To think "smashing" is a thoroughly underused word these days?

My colleague (fabulous old boy, clearly had a whale of a time in the sixties) used it today and I thought, you just don't hear that enough!

Even better - "smasher", as in he/she's a smasher.

dp uses cracking alot, that's a cracking record, i blame stuart maconie.

smashing is sweet.

I would like to be called a little cracker, but I fear it is now unlikely to happen.

I use smashing alot and my fave is golly gosh

I was teased once for saying 'beastly'

how about 'rather !" ?

I heard a lovely lady on the radio today use a much loved word, but one I'd forgotten all about til she said it - ravishing

I use 'golly' rather a lot - as in "golly, that was lucky"

I felt that twit was rather under used personally

I do love smashing and rather - they make me smile

and I don't think YABU at all, btw

in fact, all my exclamations are rather 1950s.

I think it's something I unconsciously developed when I was trying to wean myself from saying "Fuck me! What a complete c**t that wanker is" in my mid-twenties.

Went overboard, as usual.

DS's friend (terribly, terribly but a super little boy) once said 'I shan't play with you any more. You are a dirty little creature' !!!!!

I use it all the time now - 'come here you dirty lttle creature!'
