To have gone a bit "woo"?

First of all I am the most un religious and sceptical person ever. And I mean ever.

But lately, and I can't explain it at all, it's so weird but I have this overwhelming desire and thoughts about the universe, after life and spirituality. Obsessing over what the universe is trying to tell me, obsessing over getting a message or a sign from a loved one. I don't know how to describe it but it's like an overwhelming NEED to know that something is out there. It's come from absolutely no where!! Other than that he fact I've had thought time emotionally and mentally lately and maybe I'm just looking for some comfort?? It's become a bit of an obsession, spending hours researching spirituality, scrolling tik Tok for a message from the tarot readers, and even paying for online psychic readings and predictions, which might I add when inputted into chat gpt to analyze tells me they are just poetic and generalized in such a way to make me relate to them. Even though I'm trying to debunk my thoughts, I still have this unexplained hopeful urge if that makes sense. Desperate to hear a message or confirmation that a dead love one is there.

I think I'm posting here for someone to tell me that I'm being absolutely stupid and the universe is no way trying to send me messages and I am going a bit "woo". For reference I'm early thirties and in no way ever been a believer of any thing of any kind and Always been a black and white thinker.

Anyone else relate?? Or can give me some thoughts, insights?

It’s a beautiful time of the year, maybe go out, find a wooded walk and take in the fantastic colours of the trees at the moment. Maybe it will help empty your mind of the intrusive thoughts.

Best advice on the thread. By all means contemplate our place in the grand scheme of things, but please don't fall down a rabbit hole of gobbledegook and woo-woo bullshit or waste your time windowshopping religions. Just watch the last scene of Monty Python's 'The Meaning of Life' for the basics and then crack on.

NastyBeth strikes again!

What is nasty about the truth?

I suppose we shouldn't expect objective words of reason and clarity from someone called MysticGuru.

Don't be frightened

Don't be dim

Sparkletastic · 16/10/2025 12:34

It does sound very much like your unprocessed childhood grief meeting your OCD and landing on a theme. I agree with the advice to get out in nature, read some great books and spend time with friends.

unsurewhattodoaboutit · 16/10/2025 12:52

@MasterBethyou are calling people dim. It’s trolling. If anyone needs to step away from the internet it’s you.

ChikinLikin · 16/10/2025 12:57

Well I just played today's squaredle and the two longest words were clairvoyant and clairvoyance 😱. If that's not the universe agreeing with you, OP, I don't know what is?

Thingyfanding1 · 16/10/2025 13:17

You’re definitely not being stupid. It actually shows intellect that you are curious and want to know more. A lot of highly intelligent people have thought deeply about this kind of thing Albert Einstein, Carl Jung, Paul Davies, and Ken Wilber all explored how science and spirituality might connect - now that to me is fascinating.
Try not to spend money on tarot or psychics - nothing good that comes from this. I even feel, it’s potentially dangerous. Instead maybe look into some of those thinkers or books about the science spirituality link. It can help you see that what you’re feeling is actually part of becoming more aware and enlightened- it’s a wonderful thing.
Praying/reflecting quietly can be really powerful too.

Thingyfanding1 · 16/10/2025 13:19

Masterbeth is some kind of troll - do not engage. They never have anything decent to contribute and just come across as an incredibly narrow minded thinker.

Snowinsummer · 16/10/2025 13:24

In your position, I’d simply walk in nature, meet up with friends, nurture myself with wholesome home cooked food & join a yoga class. Is there a local choir you could join? I would seek spirituality from within.

I'm being called frightened. I'm not frightened, I'm concerned that people are coming on this thread peddling their nonsense.

Recommending reiki or "psyching smelling" is what I call trolling.

Honestly, most people's comments have actually been helpful and insightful. Whether they agree with my woo or not. Everyone has contributed their opinion which has been helpful to me. You don't agree. You thinks it's nonsense and that's fine. No need to go on about it.
