DH’s were wrapped, mine were not as a child. Not fussed either way, just intrigued to see what is the norm! Now got a 1 year old so need to decide…..

YABU - wrapped
YANBU- unwrapped

Wrapped with labels from Santa. As opposed to main presents which were wrapped with labels from parents. In the same handwriting, obviously.

MumChp · 08/12/2025 01:20

Unwrapped. Waste of paper.

hjhjhjhjhj · 08/12/2025 01:50

You are being unreasonable to spend time thinking about such things.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 08/12/2025 02:03

Santa doesn’t wrap!

so we knew wrapped gifts were from parents or others

santa gifts would be set up around the place not wrapped!

my sisters Barbie motor home was set up with the Barbie’s having lunch at the table

my bike was set up with a Teddy wearing my helmet sitting on the saddle etc

il be setting my babies toy kitchen up with some sort of fun setup along with whatever else we get for the kids -

certainly won’t be wrapping stocking stuff

Jambags · 08/12/2025 02:04

I always had it wrapped for me as a kid but my partner's werent.
For the stockings I fill, everything gets wrapped!

CheeseIsMyIdol · 08/12/2025 02:11

Most wrapped, a few items unwrapped.

I also wrap in tissue paper and fold and tuck the ends over. Still slows down unwrapping, keeps things as little surprises, but soooo much less faff than paper and tape.

I do exactly this too!

And if kids.. The elves do this to save time as there are soooo many presents they have to deliver, to ensure everyone has their gifts by morning!

Absolutely not wrapped! Jesus, talk about making a rod for your own back 😂
With 3 dc i'm so incredibly pleased that we never started wrapping stockings.

The best tip I ever read was on here. Buy two identical stocking per child. Pre-fill one and on Xmas Eve all you need to do is swap them out.

We have six identical stockings...three which the dc will lay out on Xmas Eve and 3 which are currently full, wrapped in black bags and hidden under our bed 😆

Brilliant idea!

TheFutureFreaksMeOut · 08/12/2025 02:51

Not wrapped!

CookingFatCat · 08/12/2025 03:05

The longer it takes the better - always opened on our bed so I’m sneaking in the zzzzz They love the anticipation!!

ohnotthisagain2020 · 08/12/2025 03:08

No. The stocking is the wrapping.

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 08/12/2025 03:11

Our stocking gifts are wrapped in reuseable drawstring gift bags ... bought on ebay many years ago. They just get put to one side and put away with the stockings each year. Then when i pick up stocking fillers they go straight into the gift bags ready for distribution by santa on christmas eve x

Worralorra · 08/12/2025 06:51

I never had a stocking as a child. For my own DC, the presents are not only wrapped, but are labelled as coming from Santa, his Elves and sometimes from the Reindeer!

It’s a tradition that we started when they were very young, and to them, it’s the best part of Christmas (they are fully adult now!) The stockings were always left on their beds, inviting them to open these as soon as they woke up, and meaning that they’d come into our bedroom to excitedly announce that Santa had been (they always knew that their “big” presents were from their relatives - so these were the ones that had “come down the chimney”!). As they got older, they kept up the pretence and it’s very much a family joke!

The trick is to make sure that there is some consistency (E.g. chocolate coins, an orange Etc.) but to include some silly gifts and some useful ones (pens, toiletries and so on). I try to make up each stocking to about 10 items and that’s always the first presents they unwrap in the morning, leaving the main presents under the tree for after breakfast…

Notmyreality · 08/12/2025 06:59

No

LostMySocks · 08/12/2025 07:02

I wrap in tissue paper and am definitely not neat.
Makes the stocking crackle and also means that it's easy to remember what goes to each child.

Xiaoxiong · 08/12/2025 07:06

My annual argument with DH!! He says wrapped (as his were as a child). I say not (as the stocking is the wrapping - mine were not wrapped as a child).

Result is every year that he wraps all the stocking presents (in different paper for each child) while I do the others, and I am done long before him and put my feet up!

Rainallnight · 08/12/2025 07:11

I asked this question on Facebook once and it was my most hotly debated thread ever!

I wrap but get little Christmas gift bags to do it with. They’re just little paper pouches so it’s just a matter of shoving the thing in, and taping it closed. I swear by this method.

TableLegs001 · 08/12/2025 07:31

With a one year old, wrapped but with all the tags and any batteries already cut off/in the toy so the DC can play with the toy right away.

Snugglemonkey · 08/12/2025 07:33

We wrap nothing.

TeenToTwenties · 08/12/2025 07:34

Mine weren't wrapped as a child.

I wrap, but with less care and attention than for main presents. We use a print of paper that isn't used for other presents. We have small stockings that only fit 6-8 things.

SouthLondonMum22 · 08/12/2025 07:35

Unwrapped here.

PlazaAthenee · 08/12/2025 07:38

Never.
Only gifts under the tree are wrapped.

hmmnotreallysure · 08/12/2025 19:30

No, we never wrap stocking gifts, only the gifts that go under the tree.

ShodAndShadySenators · 08/12/2025 20:00

My mum didn't wrap our stocking presents but I definitely do wrap. Not every single thing as some chocolate articles are wrapped very nicely already, but all others get done. I use tissue paper in different colours and whack a festive sticker or piece of sticky tape to secure it, so they're not as neatly done as the tree presents but good enough. I think there is an extra layer of frisson with having a bit of wrapping hiding the item for a bit longer. And not because I bloody love wrapping, nope
