One of those menopause days...

Everything I'm wearing feels gross and my hair is somehow both greasy and dry as straw
Everything I've picked up has immediately broken or fallen.
I feel like a giant mess, my knees are creaky and I felt 150 years old when I had to kneel down to do my shoelace earlier.
I don't need solutions as I am already doing strength training, collagen etc etc blah blah

Just wanted solidarity!!!

I feel exactly the same today so solidarity!!!

it’s the worst.
My hair is also like straw. Everything is dry and itchy. Any get up and go I had has gone, and doesn’t seem to be coming back.

I also have strange irrational anxiety that is irritating and debilitating.

And breathe….

Floursacktabletop · 06/10/2025 17:03

God yes the anxiety! Also hot, cold, hot, cold. Off my food but feel inexplicably bloated

Ugh

Another day of masses of hair falling out, wondering if I'll be bald any time soon. Solidarity.

Aparecium · 06/10/2025 17:14

It’s a relief how everything seems to settle down to a new normal once the hormonal merry-go-round finally grinds to a halt. OK, it’s a dry, stiff, achey, insomniac normal, but you get used to it.

Oh hang on a sec. Nope, today’s a greasy day. Oh, I slept well last night, but I’ve sprouted a zit. Yesterday I was on fire; I booked our holiday, negotiated a new insurance package, and built an Ikea wardrobe. Today I dropped a teapot and forgot…what was it?

Whatwouldnanado · 06/10/2025 17:17

Menopace supplements. They do one with omega too. Yoga. Hydration. It will pass.

Solidarity! I started the day well, showered and getting on with things then hit by a hideous ocular migraine which seem to be coming more frequently with menopause. Had to lie down and fell asleep, now feeling gross, clammy, sweaty and groggy 😩 bloody menopause!

Summerhillsquare · 06/10/2025 19:29

all of the above, and I am 2 years post menopause. I'm starting to think that is does NOT pass. I have to work like this for 15 more years!

Floursacktabletop · 06/10/2025 19:59

Oh god please tell me it passes

Solidarity. I'm having a hot cold hot cold day. My level of 'being arsed' is very low today and I am grateful that I was WFH so I could take things at my own pace. Which was incredibly slow - like running through syrup. Hoping that I get a good night's sleep tonight and wake up with a bit more spring in my step. I am just taking my evening supplements now.

I’ve been through the depression, anxiety and sweats, My hair is so much thinner than it was.
At the moment I have two issues driving me mad. I am really struggling to sleep and I can’t seem to string a sentence together. I lose random words each time and the harder I try to find the words the further away they get.

Mummybook · 12/10/2025 14:08

I couldn't not relate more to this if I tried. I feel like my hair is soo thin now and everyday its getting worse but honestly the thing I cant cope with at the moment is the itchy skin. I feel insane. I am praying my new HRT helps.

I must drink more water - now it's not summer anymore I keep forgetting then wondering why I have another headache 🤷‍♀️

Arlanymor · 12/10/2025 18:39

Menopace makes me feel nauseous for some reason so instead I am taking eleventy hundred separate supplements instead. Today my eyeballs decided to get itchy and red for no apparent reason - so that’s a new fun symptom to deal with…
eye drops don’t seem to want to touch the sides. I wonder if wine might work instead?

I may well have been very lucky but I have loved my menopause. I read a lot about Japanese women many of whom have a symptom free menopause. I adapted my diet to try and match theirs. Used no hair dye and Indian Ayurvedic oil on my skin (I know, not Japanese but I find if protects my skin as I swim a lot). My hair and skin are in lovely condition. My joints are pain free, I feel happy and not anxious. My brain seems much sharper. I have never had a hot flush. Not trying to sound like Marj Menopause Mama but I do think it is worth looking at the chemicals you subject yourself to, your exercise and balance regime and your whole diet not just supplements or eating well only 70 percent of the time.

unsync · 12/10/2025 19:10

HRT was a revelation for me. God knows why I put it off for so long. Also, meditation. Sleep is still a bit of an issue though, so I'm going to start on magnesium again as it worked for me before.

mellongoose · 12/10/2025 19:34

I can relate to most of the above comments. Am currently leaving a job because I’ve been utterly overwhelmed by it for the last few months. Am looking for something new and hoping I will be better!
I live rurally so cannot get to a yoga class yet can’t seem to motivate myself to do it in front of the telly. Definitely need to drink more water. Sleep ok. Hair inexplicable but job situation (see above) means no non essential spending until new position is secured!!

I’m 49 in case that’s relevant. On the gel which is better than patches for me. In reality the last year has been hard. However, child (11) thrives, am still married and my unending optimism is still alive and well!

Whatwouldnanado · 12/10/2025 19:48

There are some good videos Adrienne etc. it is worthwhile taking time out for yourself to do it. I go in the spare room and watch on my phone.

So grateful for this post as also feel like I am menopausal even though still having periods at 51. Wasn't sure if the achy shoulders was flu related though. I live in abroad and would like to know at what point in the UK do they give HRT. After periods have ended for a year?

JacknDiane · 13/10/2025 12:15

I feel the same

My periods are still fairly regular but masked by the HRT. Occasionally bleed through but not normally. UPS and downs like PMT but not as bad IYSWIM. I’ve been on HRT for two and a half years.

Hope that is helpful @sunmonkey

sunmonkey · 14/10/2025 21:54

Yes it is, thankyou. I think I'm going back to the doctors. I remember a few years ago being told here (I live in The Netherlands) that I had to wait till my periods had stopped before being considered for HRT but was in my early 40s then. My doctor said when I asked a few weeks ago that it would be possible to get it if I thought I needed it. But I couldn't really give a solid reason why. They seem less willing to give it here for some reason.

swingingbytheseat · 14/10/2025 21:55

God me too
im not sure if I’ve got a fever or hot flashes it all feels the same.

Higglea · 14/10/2025 22:00

They give HRT over 45 here @sunmonkey based on symptoms alone. Under 45 is a bit more hoop jumping, but I got it easily enough at 44
