A massive waste of public money policing a game where violence is so expected that schools have had to close early.

It’s just a game. Just football. Shouldn’t be a drain on public services.

I haven’t seen anyone deny rape? Are you talking about the poster that said someone had fallen for propaganda?

Er, yes...the one that claimed Hamas's crimes, including rape, were 'propaganda'.

Are you really struggling to understand this two post interaction?

EasternStandard · 06/11/2025 21:19

@PevenseygirlQQwhat do you mean, those Hamas atrocities didn’t happen?

Where did I say they didn’t happen?

PevenseygirlQQ · 06/11/2025 21:20

So does that not mean people can support innocent Palestinians? I think Gaza/Israel have affected the UK, and many places in the world do you not?

Supporting innocent Palestinians is not the issue as I'm sure you know.
It's sectarianism, pure and simple. MPs elected to try to weaken our diplomatic ties with an important longtime ally.

I’m asking you to clarify what you mean re Hamas in your post

And @blankcanvas3too, are you saying those Hamas atrocities are propaganda so did not happen?

No I was trying to find out what post you meant, I didn’t make the post about the propaganda.

You jumped on me because I said no one was sticking up for Hamas and then you told me someone had.

Maybe you should take that up with the original poster of that comment?

Palestinians are not all ‘innocent’. Or at least not those who stood cheering and spitting at the abused corpse of a poor young girl being paraded on their streets in the immediate aftermath of 7th October.

SummerOctopus · 06/11/2025 21:24

blankcanvas3 · 06/11/2025 16:07

It should be played behind closed doors. But I still don’t think that would solve the issue of the protests that will be ongoing outside the stadium. Israeli teams shouldn’t even be playing European football imo, and that’s before I even get onto the fact that they should be banned from all competitions just like Russia is, and South Africa was.

Good point, Israel shouldn't be competing anyway.

I didn’t say all I specified innocent Palestinians

I said Hamas was evil, I didn’t deny anything they have done.

Which should equally apply to Israelis, yet banners and flags today, waved around Villa Park by the protestors indicated they were not welcome.

Loadsapandas · 06/11/2025 21:40

intrepidpanda · 06/11/2025 15:32

If Aston can't welcome Jews from Israel, then the game should be moved to Tel Aviv.

Didn’t Tel Aviv recently cancel a match due to MTV hooliganism?

Well, I was addressing your comment because it wasn't true that nobody is defending Hamas, demonstrably so within the thread.
As for that person - their comment is just disgusting, no point in engaging there. But at least let's acknowledge that there is a problem, also reflected in these 'Gaza independent' MPs: it's not about humanitarian concern, and they will absolutely lie about basic facts.

CrossChecking · 06/11/2025 21:54

weareallqueens · 06/11/2025 20:42

You know nothing about this team and their fans. That comment is just embarrassing.

Yeah I have to say that comment is a bit baffling. The police have come out and said that it is some of the Macabi tel Aviv fans that pose a threat and that is the primary reason the fans were banned. They were concerned about violence from the Macabi tel Aviv fans towards members of the public. They were clear that what was different about this match is that it their intelligence said that the risk wasn't football hooligan on football hooligan violence but that MTA fans might turn on the public like they did in Amsterdam the day before the match there.

They have been really clear that the primary reason behind the ban is violent Israelis and the risk that they post to the Great British public.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 06/11/2025 21:59

TheGrimSmile · 06/11/2025 14:18

Or just stop the away fans. Like they usually do when away fans have form for violence. But we can't do that can we...

As the police in Birmingham wanted. Not like they knew what they were talking about is it 🙄🙄🙄 This has really annoyed me.

OldBurt · 06/11/2025 21:59

TheWickerWoman · 06/11/2025 14:59

It’s nothing to do with fans, it’s the locals who are the threat. The ground is situated in a predominantly Muslim area.

It is not true that 'the locals are the threat'. The away “fans” were banned because they are notoriously violent and racist hooligans.

Exactly.

Loadsapandas · 06/11/2025 22:09

TeenagersAngst · 06/11/2025 20:01

Yes, I’m sure there are just as many MTA fans as there are local Muslim people (who don’t even support Villa, by the way).

Because let’s not forget, this is all about football and nothing to do with sectarian politics.

Edited

What makes you think Muslim people don’t support villa?

How do you know they don’t?

stomachamelon · 06/11/2025 22:15

@ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea exactly nothing. It was a derby and cancelling during the game due to flares ( a child was injured) Flares feature heavily at games in Europe.

Anyway they didn’t get tickets/ turned down allocation and as the people who really supported this said it was just about ‘hooligan’ MTA fans then surely there should have be no problems tonight? At all? Not arrests of kids in masks in dispersal areas?

stomachamelon · 06/11/2025 22:17

@CrossChecking have you got the article that said ‘Israelis’ and that they were endangering the ‘great British public’ ?

stomachamelon · 06/11/2025 22:23

And once again this thread is being derailed when it was about a football match which people lobbied to have stopped and fans banned - just based on MTA fans and yet they are still continuing to protest. Which makes this situation nothing to do with football.

SummerOctopus · 06/11/2025 22:27

Is the match over now? Who won?

Also, why were they standing outside waving Palestine flags if they are fans? Did they forget to go inside and watch the game?

Some of the Muslims i know in Birmingham are die hard villa fans. Never miss a single game, so that's bollocks.

The fans were obviously inside. Did you go inside to check how many Muslims were there?
