To not want seamonkeys in my living room?

DH had seamonkeys as a teen.
Recently he got a little set and grew them. Great.
But then his autism kicked in and they became his new fixation and now we have 4 of the small plastic tank sets and two 20 litre tanks in my living room complete with lights, air pumps etc.

Its not like having fish, you can't even see them!

They eat algae so the tanks look filthy and to top it off they are placed on my late grandmothers sidetable as there is genuinely no where else for them to go in here!

Im worried about the side table getting damaged and that is where I usually put my halloween bits and my nativity/decorations at Christmas.

Theres no other room they could go bar out bedroom and i think that would be even worse.

Obviously I can't ask him to pour them away but, omg, i hate them!!

My DC progressed from sea monkeys to ant farms. They lived in sand and they seemed to have no problem escaping the container.

Ffssssssssss

There's been a lot of weird threads on here recently so I kinda think this is a load of bull but then why lie about sea monkeys?

However, i still cant believe someone would be this invested in sea monkeys

I take it that you don't know anyone on the autistic spectrum, then. Autistic obsessions take many forms. Not all autistic men are train spotters, although many are. There are societies that embrace many unusual interests such as roundabout enthusiasts, TV test card enthusiasts, washing line enthusiasts, pylon enthusiasts and numerous others. Sea monkeys sounds like a typical autistic obsession to me.

I know this isn’t funny for you, OP but seriously! Sea monkeys!? They are literally fish food! We had loads as a kid, not from the actual sets but ones that my parents would breed to feed the fish. I can’t imagine having actual tanks to hold them, they’re ugly little things too!
Can you tell DH that one tank is more than enough? Or could you convince him to buy some freshwater fish instead, which are much nicer to look at and would eat your current problem. You’ve already got the set up for freshwater fish (did I read you had a filter?).
If he absolutely won’t be convinced to swap his obsession, he absolutely must understand that they can’t remain on the side table, and therefore must make space anywhere else for them.

moving them to a less beloved surface needs to happen. Add a bookshelf or something.
