I won't name names but a celeb benefit cheat claimed the UC forms were too hard to fill out and she found it difficulty to understand the forms etc.

Think she has a second home (Owned by a few family members) but received £20+k

These weren't pip or any disability benefits.

Either start a thread about benefits cheats in general, or a thread about this particular woman. Otherwise there is nothing to discuss. The 'celebrity' was found guilty of cheating the system in 2019. Quite why it's relevant in 2025 is baffling.

There has to be a balance between accepting a claimant's declaration and requiring evidence. It's much harder to require evidence of something not existing, so benefit fraud that omits income/capital is much easier than fraud that wrongly declares rent amounts, etc. The DWP can and do prosecute. A quick Google found at least 4 similar cases from 2019.

If the courts have dealt with it, convicted her and she is a celeb then I am sure there will be press coverage.

Eta: just read that this was 6 years ago and person concerned is hardly a celebrity. Not sure what the point of this thread is.
