To buy a qashqui?

Posting for traffic, and really hoping that I might be able to get some opinions. My last car, and Nissan Micra, has died, and I’ve made the decision not to replace her with another Micra. I am hoping to go slightly bigger, and have been looking at the qashqui. I wondered if anybody had any opinions about it, particularly in terms of space, reliability, and economy!

And also whether you have a diesel or a petrol.

I’d love some opinions, also does anybody have dogs and have a quashqui and therefore have a dog guard, I’ve done quite a lot of research, and I really fancy one, and tend to like Nissans as a whole.

I just find the whole process of car searching really overwhelming, and it feels like the website‘s always tell you all the good bits!

Thanks ☺️

I drove a hired Qashqai recently and absolutely loved it. If I was in the market for a big SUV type car I'd get one. Really comfortable, easy drive.

The garage would somehow fudge it through the MOT.
I wasn't happy driving around with the light always on so managed to part exchange it for my current car.

Of course. Dodgy as hell.

I liked mine overall. Loved the 360 camera, best I've ever had. But, car always felt under powered.

I've got a ten year old Qashqui, very scratched and currently covered in bird poo and acorns.

It's been very reliable but as a PP said the engine light stays on all the time.

The boot is a bit of a funny shape...I have a sloped dog cage that just about fits in but there's no space left for anything else.

I have a Qashqai and I rey love it. So far I've had no issues, although I've only had it 13 months (it's a 21 plate). I love being high up, like the 360 camera and find plenty of boot space for what I need. I have a petrol and get around 46mpg which I think is good? I don't seem to put much more fuel in it that my previous car (a 1.1 Suzuki Swift).
Mine is a 1.3 litre turbo and I find it really nippy!

Presumably it depends on what you want an SUV for?

I bought my first SUV when I had my baby as it was a so much easier getting the baby car seat in and out of a car that’s a bit roomier and higher up.

Now, I like the fact that I can get in and out of it much easier than a car that’s nearer the ground. 😊

I never recall having to lift a car seat into our cars. The car seat stayed there.

The other benefit of a saloon or estate is that not long after our DCs learned to walk they were happy climbing into their own car seats. No lifting of toddlers required so all we had to do was buckle their seat belts.

Thanks everyone, and no, not interested in an estate or a saloon, had both of those in the past, just not for me I’m afraid. Do agree that they are more spacious.

I had a very reliable old diesel Qashqai - did just over 100,000 miles - had from new and it was a warhorse - apart from usual servicing only had the odd tyre replaced - loved it and it was my favourite car out of the few I've driven.

Exchange it due to mileage to a brand new petrol one about a year ago - hate it - had nothing but problems with it

I have never had one so can't comment, but a family member had a newer 2022 one on lease and said it was a nightmare and full of electrical issues and couldn't wait to get rid. My uncle manages the service department for a Nissan dealership and says he wouldn't touch a newer Nissan with a barge pole. They are now owned by Renault apparently. I would really recommend having a look at the VW group or a Toyota if you want something really reliable. If you're wanting a larger SUV I'd be veering towards skoda Karoq/ Seat Ateca or a VW Tiguan? The 2.0 diesel engine is great. We have a 2017 Seat Leon diesel we've had since 2019 and it's never had any problems at all at nearly 100k miles. I've also had a Golf and 2 polos that gave minimal issues.

Our 2015 Juke Had Renault stamped all over the engine

VWs are not reliable these days. Mediocre at best. Toyota is where it’s at
