Are you surpsied at this weather for November?

It's 14C. Up north of all places and it is 6:30pm in November. Are you surpsied as this time last year was about 11 or 12C. Do you think this is the norm now. What do you think will happen at Christmas as it got up to 11C on Christmas Day last year here and the year before it was 11 too. I've heard of worse unseasonal weather. 29C in most places in October 2011 and a 10C day in West Yorkshire in June 2017 (or was it 16). Is this normal for November. Is this also good to put the heating on as when it only got to 13/14 in June 2024 people thought that was cold (albiet it was the daytime) and central heating was on (went to single digits at night if I remeber correctly). But in November it's mild at 14C

I’m in Cyprus, attached is from earlier today. It is very strange. The reservoirs are empty.

FrostyMorn · 04/11/2025 20:19

It's abnormally warm and discombobulating - so odd to think Christmas is next month.

InterestedDad37 · 04/11/2025 20:21

I wish this was called "am I being unseasonable" 😅🍂🍁🥵

Hedjwitch · 04/11/2025 20:21

Spring bulbs already coming up which is annoying. I've noticed loads of people wearing shorts still. In Scotland. In November

Tulipvase · 04/11/2025 20:26

Warmest November day for the uk was 2015. These things aren’t linear. Of course there is an overall increase in temp due to climate change but there are also warmer and cooler periods. As there always have been.

Personally I love cold weather but can see how it must be helpful for people not having to put the heating on.

LindorDoubleChoc · 04/11/2025 20:44

I remember my Dad digging the garden and taking his shirt off because it was too warm and saying to my Mum "this is really mild for November" which I noted for some reason because I didn't understand particularly. I was only little. But they were divorced in 1974 so this was pre-1974.

Temporaryanonymity · 04/11/2025 20:47

Awful floods here in Swansea. Two years ago it was 14c on Christmas Day. Definitely climate change.

LaurieFairyCake · 04/11/2025 21:03

It was really cold last week in London, I had my big coat on

Zov · 04/11/2025 21:08

Seems normal. Bit warmer than usual, but not much... 14C here this week, and pissing down with rain 50-60% of the past week. Halloween was nice and warm and dry between 4pm and 7pm. Which was nice, for the trick or treating. Smile

Ilovecakey · 04/11/2025 21:09

Yes when I took my children trick or treating for Halloween I only had a hoody on and gloves and wasn't cold and I can remember taking my older childen years ago being in a coat and being freezing. I love that its not as cold anymore. I hate winter

Parky04 · 04/11/2025 21:15

It's currently 21 degrees in my living room. DH has shorts and a t shirt on!

Ilikewinter · 04/11/2025 21:29

Yep, neighbours blossom tree is starting to bud - that really confused me! DH is still sat in shorts, winter quilt is still in the cupboard. I think that March feels more like winter than November!

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 04/11/2025 21:34

It’s stormy here but mild, my house is 21 degrees with no heating on.

ChatBotBelly · 04/11/2025 21:34

No it gets really cold end of December, January and February.

Middlemarch123 · 04/11/2025 21:39

North Norfolk, bright and breezy today, cut the lawn and did some weeding, got too hot so in a T shirt! Two of the little doggies I walk have lovely new coats, but haven’t worn them yet. My postie and the Asda delivery guy both wearing shorts.

ItsNotUnusualToBe · 04/11/2025 22:28

Horrendous flooding round here today with the yellow weather warning staying in place overnight. Some of it is the usual flooded areas but it seems to be more often than it used to be. And there are some roads that are rarely or never this bad. West Wales.

sakura06 · 04/11/2025 22:29

I was in Wales last week and it was 0° with wind chill. It’s much warmer this week!

PickAChew · 04/11/2025 22:33

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 04/11/2025 19:41

We're just in a warm air section at the moment. It happens sometimes, depends on the wind direction - last week we had frosts. Tonight I've got a fan going in my bedroom as it's too warm!

This. Isn't this warm weather with some intense rain in places the remnants of Melissa?

Comedycook · 04/11/2025 19:48

I remember as a child going back to school in September and it being really cold..now I see September as basically still summer.

Really? I remember September's as always being lovely and warm still...guess it depends where you are in the county, and how long ago, this was best part of 35-40 years ago!

I've got strawberries in a greenhouse that have just flowered again. I'm beyond confused as are they.

I have herbs in containers and my mint is still growing - it usually has disappeared by now.

Barnbrack · 04/11/2025 22:42

Nothing surpsies me anymore

ninjahamster · 04/11/2025 22:47

It is certainly very mild. Went to my daughter’s graduation today in Bournemouth and we were on a terrace in the sun in t shirts. Right by the sea where it is usually cooler.
But with COL I guess it’s a real relief for many to not have to put the heating on.
Every day I’m opening the windows and back doors still. I’ve got an overheating issue myself so I’m always hot and that’s been a bit of a pain. Sweating constantly if I do any housework. Sweat running down my face.

Yes,this is what brought it home to me. I couldn’t compute it being December in just a few weeks. It felt like Spring today, and I saw wasps! It is disturbing really.

My ceonothus is having a second flowering - I have never seen this happen before!
Think how confused all the wildlife must be.

Pleasegetmeacoffeesotired · 05/11/2025 08:12

2 degrees here. I've just ordered some pram gloves so I can still feel my fingers after a walk.
