Do I need a GP appointment or am I being dramatic?

Hi all,
Just after some opinions because I genuinely can’t tell if I’m overthinking this or if I should be getting checked.

For the last few months I’ve been constantly exhausted – like deep, dragging tiredness for no real reason. I’m cold all the time, even when everyone else is fine. My brain fog is ridiculous lately, and every now and then when I stand up I get this dizzy/lightheaded feeling and have to sit back down before I tip over. Eating/drinking sometimes helps but not always.

It’s been gradually getting worse. I’m already taking vitamin B, iron, vitamin D, omega 3 and a hair supplement, and they helped a bit at first, but everything’s sort of slipped back again. The only medical thing I’ve had recently is sinus surgery about four months ago, nothing that should still be causing issues now.

Just wondering… is this worth booking a GP appointment for, or is it one of those “drink some water and get on with it” thing?

YABU - man up and cope

YANBU - book the appointment!!

Depending on your age, could it be perimenopause?

But yes, I’d say it’s worth getting checked out by the GP.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 11/12/2025 16:15

I was thinking it could be Hypothyroidism because it sounds similar to how l felt .
Definitely get an appointment, this is not normal . Wishing you all the best 💐

OurChristmasMiracle · 11/12/2025 16:15

Yes definitely get checked and it could still be b12, I have to have injections as I don’t absorb it from my diet and it sounds as though you have the same sort of symptoms

SilenceInside · 11/12/2025 16:16

There are definitley symptoms there that would warrant further investigation, such as the feeling cold all the time and the dizziness on standing. Not unreasonable at all to have an appointment and ask.

Pistachiocake · 11/12/2025 16:16

Yes, the advice is to get checked if you're exhausted for no reason you can think of. Hope they get you sorted out soon.

rumred · 11/12/2025 16:16

Could be thyroid? Definitely get checked out.

Createausername1970 · 11/12/2025 16:18

Agree with the above - also have you checked your blood pressure recently.

notfeelinggoodatm · 11/12/2025 16:18

I’m in my 20s so I don’t think it’s anything menopause related

My BP has always been low, even more so in consideration of my weight

Have you ever heard of POTS? Might not be but some symptoms sound familiar. Get checked.

Createausername1970 · 11/12/2025 16:24

So had mine for years. Then I started to get random dizzy spells and felt generally unwell and when I took it I was Stage 2. I took it a few times that day and it was in the 170s and 180s over 100+.

I take blood pressure meds now.

Last time I did mine (probably three weeks ago), it was 90s / 60s

Did you have Covid before your symptoms started? I was diagnosed with long Covid last year and the symptoms you’ve described sound very much like the things I experienced.

Not since 2021.

I basically want a pre-GP GP appointment where someone medical tells me to go 😅

Sounds like it could be iron related
I have those symptoms and my iron is very low

Can you try 111 to get advice

I get those symptoms through low vitamin D

Yes I’m medical 😂 I’d ask for some bloods.
You’re not on mounjaro ? That can cause tiredness.
How is your sleep ?

I’m on Mounjaro, have been for 17 months at this point and this has come on in the last few months. I tend to get about 7-8 hours of sleep a night

My GP does offer this “pre-GP GP” service via their website- it’s called a patches request, fill in all your details and they tell you what to do next and who to see etc. Check their website as I think it’s pretty common now?

That’s good re the sleep.
MJ can make you tired , could be your diet ?

I have a feeling I’m anaemic. I know it sounds stupid but I’m scared to go to the doctors in case it’s anything really serious

OP posts:
PigeonsandSquirrels · 11/12/2025 17:32

Yes go and get a blood test it’s obviously not normal for so long. Could be B12 deficiency, could be thyroid dysfunction could be pernicious anaemia… all sorts. Won’t know unless you have a test.

Lamentingalways · 11/12/2025 17:33

Sounds like it could be hypothyroidism because they were the exact symptoms I had. See a GP.
