Ex won't remove his belongings

I have made several attempts to contact my ex partner to arrange collection for their belongings in my property. Some of these items include clothing, TVs and electrical equipment. He has blocked me and also my friend who contacted him, trying to prompt collection. This is just a way of controlling me and I'd really just like to get the stuff out of my home and move on. Where would I stand on taking the stuff to the skip and just getting rid of it all? I've tried to contact him multiple times but am still blocked.

Can you just dump it outside his family home?

Achewyhamster · 13/11/2025 12:17

I had this

The fool walked out, leaving his crap behind

I contacted him (in writing) saying he had until x date (about a month) to get his stuff or id take it all to the tip

He laughed and said I couldn't do that-i had to hang on to it until he got round to picking it up

It got to the date and he hadn't picked it up so I got my mother to take it to the tip

6 years (and a house move later) he tried to get in touch to say he 'was ready' to come and get it!

I informed him id got rid of it the day after the deadline

He was purple with rage and threatened to take me to court

I couldn't stop laughing and didnt hear another thing

I would have loved my day in court-it wasn't about his stuff,it was about control (and him laughing at the thought of me tripping over his stuff whenever I went into my bedroom)

If he took his tools, and is self employed tradesman get a bloke to ring him to book him for a job and have the stuff packed up on the mate’s doorstep with a note, or you answer the door to him when he rolls up to do the work! His face will be a picture, lol

This happened to me. I hired a man with a van to come and collect his things and drop them off at his place. I didn’t care about the expense. I needed his stuff out so I could move on. Might not be possible for you if you don’t know where he lives.

NigellaWannabe1 · 13/11/2025 22:25

Just sell it and go on holiday with the money.

My daughter had a similar problem when her ex partner moved out ( he lived with her in her house) the parting was amicable and she couldn't understand why numerous attempts asking him to shift his stuff including glof clubs and a bike worth £1000 were ignored. In the end she moved it all into the garden contacted his Grandma who he lived with and said if it wasn't gone by the end of the next day she would ring the local charity shop to collect it. Guess what it was gone by teatime 😄

  • Provide written notice with a clear deadline (14 to 28 days).
  • Record all correspondence and efforts.
  • Safely store items during the notice period.
  • After the deadline, dispose of or sell items, keeping records of value and proceeds.
  • Even if they ultimately complain, police basically don't care about this sort of case. If you did the above, you're covered.

Keep the messages or screenshots, OP. Get the friends who messaged him for you to forward the messages or screenshots to you.
Just imagine how free you will feel when it's gone!

@Vaxtable he's self employed unfortunately! Literally the only thing he took was his tools and some underwear.

I reckon you could easily find out where he is working and drop his crap off for him. or aska friend to come and quote some work, when he trurns up give him his crap back..

MrsJeanLuc · 14/11/2025 16:58

Of course in order to sue you he would have to list all the items and prove they are all his. Does he have receipts?
I'd be inclined to say:
"stuff? what stuff? I thought you took everything with you"
