For this burn? Done at the weekend. Really painful and swollen. Was putting on burn cream which is chlorhexadine gluconate but it seemed to irritate it so have put aloe Vera gel on. Help, its horrible 😢😞😔

If it’s bigger than a 50p piece get it seen

Wolfiefan · 02/12/2025 18:09

Call 111. It depends on various things including size and where it is.

dementedpixie · 02/12/2025 18:10

I dont see a picture

ToKittyornottoKitty · 02/12/2025 18:12

Depends where it is and how big it is, too hard to see in the picture. I’d call into a pharmacy tomorrow and see what they advise

mindutopia · 02/12/2025 18:13

If it’s still bothering you tomorrow, I might go to minor injuries or see if a nurse at the surgery can see you same day, but it wouldn’t be an A&E job for me. But they might give you some better dressings for it.

Burntt · 02/12/2025 18:13

I’ve only done the workplace first aid but I was taught bigger than a 50p get it seen

KnickerlessParsons · 02/12/2025 18:14

I probably wouldn’t unless it’s bigger than it looks. I’d cover it with cling film to keep it clean though.

333FionaG · 02/12/2025 18:17

I’m a nurse and would suggest cling film as other people have mentioned, painkillers, and no more aloe Vera or burn cream. How big is it and whereabouts on your body is it?

socksandshoos · 02/12/2025 18:19

Your pharmacist can give you advice. keep it clean & get some proper burn dressings from the pharmacy, mepitel or silflex for faster healing

Why no more aloe Vera or burn cream? Its on my hand and its probably about the size of a 1 pence piece. I thought cling film was just for the initial bit when youve just burnt yourself? I did it 2 days ago. Thank you so much for replying

Cling film has helped with the pain of burns for me in the past. No idea why but it seems to work.

dementedpixie · 02/12/2025 18:23

Dont put any cream on it, makes it too soggy
Cover with a non adherent dressing to keep it clean

Christmasmadness65 · 02/12/2025 18:25

Its just SO painful. I feel like i cant think about anything else but the pain

Did you pour cold water on for at least 20 mins?

Looks like a blister has burst. Keep it clean, antibacterial powder will help and cover it. It should heal, only seek medical attention if it doesn't.

tipsyraven · 02/12/2025 18:28

Take painkillers and call 111 for advice.

Octavia64 · 02/12/2025 18:28

The advice these days is don’t use creams.

yeah, I’d get it seen.

Have you taken pain killers?

Munchyseeds2 · 02/12/2025 19:17

Covering with cling film helps because it stops air getting to the nerve endings.
I'd get it checked/dressed tomorrow

Christmasmadness65 · 02/12/2025 19:27

It looks so painful ! No idea if you should get it seen but try ibuprofen and Clingfilm

1Messycoo · 02/12/2025 19:34

No this is not lift threatening! Yes it is painful take paracetamol and ibuprofen for
the pain .
keep clean and dry .

MoreRainbowsPlease · 02/12/2025 19:36

What caused the burn? Was it something hot or a chemical? You could go to a pharmacy and ask the pharmacist to look at it and then they can advise you if you would be better seeing a dr. Like others have said keep it dry and covered now. But if it is so painful it's all you can think about I would try and see your GP or maybe even a practice nurse if your surgery has them as that is a pretty deep burn so even if it isn't as big as a 50p I think it is worth getting it seen.

Christwosheds · 02/12/2025 19:36

I’d go to small injuries in the morning, and cover with cling film tonight.
