DH comment on new neighbour

Alicelong · 02/10/2025 13:51

If your DH, unprompted, said your new neighbour looked like ‘absolute filth’, would you be a bit taken aback?

When I asked what he meant, he said in the ‘bedroom sense’.

This was the first time he saw her btw.

OP posts:
Gremlins101 · 02/10/2025 15:44

My husband thought our previous NDN was "an attractive woman" and I personally agreed with him. The same way I thought her husband was "a handsome man". This to me seems perfectly normal.

I would NOT consider it at all normal to imagine what that person is like on the bedroom. That's just nuts. It sounds like he forgot he was talking to you.

My first serious boyfriend described a woman we both new as "dangerous", meaning, I think, hard to resist. I absolutely hated that at the time.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 02/10/2025 15:59

He’s projecting. You can’t tell what someone’s going to be like in bed just by looking at them. What he’s saying is how he’d like her to be.

OriginalUsername2 · 02/10/2025 16:04

I’d be physically revolted.

He thought of her like that, then used that wording, then said it to you?!

HeartbrokenCatMum · 02/10/2025 16:08

JamieCannister · 02/10/2025 13:53

Depends whether I was married to a massive misogynist with a history of chasing other women. If I was then I wouldn't be taken aback at all.

This

Calliopespa · 02/10/2025 16:10

Can't decide what is more offensive: if he meant it as an insult or a compliment.

Just a big yick from me.

TheFoodLife · 02/10/2025 16:13

If My dh said that to me I’d think he was parodying a half wit.

MyLimeGuide · 02/10/2025 16:15

How awful. And you now have to see her all the time living so close knowing what ur delightful hubby is thinking. Had he been drinking? Have u been arguing or something? Because its a massive disrespect to you OP. Sorry x

Blue444 · 02/10/2025 16:25

Does he work for the Met?

Topseyt123 · 02/10/2025 16:31

It would never occur to my DH to say anything like that. Such comments would be an instant turn off.

Yours sounds like a misogynistic arse.

DaisyChain505 · 02/10/2025 16:33

It would depend if the new neighbour was a 60 year old lady wearing a leopard print tracksuit with bright pink hair and he was obviously being tongue in cheek or if it was a young attractive female who he obviously meant it about.

TubeScreamer · 02/10/2025 16:33

I’d feel repulsed

Endofyear · 02/10/2025 16:56

I can't imagine my DH making a comment like that about any woman, it's just not the way he talks at all! Is that normal for your partner, to talk about women like that?

PeonyPatch · 02/10/2025 18:38

What your husband said was completely unacceptable OP and it’s clear from posts on here that he’s massively overstepped a boundary. I hope you actually raise it with him and don’t continue to put up with this bs. He is not acting like a married man, he’s acting like a bachelor and a bit of a tit of one at that.

bumbaloo · 02/10/2025 19:53

He is thinking of having vigorous and porno style sex with her with such keenness that he couldn’t hold it in and told his wife

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/10/2025 20:21

OPs not returning to threads is getting really tiresome.

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/10/2025 20:21

.

whistlesandbells · 02/10/2025 20:28

Does he talk like that regularly or were you taken aback?

Bringitonicancope · 02/10/2025 22:02

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/10/2025 20:21

OPs not returning to threads is getting really tiresome.

Yes it frequently happens on the threads where the OP tells us of a disgustingly crude/ misogynistic/ inappropriate comment made by her partner or H .
Virtually every reply calls the guy all sorts and roundly condemns him and the OP never comes back.
Just like on this one.

Notascouser1990 · 05/10/2025 15:44

I would be absolutely furious and he'd be gone asap. Not only because its an abysmally misogynistic comment, but also because its a hugely disrespectful thing to say in front of your partner. What was he aiming for by saying that in front of you, his WIFE?! (Unless he has sub-zero intelligence) to hurt and make you jealous I'm imagining. Tit.

EDIT: I had a boyfriend for a short while who said stupid shit like that about other women (I was V young). I dumped him and he cheated on his next gf with various other women. Not saying this will happen to you but be careful.

whataweekImhaving · 05/10/2025 16:15

I’d be very taken aback by that.

out of interest, what does she look like? What is he basing his horrible assumption on?

Don't blame how she was dressed. Ffs

Ffs that wasn’t the point of the post, get off your high horse.

ClaredeBear · 05/10/2025 21:19

Holy F, that’s a terrible way to speak about someone, and that’s aside from him letting you know he fancies her. I find it difficult to believe this is the first time he’s ever spoken like this but perhaps he’s hidden his true personality well from you.

randomchap · 05/10/2025 22:43

Sorry, but no.

Comments suggesting that the target of a sexist comment is somehow to blame because of what they were wearing, even if meant as a "joke" are not acceptable.

I've read the post a few times and cannot see any humour, or other point, that she was making.

Victim blaming and jokes about it can fuck right off

Still on that horse, I see!

Notmyreality · 06/10/2025 11:54

Well I guess it depends on what she looks like. A stunning blonde with fake boobs in mini skirt and heels I would’nt be impressed but could see where’s he’s coming from. A Hyacinth Bucket look alike (sorry Patricia) and I’d be worrying what drugs he’s on…
