Does anyone else miss their first boyfriend?

I split up with my first boyfriend about 8 years ago. We were together for 3 years. We were very up and down due to his MH issues. When things were good they were great and we had some great times together. But whrn they were bad they were awful.

I’ve since married a lovely man and have two gorgeous daughters. But whenever something reminds me of my ex I feel a pang of sadness that things didn’t work out. I would say I think about him most days. I would NEVER do anything about this and I’ve not seen him since we broke up.

anyone else reminisce about an ex a lot? Is this normal with a first relationship?

I often think about exes. Fond memories that they are a part of. I also think of the person I was with them, I miss her too! I think its quite normal to do this.

I get angry when I think about my first boyfriend. What the hell was I thinking? How could he have treated me like that? Why did I stick around?

No I'm glad he's doing well , as he probably worked hard for it .
And I don't think it's healthy to be gutted , after all I was the dumper and at 17 who knows how it would have gone !

I think first loves stay with you forever, but you only remember the best bits. And then you probably didn’t have to deal with the hard work of life like mortgages, office politics, children or ill health.

Yep, he's been working away this week. I've missed him loads. He'll be home tomorrow. Can't wait.

I sometimes miss the few good times we had and feel a general nostalgia for that time in my life (late teens), but I don’t miss HIM, no. He was a narcissist who went on to hurt me in various ways. That was 30 plus years ago though!
I did have a very passionate crush in my early twenties on a guy I had chemistry with and we had a cheeky kiss once, but he had a girlfriend. I think about him from time to time, probably more than my first boyfriend, but I wouldn’t say I miss him either.
Happily married for 13 years.

I went to the funeral of a friend from my teens earlier this year. BF1 and BF2 (both platonic relationships) were also there as they had gone to school with the deceased.

I am not sure it's about the actual person. I think it's more about being younger no responsibility and the ability to be carefree

No, I never missed my first boyfriend. I made a bad choice in dating him and it was not a good relationship. It could have been worse, but I was relieved the relationship was over.
