s a massive shame though.

Oh. Sounds a bit crap, really.

We have a nomo one, got it from Ocado at the end of November.

ChubbyPuffling · 14/12/2025 17:06

And we get the Cadbury stocking shaped cardboard ones, they still seem substantial enough.6 bars for under 4 quid... go nicely in their pillowcases to bulk things out... and a tradition in our house.

GreenGiant167 · 14/12/2025 17:08

I thought it was just me. We really had to hunt through Sainsburys to find some and then get the magnifying glass out to see the chocolate bars 😤

Mimilamore · 14/12/2025 17:11

You probably missed them as they are very tiny now…

ScrambledEggs12 · 14/12/2025 17:11

Not my photo, but I used to get this as one of my main Christmas presents!

My kids would be so excited to receive that!! I think I might make my own next year, buy multipacks of chocolate bars when they are on offer and split them up. And as a bonus I get to eat any spares!

drspouse · 14/12/2025 17:19

I never got selection boxes as a child because they were common and then when my own DCs turned about 3 people started giving them selection boxes - but none this year!

KilkennyCats · 14/12/2025 17:26

Common??

Oh my God!
That looks fabulous, I’ve never even seen one like that, never mind had one Envy
