She’s on the One Show. My son looked up her age as he didn’t believe she could be pushing 60. She looks 30. What the heck?

Botox, fillers and a face lift, sounds pretty tweaked to me...

I didn't day it wasn't. It clearly is very much a lot of work.

SlothfullyYours · 06/12/2025 08:04

What is the point of being mean to a woman who has done so well?

Quote the person who was being mean. Not me!

Jeronnemo · 06/12/2025 08:13

Quite. No one is being mean. A significant majority are saying she looks great and being complimentary about her generally. Discussing obvious cosmetic work (whilst not being overly personal or derogatory) is not being mean.

Sartre · 06/12/2025 08:15

She’s had a lot of work done, nobody naturally looks that way at 60. She’s also no doubt eaten the finest food and had access to the best healthcare and personal trainers most of her life. Also childless- the stress from kids ages you!

SpaceRaccoon · 06/12/2025 08:31

I do think she looks like she's had a large amount of cosmetic and surgical intervention. I'm not saying this to slag her off in any way, I just don't think it's helpful to pretend that money or a hood lifestyle or not having children will produce that face at age 57, especially not the plumped look.

savvy7 · 06/12/2025 08:40

I think she's had a lot of work done, including a face lift. There must be an immense pressure in that industry to keep looking good. The average person - if anything like me - wouldn't have the time nor inclination to do that, and I'm thankful I don't have that pressure!

threesocksmorgan · 06/12/2025 08:40

she obviously has had work done. but she still looks like Kylie, and she is so trim I went green.

BatchCookBabe · 06/12/2025 08:43

Empress13 · 05/12/2025 23:50

How on earth can you use the Kardashians and Demi Moore as good examples they have had so
much work done! I would love to see these showbiz stars without having had fillers, Botox, facelifts, teeth done etc and I can bet you most will look their true age! Kylie does look incredible but let’s not forget good studio lighting and professional makeup could take years off any of us it’s not true life just saying

PMSL. All the women people named who are childfree have had loads of work done too LOL! 😆

And some of the woman I named have had nothing (or very little) done.

I can see that me saying some childfree women look older than women of the same age (who have children) has hit a raw nerve, so I'll leave you to it. 😎

Sweetbeansandmochi · 06/12/2025 08:44

So I just went away and looked at a few interviews because I thought she must look a bit odd in real life, not an edited music video.

No, she looks absolutely amazing. It’s not just her face, it’s her glow that’s youthful and how she moves when she dances.

I wish so much we knew what the real list of what her lifestyle looks like and what interventions she has done.

BatchCookBabe · 06/12/2025 08:48

moltac · 06/12/2025 00:30

I'm just pointing out that there is scientific evidence that shows, unfortunately that it does age you faster than if you stayed childfree even if that can be cosmetically compensated for, all those women have had a lot of work. It does appear that having kids does age us.

Speak for yourself. It's not aged me, or most women with children that I know.

And as I (and several others have said) there are plenty of childfree women who look older than their age, and their peers who have children look roughly their age or younger.

I know some childfree women don't like to hear this, but I can't do anything about that.

BIossomtoes · 06/12/2025 09:03

I have several friends who haven’t had children, they look the same age as the rest of us. One of them looks substantially older.

SoftBalletShoes · 06/12/2025 09:09

Just looked at some old photos of Kylie, in her Neighbours days. Her bushy hair was so pretty, really thick and curly. Very feminine and flattering. I think it's a pity that so many people have such flat hair these days. I was watching an old film a while ago, wish I could remember what, but it was set in the Eighties, and I was really struck at how much body everyone's hair had. Styles were much more forgiving than today's. Kylie's was a real lion's mane! In the Eighties we looked back at Ali McGraw's flat centre-parted hair in horror. It seemed like the ultimate frumpy do. We wanted big hair! I'd never have guessed that the Seventies flat centre-part would come around again and stay for decades! I miss my Eighties perm and hair mousse! Sorry for the tangent - Kylie's old hair took me right back.

Another thing is that there wasn't the pressure to have sleek hair, even when your hair is naturally curly and frizzy. You scrunched and went!

Absolutely agree with you about Carol Decker. T'Pau's album, Bridge of Spies, is probably one of the very few I've ever owned on vinyl, cassette and CD - I loved it when it was released and I think it is still fantastic all these years later.

Yes, I still have my T'Pau Bridge Of Spies vinyl, and the cassette, and the CD! Also their second album The Rage, and the third album The Promise. (On CD, vinyl, and cassette too.)

Saw them in concert recently too. Carol is a phenomenal singer. Not trained, no posh drama school, no privileges, or nepo baby shite, just a working-class, raw talent who did the local clubs, and did demo tapes, and worked her arse off trying to get her band signed.

She is a Queen. 👑 Grin

She looks good, but she's got that botoxed look. They all have too much expression coming through their noses because it's the only moving part left.

She also has one eyebrow botoxed much, much higher than the other. She thinks it looks characterful but it's just bizarre.

She always had one eyebrow higher than the other. She can't change that, it's her signature look.

What has made it look more exaggerated is having botox on her frown lines, it makes the brow go down at the front and you get the "spock eyebrows" effect. But her eyebrows were always a-symmetric.

A lot less pressure all round in the 80s. It was enough to be slim, you didn’t have to be super toned as well. You didn’t have to be tanned all the time either, or have big lips.

I have several friends who haven’t had children, they look the same age as the rest of us. One of them looks substantially older.

Same here. Despite the 'scientific evidence' that having children ages women, it's not a given that it will. Even the article says that actually!!! (It says it having children CAN age women ... not that it WILL.) It's nonsense that it's a given, and all women who have children will look a decade older than their age by the time they're 45!

I think this whole 'women with children will look 60 at 49, and childfree women will look like they're 45 when they're 60' kind of thing is a load of tosh. I know it's anedtotal, but I know 3 women in my village - all childfree and in their 40s and 50s. One looks about 3-5 years younger than her age, but the other two look about 5-7 years older. A number of the women with children just honestly look their age, or about 5 or 6 years younger. I don't think I actually know any women with children who look older than their age. As I said, I do know childfree women who do though.

IME, women who are childfree tend to be heavier drinkers of alcohol, and they're more likely to smoke (just IME,) and this ages them more than having children would age anyone.

Anyway, there's no point discussing this because it's all opinions and it's subjective, despite the 'scientific evidence.' (I put the 'quotes' because lots of this type of 'scientific evidence' is a load of shite!)

I think it’s the same as when some mothers say having children keeps you young mentally. I think that’s tosh. Your mental outlook does not depend on whether you have children or not.

@SoftBalletShoes I don’t think the perms were great for people’s hair though. My mum had one for about two decades and it was a lot of work, she went to the hairdressers a lot more than I do.

I did read many times she's not a particularly nice person and doesn't have any friends

I've never read that and wonder why you'd post that.

Maybe the poster was thinking of Kylie Jenner? That would make more sense.

Daisymay8 · 06/12/2025 13:38

Meryl Streep is 76 and still looks flawless.

She’s not had kids.

This is a good throw back to your son TBF!

Greenwitchart · 06/12/2025 14:14

I like her and I think she looks great.

Also I like that she is managing to keep things classy in her career and looks compared to someone like Madonna who destroyed her face with plastic surgery and comes across as desperate...

ViciousCurrentBun · 05/12/2025 19:23

She has also always stayed a consistent weight and not had children, the worry of children is a big contributer to ageing.

Absolutely true. The childless often look much younger!

Blimey, I'd hate to think what I'd look like if I'd had kids, then! Life stressors have aged me enough without them. And you're not taking into account that there is a lot of love and fun involved in having children, whereas that's not the case with the other life stressors that tend to age you, like divorce, serious illness, caring for difficult elderly parents, stressful job with no cutting back to care for cute little ones.

Definitely. And people weren't super-thin, it was OK to have curves, and there wasn't the level of facial perfection, either. Social media and wretched filters have a lot to answer for. And I feel there was less pressure for women to wear extremely sexy outfits.
