To dislike male cleaners in female public toilets?

I travel a lot with work, mostly via train. For some bizarre reason, a huge amount of train stations have male cleaners for the female toilets. Worse yet, these men are often doing non-urgent cleaning, such as washing mirrors etc.

This makes me very uncomfortable. If I’m not desperate, I’ll often just walk out.

I would question "often". But sure, I've had to spot-clean things in the loo from time to time. If I've been soaked (happens a lot as I cycle) I just stick myself under the dryer.

I have never seen a woman stripped-down in a public loo, I would say that would be extremely rare. If it did happen I'm sure a male cleaner would give her a moment - they are bound to get training on things like that.

I come across them often at pubs and restaurants. And I have had to do this myself, including mopping up a child’s vomit and leaking breastmilk.

I don’t want male people in the female toilet.

But I also agree that if it is clear that there is a male cleaner or maintenance person present, that female people can ask them to leave for a moment. However, I also fully understand that some women don’t even want male cleaners or maintenance there and if they want this, I will support their need not belittle them for that need.

I'm another who would question "often"...

Depends where you spend a lot of time, doesn’t it?

I'm yet again mystified by all these claims about intimate things people are supposedly doing at the sinks in toilets and in communal changing areas. I use public toilets almost daily and have never seen this. If I have to sort myself out, I do it in the cubicle and in the real world, nobody gives a shit who is cleaning the toilets, as long as they do their job and are professional.

It's very entertaining.

What an uncomplicated life you lead. Good for you.

Excellent, another thread linked on X to convince people that Mumsnet is a refuge for batshit crazies.
They're TOILETS, not sacred shrines to womanhood. Like most people, I know a lot of women and not one of them cares to waste their life stressing over the gender of toilet cleaners.
