Thinking dominos, some card or phone betrayal game. All go home at 10ish unless they need to stay the night.

Aibu to ask for advice or is this perfect?

I would ask your dc. One of mine would love that. One of mine would see it as lame.

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 01/11/2025 22:48

13 or 16? Big difference

Also

Ask them

Oh. Sorry. She’s on board. It’s a common theme. Small group of 13.

Looking for extra ideas. 15 years old.

Im not changing the set up.

The imposter game is viral amongst teens stm. It’s an app but lots of fun. A little like Mafia. I would also maybe include a themed snack board situation to make it a little more interesting.

I’ve just found it! Thankyou. I knew there would be a parent out there who knew my intention.

“Small group of 13”

for card games? Dominoes?

Presumably divided in to groups as otherwise they’ll be waiting ages for their turn to play!

Mizztikle · 02/12/2025 14:37

Try and get a small popcorn and waffle maker roughly £20 each but you may get is cheaper atm. Get some ingredients for them to customise them like sprinkles, cinnamon sugar, biscoff sauce that sort of thing

Not yet. Coming up. The phone games and entertainment they will sort out between themselves. I will be ordering the food. I hadn’t thought about a chocolate fountain. I love it. Funnily I’ve just got a popcorn maker!

Quite pricy. Drinks fountain. But we use ours for any excuse. Had it years. Showstopper. Use with squash for kids and prosecco for adults. Top tip do not put anything with bits in it as will clog up the spouts

So 13 just going to turn up and sort out games themselves?

Mydadsbirthday · 02/12/2025 18:10

Do you mean Dominoes pizza or game?

You know they’re 15/16 right? They really don’t want me about organising little group games.

Yes
Hence finding the thread itself a bit weird

Waitwater · 02/12/2025 18:40

13x 15/16 year olds… and you think they’re going to want to play games?

I feel like you’ve got yourself all worked up over something before reading. There’s a bit of an imposter trend they play on their phones. They will also eat and chat. Enjoy a chocolate fountain and then go home. Maybe some popcorn aswell.

I just wanted ideas. I’m pretty confident what will happen as it seems to be what goes on. Sorry it’s not the answer you want or what suits the teenagers in your life.

😆

one for hyperbole aren’t you?!

Waitwater · 02/12/2025 19:14

13x 15/16 year olds in the lounge eating popcorn, chatting and playing games. Is this for her 16th?

all same sex?

Good luck is all I’ll say!

Sometimeswinning · 02/12/2025 19:28

They’re a close group and we have many get togethers during the holidays. This isn’t the first time I’ve had them all around but wanted this to be special as it’s her birthday.

Im sorry you thought it all hyperbole. You just come across as a bit critical.

Not critical

realistic

I just don’t see 13x 15/16 year olds sitting around in a lounge playing games, eating popcorn and then all bidding farewell to one another at… 10!

but I have a 16 year old boy, so perhaps that’s why I’m a little… well, wondering whether this is going to be a success.

all girls? Sure! But that’s quite a large group so within that surely they’ll just gravitate to their besties? It’s not like adults… who will mingle

It’s almost like I knew my own set up way more than you did.

You never know how a party will go. There could be an argument. It could be brilliant. Someone might cry. Someone might break something. They might not want to go home. I’m just asking for a few fun ideas. Not worst or best case scenarios.

Wow you’re very defensive. If you know them so well and are so sure your plan is perfect why are you posting? Do you want to be told what a cool mum you are? 🙄

A pick up at 11pm might be ok if at the weekend. They are usually night owls anyway.
