Hi I was out doing gardening yesterday and pulling out weeds ect. We recently just moved into our house and there was some long plants needing binned so as I’m binning these and the weeds I felt a burn/ sting on my hand and it looked circular.

i immediately ran into my house and washed my hands as this burn was stinging. I went back outside to look to see if I could see what caused this but nothing I could see apart from a small snail.

my skin has a layer missing in this wound and now left with fresh skin underneath sometimes wet and still burning sensation I feel a bit numb now on my thumb and it’s day 2.

i will pop to the chemist tomorrow as it’s Saturday and I’ll ask for some advice or pop to a&e.

does anyone know what this could be?

You don't need to 'pop' to A&E for this!!!

SlightlyHeartbroken · 25/10/2025 06:15

Euphorbia? The sap can burn skin.

Linenpickle · 25/10/2025 06:18

Why would you go to a&e???

LoudSnoringDog · 25/10/2025 06:23

Unless this sting has caused you a severe deterioration in your physical health, I doubt you need to bother the already pressed A&E dept with it.

UnimatrixZeroOne · 25/10/2025 07:43

"Pop to A&E"?!
I'm genuinely astounded.

Disney23 · 25/10/2025 07:45

It could be poisonous- get to A&E. Now!

BrinkWomanship · 25/10/2025 07:58

put some antihistamine cream on it for a couple of days and see if that works.

Lurkingandlearning · 25/10/2025 08:07

This is a long shot. Were you wearing gardening gloves? It looks exactly like the type of sore I sometimes get when a glove rubs on a knuckle. It does feel like burning and where the skin has chafed away is wet until a scab forms.

EleNW6 · 25/10/2025 08:11

This looks like a blister - that’s burst, from using shears or similar !

I agree it looks like this, I have one on my palm right now from digging over the lawn.

Do not pop to a&e and I don't think the snail bit you.

Don't you mean 'pop' to A&E? 😅

Catlover77 · 25/10/2025 09:17

What does ‘needing binned’ mean?

What does ‘needing binned’ mean?

Needs throwing away, for the bin, refuse, garden waste. Etc.

Ah, so it should have read needing to be binned.

Dick comment. Have you never heard of regional dialects?

Grammar is not regional

15minutesaday · 25/10/2025 09:57

Not sure what grammar has got to with the OP's question but there you go..

@Mykidsaremyworld123 - maybe speak to a pharmacist first. A&E seems a bit overkill at this stage.

@Catlover77 yes it is

@Mykidsaremyworld123 It looks like a blister

Mykidsaremyworld123 · 25/10/2025 11:36

lol at the snidey comments. Well when I was binning the weeds a drop landed on my hand. I don’t know what it was. You know like a rain drop but obviously this burned my skin. As soon as this drop landed on my skin it stung and was burning my top layer of skin so I immediately ran to wash my hands then used white vinegar and I took an antihistamine. Day 3 I still feel slight burning. I won’t pop to a&e don’t worry yourselfs lol I may pop along to the chemist though lol

Of course you don't go to a&e for a tiny bite/sore you got gardening.

Put hydrocortisone cream on it. Maybe go to a pharmacy.
