im Losing my hair. That’s it really. It breaks my heart every single day the hairs falling out . I know to some it’s only hair but to me I can’t bear the thought of going bald without my choice. I’m 35 and have just had my bloods done at the doctors for iron , thyroid etc and all normal. In August I was briefly hospitalised for anemia so I think it’s from the stress of that but I have no idea. I take pumpkin seed oil, biotin the lot.

no idea what I want from writing this but I’m over it . Including pictures of my hair and my hair loss. It certainly isn’t normal.

I’m actually ready to shave my hair off I can’t cope with this.

Ds had hair that looked like yours during a time of significant stress. At the time he wasn’t leaving the house much . He started to take multi vitamins and as the stress ended his hair loss eventually stopped . Not sure if the multi vitamins helped or not it but figured they couldn’t hurt

100% it’s from stress. I’ve been in a flare since August and haven’t been able to work since then. Doctors can’t agree on a treatment for me as I have 2 conditions. It’s annoying because the more my hair falls out the more I’m stressed as I can’t cope with it. It’s like a rollercoaster going round and round.

I just wanted to add, definitely don't shave your hair. A friend suggested it to me when I lost my hair and I'm so glad I didn't take the advice. If i had done that I would have had short hair for ages when it started growing back.

I second this. I had a short course of Ferratin sulphate from GP and I added in a good quality Biotin and Daily Vitamin/Mineral tablet and increased my protein (diet had been been lazy and mainly carbs for months) after 3 months my thin receding arrows did start growing back. I have to nag myself to eat protein though - as an almost vegetarian I don’t like it really. Eggs were my saviour. Good luck OP.

Thank you. People underestimate the power of good quality cvitimins in a researched vitamin type for the current situation.

I have an autoimmune disease (coeliac) and have been losing my hair since I was 18. It got a bit better when I was diagnosed and stopped eating gluten, but is still thinning. I don’t think there’s much I can do, so I try not to worry about it. Grateful for any tips if you know of things I could be doing.

Hope you’re ok, OP. Don’t worry - it’s not just you!

I shaved my hair off, @Deebee90 when my lifelong alopecia ramped up to the point where it was getting ridiculous to try and mitigate its appearance.

I honestly felt great about it afterwards. Partly because it felt like wrestling back some control over the situation. Partly because it put an end to the slightly disgusting and very demoralising presence of yukky fallen hair everywhere. But mostly because the remaining hair on my head (after the day or so it took to regrow a couple of millimetres) just felt so strong and healthy compared to the sad long mess before shaving. I loved the velcro feel of it. I loved that it had none of the worn-out unhealthy dullness of longer hair.

I can't say I liked the look of myself without hair, but by that point I was pretty much covering up anyway, mostly with the nice hair loss turbans you can get.

Eventually I had to progress to a wig. That is a horrible hump to get over, but once you are on the other side it does work really smoothly. Flowers

I have a couple of smalll bald patches at the front of my hair caused by an autoimmune condition type of alopecia. My GP (who is a woman and I say that because even she admitted men don’t understand how upsetting it is) referred me straight away to a hospital who prescribed oral minoxidil which has helped me. I know that you cant take it but just wanted to let you know my situation. I also take Vit D tabs and collagen and use hair fibres on the patch at the front no-one notices but me. Hope you get it sorted I feel for you it’s one of the worst things to happen to a woman

Hey! Sounds like telegon effluvium. I had this after being hospitalised in 2018 after losing 30 pounds in 3 weeks. Your body turns off non essential things to care for the rest of your body. So your hair always takes the hit. What helped me is time. I cut my hair short. So there was less to come out or see. Sounds silly but the less I had the less it came out. I used to braid my hair and only wash the top of it so not much hair came out in the shower. I combed it twice a day only. I used rosemary oil on my scalp which can help regrowth. I took supplements like biotin, selenium but you can get hair supplements especially for this. I also saw a trichologist if you can afford it. It really affected my self esteem, it was honestly horrible. You really have my sympathy. My hair fall lasted for about 6-8 weeks then you will notice it getting lesser and lesser. The hair that was left changed consistency became brittle, a different colour and texture. I lost about 50% off my hair in the end. In 3 months time you will start to see regrowth. Good luck.

SoloTripSoloVibes · 27/11/2025 06:58

OP, I lost her half my hair because of weight loss

Glowwa vitamins and the L’Oréal growth booster serum have stopped it. I lose probably 3 or 4 hairs a day now

Electricsausages · 27/11/2025 07:07

I think mine falling out was / is related to the menopause ( doc didn’t really know) but I’ve been applying a Steroid liquid to my scalp and mine has grown back a bit you could ask your doc to try it

Skippydoodle · 27/11/2025 07:55

I think it sounds very much like telegen effluvium (spelling?). I would get yourself an appointment with a tricologist to confirm. This typically happens 3 months after en emotional or physical shock - I had it happen after a short but severe illness. The good news is that it does stop. My hair fell out for around 4 months and looked bloody awful. However, the new re growth has left me with the best hair, I’ve ever had.

acountrymile · 15/02/2026 18:07

Hi

I did what TheCorrsDidDreamsBetter suggested and had my hair cut into a short bob which makes it look much thicker and also have a bigger fringe with 3 extensions underneath. These changes have made me much happier but I am going to try minoxidil as well after reading the replies here. I can't take pumpkin oil with saw palmetto because I am on blood thinners. I have been taking biotin and various vitamins for many years, hard to know if they are helping. Good luck with it all. It is no fun when your hair is so important. 💗

DamnFineWoman · 15/02/2026 18:45

I feel for you OP, I’m loosing my hair at the front and it’s very distressing! My GP told me ‘it was one of those things’ so I just took biotin and got on with it.

Last summer I had had enough and sought out a private appointment with a consultant who specialised in female hair loss.
i wish I had seen her sooner! 😢
she explained that hair loss can be reversed if it caught soon enough.
She has me on a course of treatment on her NHS clinic and I see her every two months. She has warned me that I might not get the hair loss back but she’ll do her very best to stop it getting worse.

don’t put up with it OP, it can be treated ❤️

doobaz · 15/02/2026 18:54

I'm the same too 😥 I'm nearly 52, mine only started thinning in the last few years so I think it's definitely hormone related

Katemax82 · 15/02/2026 18:58

My daughter's friends mum is bald apparently but you would never tell as she has a very realistic wig. I had no idea until my daughter told me (she has alopecia)

MyNextDoorNeighbourVotesReform · 15/02/2026 19:04

What are your testosterone levels like?

SoSadandTired7 · 15/02/2026 19:08

My mum (when going through chemo) got some really beautiful wigs from London. They were artificial as we couldn't afford proper human hair ones and they're not recommended when having chemo as you don't have the energy to care for them. It was honestly gorgeous, she wore it for 2 years (replaced once) and no one, I mean no one, could ever tell it wasn't real. They were only about £300 (6 years ago).

I just wanted to mention it as most people (myself included before I saw these) think wigs are horrendous things but they are beautiful nowadays.
