Dip kiss at weddings

As far as I'm concerned this "dip kiss" signifies dominance to the wife to be submissive. I hate it and so do a lot of photographers

Wedding planner of 10 years here, yes there has been a rising trend in the dip kiss…. But I’ve yet to speak to a photographer who hates it, and I assure you any couple I’ve worked with, the woman is most definitely not the one being dominated.
Sounds like a you problem.

Hate is a very strong emotion for something so innocuous 🤣

Hilarious viewpoint, each to their own.

We did it at the end of our wedding dance which wasn't rehearsed and the dip was completely spontaneous as far as I'm aware. It was fun! My husband is a lot bigger/stronger than me so that was probably helpful. It's one of my favourite photos from the day and it captures how much fun we were having in the moment.

I like it because it reminds me of the time I was lovely and slim and DH could not only hold me in a dip kiss he also carried me over the threshold. I think his back may break if he tried that these days.

I take more of an issue with the bride being given away by their father but each to their own. Generally weddings are just for show rather than a true reflection of the relationship. I'm sure most couples who do the dip kiss are equal and most women who are given away aren't treated like the property of their father or husband.

What’s a dip kiss?

I was wondering that as well.

I’ve never heard of a dip kiss and thought it must be something to do with being tipsy and hanging around too long at the buffet table.

I don't know anyone who had this at their wedding. Don't do it if it bothers you ( or dip him if you want to make a point).

I went to a wedding where they tried to do this after the first dance. Something went wrong and the groom dropped her, the bride ended up on the floor. It was really awkward and embarrassing.

I don’t think my DH would know how to do this either. Well there’s no chance trying it now after 25 years and a bad back!

It’s just one of the naff wedding trends around, like the ‘first look’ and ‘mid aisle kiss’. All the same - yawn.
