Posting for traffic.

Just been asked if I’m pregnant. Partner is against Mounjaro because of potential side effects and luckily tells me I’m perfect. But I’m not. I’m 4 stone overweight. I was trying to lose weight by walking, cutting down crap etc. but being perimenopausal isn’t helping.

I am surrounded by success stories of mounjaro.

I think I’m going to do it. I’d rather not tell partner. I do feel ashamed. Will I be able eat “normally” in terms of meals, when I’ll be with him?

Unfortunately it isn’t working for my DH, he’s been on it for 11 weeks and has only lost 1kg. I’ve only noticed the tiniest decrease in his appetite.

FurForksSake · 22/11/2025 22:17

I highly recommend a bottle of lactose you can purchase over the counter for constipation. It’s very sweet but works well without making your bowels lazy. Also psyllium husk and lots of water!

FurForksSake · 22/11/2025 22:19

@FastTurtle some people don’t respond until they are on the higher doses. If he keeps going and eats in a calorie deficit (priority for protein and fibre and consuming whole foods) it will work. You hear a lot about super responders or people who in some way it works at the lower doses (placebo) but it is designed for you to keep increasing until you reach the maximum dose or the dose which works for you.

Ok thanks, I don’t know much about it and don’t want to ask him too much as it’s his thing. There definitely hasn’t been any constipation or big appetite loss so far.

Shakeapeg · 22/11/2025 22:22

It’s changed my life. I’ve never eaten a lot but was nearly 5 stone overweight. Mounjaro gave me my happy life back and changed everything. It doesn’t just work on your appetite - it works on your blood sugar / insulin.

ShrankLastWinter · 22/11/2025 22:23

This time last year I felt like you. Now I’m 5.5 stone lighter.

Like pp have said: MJ, super-healthy diet, high protein, veg, exercise.

incognitomummy · 22/11/2025 22:24

Go for it.
my OH still doesn’t know.
I’ve lost 26% of me since Christmas. I started MJ in February.

I didn’t tell him as I didn’t want to be judged and I was concerned in case it didn’t work!!!

I lost weight even on the low dose. I’ve gone from a BMI of 30 to 23.

I’m very happy. I’ve started walking more and doing weights. And eating less.

MJ helps me eat less. I counted how many calories I need just to keep still and as a short person it’s not much. No wonder I was putting in weight and struggling to lose it.

mJ has helped me start to reprogram my brain and approach to food and life.

it isn’t a magic wand.

but YANBU to start it and not tell a soul.

go for it!!!

incognitomummy · 22/11/2025 22:25

And a side effect of me losing weight is that he has too!!!!

both of us being more mindful about what we eat and drink.
incl drinking less alcohol

sciaticafanatica · 22/11/2025 22:25

I’ve never hidden I’m on it and I’ve never gone up from the lowest dose.
ive had no side effects at all!
what it has enabled me to do is fast really easily.
i do 16:8 or 18:8 no problem.
I’ve steadily lost weight and I’m really considering what I eat .
also chugging 2l of water a day minimum

You can’t have a very good relationship if he would judge you for trying to lose weight.

My weight loss has come from intermittent fasting too (I do one meal a day mostly). Mounjaro has just made it achievable long tem. Like having an electric bike for the uphill parts really.

BMI 23 now, 43 when I started in Oct 24.

Negotiating maintenance now.

FurForksSake · 22/11/2025 22:37

There is tonnes of support on mumsnet, it has been amazing for the WLI community I’ve found. I’ll forever be grateful to the 2025 Auggies and the maintenance crew.

if you do decide, find your starting month thread and jump on. You’ll find support and kindness and people that can completely relate.

Followthesunshine · 22/11/2025 22:38

If you eat normally you won't lose weight. I struggle now with eating breakfast, and can't finish a normal sized meal. I have an aversion to alcohol and fatty food. Anyone who knows me well can tell I am taking WLI because my behaviour with food has changed so much (for the better). My WLI get delivered in a large cold bag and the pen needs to be stored in the fridge until it is opened. If I had wanted to hide it from my partner I'm not sure how I would have managed it!

ittakes2 · 22/11/2025 22:41

you have to keep the medicine in the fridge how are you going to hide it?

KitsyWitsy · 23/11/2025 00:28

Why are so many people with ‘unsupportive partners’ or partners they can’t talk to? I don’t see the issue at all. I tell everyone.

Me too. Trying to hide it is like trying to hide having Diabetes or HIV or anything

OrangeKettle · 22/11/2025 21:50

I'm ashamed I’ve let myself get like this. And that I can’t seem to lose it.

You are being unreasonably hard on yourself just do if and stop feeling bad!xxx

It can be kept out of the fridge once it has been used.

hereforthecraic · 23/11/2025 01:13

Just do it and tell him it’s done xx

Realistically you don’t. It will be fine in a cool place

I know 4 people who take Ozempic/Rybelsius, all doing well, as they got slimmed they have had other things done- teeth implants, one had breast surgery etc- they eat more healthily too and less, cravings for sweet stuff seems to be gone, otherwise healthier as well some other conditions meds reduced or off them due to general health improving.

KilliMonjaro · 23/11/2025 06:36

Have a read of the weight loss injections board op.

Pigeonenglish · 23/11/2025 06:40

No side effects here and I personally wouldn’t bother with health coaching.

I just weighed myself and I’m overweight for the first time in years (rather than obese,) I can’t believe in July I was 15 and a half stone and nearly morbidly obese. I’m now 11’11.

Clumsykitten · 23/11/2025 06:45

There’s a whole load of support threads and good places to ask questions on the dedicated board. Lots of people who have experience of it.

i can say I’m about 2 months in and i’m happy but I haven’t lost quickly enough for anyone to notice anything. It’s not easy but for me it’s worth it.

The thing I’d say is that not telling your partner isn’t amazing and he may notice. Maybe you can ask for his help with upping your fibre and protein intake, which is effectively the diet you need to go on with MJ.

PieInTheSkie · 23/11/2025 06:49

arcticpandas · 22/11/2025 21:57

Start by signing up for a gym membership, eat more protein and vegetables. Ask your dh to support you- maybe go together? People have been able to lose weight without Mounjaro but it will mean breaking bad habits which is difficult but possible. Especially if you get your dh on board. Good luck!

Oh purleeese........THIS DOESN'T WORK FOR MILLIONS OF PEOPLE!
It is proven.
Keep up!!!!
