To think hide and slide doors don’t make up for the fact Neff ovens are impossible to clean.

Didn't get pyro as don’t want the bills and high temperatures. Can see why many do though as Neff ovens are impossible to clean without. There is a whole list of what you can’t use to clean them and the stupid steam function doesn’t do anything. For the price surely they should be easier to clean!

Just use whatever cleaning products work -
its not like you are going to
be using them every 5 minutes

strikes me NEFF are just trying to scare you into using only their products.
The coatings won't come off ....follow the instructions to take the door off

Or just pay someone to do it!

The reviews say they don’t work. They’re £££. I’d grudgingly buy them if they were going to work. They don’t.

I’ve got one. We use normal oven cleaner. The sky hasn’t fallen in.

I was so convinced I wanted a hide and slide neff oven… after reading this thread I’m not so sure 😬😩

Bergmum · 10/11/2025 12:03

The coating is only on the walls. The base of the oven is a different material that can be cleaned with regular oven cleaner. I think it's just the rough material on the walls that shouldn't have regular oven cleaner used on it.
I use oven mate cleaner from lakelands on the base and shelves and then run the eco clean cycle which is meant to ciean the walls.

Avoid! I wish I had.

The one where you pour warm soapy water into the bottom and it steams itself, and then your scrub the insides down.

Yep done that regularly. It does not work.

To be fair they are good ovens (had mine for 3 years). I have a pyrolytic one and it is easy to clean as it burns the stuff to ash which you then just wipe off. The door however is not easy to clean. There are videos on how to clean it but I've always been a bit nervous about taking it apart. Other than that I've been very happy with mine.

The thing with pyro is it isn’t just the cost it’s the heat and smell. Lots on line saying parts of the oven get damaged, the heat is so intense.

Maybe we cook very different things, or have a different approach to using trays.

Also worth checking your bottom element is working properly, otherwise the cleaning function won’t do much.

Just open a window? It does make a smokey smell I agree, but all you have to do is wipe up the ash residue and it’s spotless.
But as you haven’t got the pyro setting, I’m not sure what you can do other than try oven cleaner.

Of course it's important to ventilate the room when running it and I make sure I do it when the kids and cat aren't about. I've heard it can potentially do damage if you leave the racks in and so I always make sure these are taken out.

Exactly this.

I run the base clean (with soapy water) when the oven tells me. I then use oven cleaner on the base when it gets a bit grotty. But never the sides!

Then I run the pyro clean also when it tells me too. I'm very obedient to my oven like that.

I then put the shelves and sides in the Oven Pride plastic bag thingy 2 or 3 times a year, depending on when they need it.

I agree cleaning the inside of the door is a pain in the arse though.

Never put the sheets on the bottom. I did that once and it was a disaster - the mess under the sheet when I took it out took forever to clean up! The instructions are not wrong in saying don't use those!

I have a hide and slide. I do use the pyro function about twice a year for a deep clean. But weekly I use normal oven cleaner on it and it's perfectly fine !

I'm so glad you've said this as we have a relatively new Neff Slide and Hide and I've obviously missed the part about not using normal cleaning products on the inside so was worried I've ruined the oven!!

I know what you mean. Our Neff oven has the pyrolitic cleaning function but I've never used it, as am afraid the extreme heat might damage the kitchen units.
We've had the oven for 4 years and apart from using Oven Pride onthe shelves from time to time, it's never been cleaned!
I'll probably eventually pay someone to come and clean it.

isitmyturn · 10/11/2025 12:50

Wish I'd seen this thread before I had my neff delivered last week.
Thing I don't like and it's my fault for not noticing is that it has two grills. I don't want a grill in my main oven as they're impossible to clean.

Having said that I would ignore rules about cleaning. Life is too short to hand wash pans or fancy glasses or dry clean anything but the most precious. Same applies to ovens.

You don't have to use your oven like a raccoon just because you have pyro.

Keep it reasonably clean like any normal oven - what the hell do you do in yours that it gets so dirty?

When you keep your oven reasonably clean, you only run the pyro when needed, I think mine is about 3 times a year. Even a quick wipe after a roast chicken is enough. It only gets super smokey and stinky if there's a lot of mess to burn.

I also don't put food without dish/ foil or greaseproof paper. My oven is pristine.

Life is way too short to deep clean ovens. You don't want one, perfectly reasonable, but you don't know what you are missing, it's amazing 😂

I have the oven I wanted ie without pyro that I was planning to clean myself which it appears you can’t.

I am a clean cook and don’t even use it every day. It’s very hard to keep to keep spotless when you can’t use products on it and actually given the cost I should be able to use products on it to keep it clean!

Our Neff is fine. Had it professionally cleaned once with no problems. Do the steam clean whenever it asks for it.

LesLavandes · 10/11/2025 14:03

I have a pyro hide and slide. It’s fine. However burnt food etc has got inbetween glass on door and I’m not confident to take door off and apart

You do know the world won’t end if you use oven cleaner on it? You’ll just invalidate your warrantee on the internal coatings.

Ginmonkeyagain · 10/11/2025 15:25

I often use Astonish Pink Stuff paste on our NEFF oven - it is fine.
