Does anyone else do paid surveys?

Things have started to suddenly feel very tight, and I’m literally desperate. I’ve been doing those paid market research surveys and making about £15 a day but everyone around me is horrified that I’m basically selling all of my data.

im not particularly arsed, but has anyone else done these and felt that they actually help out?

Hi I do some, I aim to make £5 a day, I can’t see the harm? It helps me a lot

I just think, if i manage to do £15 a day that’s about £450 a month. I’m keeping track of it all for tax purposes but my family seem to think it’s going to end badly

Five Surveys is good because you do five to get £5 and they pay out instantly.

https://fivesurveys.com/register?ref=9ee68e08-c1a3-402e-8e00-857aec44da0f - this is my referral link but you can just Google it if you don’t want to use that!

AtomicBlondeRose · 21/11/2025 10:19

I’ve been doing them for years and can make £200 a month when I’m on it. I’ve had product tests and all sorts which are really fun. No downside apart from your own time. And some sites are slow to pay out.

ProfessorRedshoeblueshoe · 21/11/2025 10:20

I think that's good. Anyway everyone else sells your data so why shouldn't you.

Nopenott0day · 21/11/2025 10:21

Companies already have most of your data anyway. As long as you are comfortable with the questions (and tbh most are along the lines of 'How often do you shop at Asda?') then I don't see a problem.

Canttakeitanymore1 · 21/11/2025 10:32

How on earth are you making 15 per day from this? Someone told me about this once and I signed up, by half the surveys said I wasn't eligible and the other half took forever to get through and the reward was pitiful!

I’m literally doing them all morning before work and all evening after. I’m using about 5 apps and just trying as many as I can. Even 10p is 10p more than I’d have before!

Why would it end badly? Declare your income as required, & pay any tax due, I don’t see a downside?

im impressed you are managing £15 a day,,

Mauhea · 21/11/2025 10:44

I'm a member of Prolific which is academic (and now, unfortunately, AI training) surveys and study participation. I dip in now and then for a bit of hobby pocket money but if you have the time it can pay quite well depending on your demographics.

I’m on the waitlist for prolific

I have no idea. I’ve got a spreadsheet going, it calculates the tax based on the £1,000 allowance and everything like that.

You sound really organised op, I’d ignore them & carry on!

I don’t want to fall foul of the rules, but it’s proving really fruitful for me so far!

I signed up for the, "5 A Day" survey thing today, using the link. Unfortunately, I think I've discovered the flaw in the plan if trying to earn a bit of extra cash doing consumer research when rather poor.

I am not much use as a consumer because I am not comsuming very much. I answered honestly and kept being kicked out as of being no interest.

Sooner or later, it will come up whether or not you actually buy this product, travel in this fashion, drink that beer or whatever and whoops!

I had high hopes of a rather more free form, write your own answers survey on 5 A Day, which asked me, as the first question, "Name two things that would reduce world hunger."

"Start off gently, why don't you?" I thought but I applied myself and wrote a decent enough reply.

Still got kicked off.

YouGov still finds me interesting. But I've been doing that for a year now and still haven't got my 25€.

The world hunger one is a screening question. To make sure you’re not a bot

I do market research via Zoom and its quite lucrative. Got £140 this week for 3 hours work critiquing a financial work and £80 for one on toothpaste.

HellsBellsAndCatsWhiskers · 21/11/2025 17:12

What site do you use OP? Ignore people saying these sites will be collecting your data; our data is already out there everywhere for free!

Does this only operate during work hours? I’d be interested in learning more!

I use the apps which pay you to play games. It's not £15 a day by any stretch but last year it paid for a lot of Christmas presents! I generally use the ones that pay Amazon vouchers. I've currently got about £70 to claim on various apps. That's taken me a couple of months though. It's not an income! But I like playing games and the money is a bonus 😀

ParisCityofLights · 21/11/2025 18:49

@Mikart yes please do tell

Most are in the evening. There are some national companies on Martyn Lewis website but I googled local research companies and signed up.
I do a lot of financial and investment ones, but its very random.

If you're a gamer (video games) I thoroughly recommend the Good Gamer Group - you can get five/ten pounds for a five minute survey, and if you're eligible they regularly do focus groups that pay £100-150.
