I am part of the multidisciplinary team which assesses children for cochlear implants. We then provide short term habilitation and longer term assessment followed by lifelong technical support.

We are with families as they make decisions with lifelong implications on behalf of their children. We can change lives.

jeaux90 · 25/10/2025 10:56

I am in Tech, I absolutely love my job. Run a team who provides consulting to clients to deploy the tech they have bought. Tech changes keep me on a constant learning curve and I deal with such a range of clients. I have found this industry really good as a lone parent, it’s really flexible and well paid.

Ilovemychocolate · 25/10/2025 11:01

Childminder…obviously self employed, work 4 days a week, only have EYFS children (mainly 2 year olds) who are endlessly fascinating and funny.
Out all day every day, loads of different adventures, lots of cm friends that I meet up with.
Decide what holidays I have and when.
Now that funding is available from 9 months, it’s extremely well paid.
Its not for everyone but I love it!

darksided · 25/10/2025 11:06

I’m an editor for a publishing house, completely remote and keep my own hours. As long as I hit deadlines I can work when I please, and the money’s pretty good. Genuinely the only job I’ve ever had that I love.

Pinkladyapplepie · 25/10/2025 11:11

I teach apprentices, mostly 16-20 year old lads. I love my subject, they don't! I really enjoy their energy, seeing them grow into adults, their banter and very different outlook on life.
It is a very pivotal time usually first job, learning to drive, getting a car, socialising, early relationships. They are so amusing, intense and lots of other things 🤣.
I also love the place I work and colleagues, so friendly and so helpful. I feel very fortunate.

I'm a Practice Nurse. I love my job because it's varied, engaging and helps people. Hours are good, pay is ok, colleagues are lovely.

zazazaaar · 25/10/2025 11:16

Help people set up sustainable charities. Basically spend the day working with lovely people who have a drive to make the world a better place. Love it.

Fuzzypinetree · 25/10/2025 12:12

I'm a teacher. I'm actually trained for primary/middle but currently teach at a private secondary. I enjoy my job and it works well around my kids (I'm a single parent, about to file for divorce). I'm lucky, though, in that I have worked there for a few years now and can also express my needs and wants and they are trying to be supportive and adjust my timetable to fit. (We've got strong union support at school.)
Every day is different and it keeps me on my toes. Pay is also pretty good.

JDM625 · 25/10/2025 12:17

I have a professional job in healthcare and did years in the NHS/private and all hands on, nights shifts etc. I now work from home, no commute, no unsocial hours but still help people- and get a decent wage.

Sal17690 · 25/10/2025 12:18

I'm a junior primary teacher and I really love it. Kids are hilarious. Colleagues are fabulous. Every day is different. Seeing kids achieve is a wonderful thing. Sometimes being their safe person is very sad but rewarding. I feel like I am making a real difference. The holidays are bloody brilliant too.

Hoppinggreen · 25/10/2025 12:19

Relocation and Education consultant, absolutely love it
Its SE though so not steady money but as I am very experienced and have great contacts I do OK

MrsALambert · 25/10/2025 12:23

SENDCO in a huge secondary school. Every day is different. Love meeting with parents and finding solutions to things. The kids are great, especially the challenging ones. I get to see a real difference made every day.

ChatOff · 25/10/2025 12:24

I was literally going to start a post like this myself. I'm really curious but happy to see that there are people in the teaching profession including a SENDCO of a busy secondary school who actually love what they do. It can be made so hard.

Nopenott0day · 25/10/2025 12:31

I have a very niche job, I think fewer then 20 women in the UK.

It's history/archaeology based and public facing. Wide range of demographics, one day I can be with a class of 5 year olds and the next with 95yr olds!

I love it, history is my passion and I love being able to share that passion.

The only downside is the pay is not brilliant, but I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

PangolinPan · 25/10/2025 12:39

I'm a personal assistant in a Comms department. I mostly love it because the people are lovely and it's very low stress, after working in the community for years. I also get to do fun stuff occasionally on visits to clients 😊

KittyRannaldini · 25/10/2025 12:42

School cook, I love it. Fits around my child's school times, I have always loved cooking and worked in catering since I was 16 ( with breaks for other things, but always come back to it).

Do you mind me asking what you do? I’m a DN with my SPQ and am getting so fed up

MerylSqueak · 25/10/2025 12:46

I work in a specialist ALN unit within a school. I love getting to know the kids being able to tailor classes to their needs. Best of all are my colleagues. We all pull together.

foodtoorder · 25/10/2025 13:00

@JDM625 do you mind sharing what this job is?

StonwEd · 25/10/2025 13:16

I work in Premier league football in a non football role, but very senior. That's about as specific a i can be but I used to be a teacher and it was a natural jump.

I LOVE my job - not particularly arsed about football

VanquishGirl · 25/10/2025 14:54

I absolutely love my job! I’m also in Tech consulting, supporting customers to deploy the software they buy. I’m incredibly passionate about it and love it so much it never really feels like work.

Waitaminutewheresmejumper · 25/10/2025 14:58

SENCO in an inner city primary school. Very hard work but completely worth it.

Mumptynumpty · 25/10/2025 15:05

I work in the NHS in a advanced specialist role supporting people to leave or prevent admissions to psychiatric wards. My specialism is the intersectionality of their mental health condition, the context of their crisis (eviction, alcohol/drug use, self injury, eating disorder etc) and my specialist knowledge of their diagnosis.

I really enjoy it. But I have just recently applied for a senior management role in another area of mental health - which I enjoyed previously.

ThisKindAmberLemur · 25/10/2025 15:14

I'm a teacher, secondary school, head of department. I work in an extremely deprived area and a lot of our kids are very vulnerable ... They're amazing, often a bit arsey, always curious (even if it's about the 'wrong' things), inspiring really. I feel privileged to be part of their growing up experience. Kids are also wildly funny if you go with the flow.

whatisforteamum · 25/10/2025 15:26

I'm one of the chefs in a private place like National trust.
