Reports that NATO are now in Ukraine

wehsit · 26/09/2025 21:26

I am seeing reports from Asian media in last 24 hours or so that NATO is in Ukraine, in Odessa. Is this right, or are they on the border?

This is apparently to do with important elections in Moldova on Sunday which are linked to whether Moldova has its future in the EU or with closer ties to Russia. The president of Moldova is keen on the EU; there have been protests which indicate that there is support in the electorate for closer ties with Russia and some reports are saying it is a close race; there have apparently been nearly 300 arrests of people who are suspected to be organising protests who are pro Russian; the EU is saying "we mustn't let Moldova be lost". In some respects it is looking a bit like the Maiden Revolution in 2014 in Ukraine following which there was a change of government to one which was pro-EU and a trade agreement signed between Ukraine and the EU.

Why is NATO there, in what is essentially a war zone, after we had been told that it wouldn't be? Or is NATO on the border and not in Ukraine?

In relation to Moldova it is currently neutral, not a part of NATO (according to google), no other country is threatening them (afaik), they are not currently a part of the EU, so are the reports that NATO are there false?

Or is NATO there but temporarily and just as some sort of gesture?

Will NATO being in the area significantly increase the risk of direct clashes with Russia? What is the situation vis a vis Transnistria?

The trade agreement signed between Ukraine and the EU in 2014 had been being negotiated since around 2008, there had been a lot of funding given to Ukraine by the EU and the US in the intervening period - is it the same situation with Moldova? Ie has a draft agreement been negotiated?

Yes, in the absence of absolutely any evidence to the contrary.

You going to prove us wrong? Or are we expected to just take your word for it that you saw something somewhere but can't quite remember where and have suddenly lost the ability to search your device's history?

Actually, the truth is that unless you give me a good reason for why you want to see the actual video, as opposed to the many others which you can find after a quick google search, the time it would take me to go through pages of history on my device, waiting for pages to unfreeze, and all that, is not justifiable. If you actually do have a good reason to see it, let me know what your reason is by PM and I might look for it. Other than that, I will leave it there.

I think most people reading this can understand that it was my question which was relevant and that should have been taken at face value, judging by the number of "thumbs up".

I can't find any videos about this, despite trying.

I can find a couple of news reports reporting "unsubstantiated" Kremlin allegations that NATO are planning to invade Moldova.

A deployment of NATO troops would require unanimous approval of all member states - which is extremely unlikely to happen - and its unfathomable that this would have already happened and not been reported on.

Basically, it seems to be a plain and obvious Kremlin lie, for the purpose of influencing Moldova's elections. The scarcity of reporting suggests that nobody is taking it remotely seriously.

certain countries have an interest in unsettling voters in western democracies

I think you and all those who have "challenged" me (as you say) misunderstand what is going on.

When you call people "bots" you are mostly referring to people who think that these conflicts are about money and power groups in the west vs normal people/freedom everywhere, and the reasons behind their thinking lie in collective knowledge from the west which goes back over 100 years, nothing to do with information from outside. There is tacit approval of the conflicts in certain social groups and many people aspire to be part of power groups thinking it will bring them untold riches. There is sophisticated marketing involved for others, which makes them think they are fighting on the "right" side when in fact they are fighting for the interests of money and power groups.

People who question these things in the west generally do so because they care about people, people everywhere, and are fed up of excessive monopolies going against most people's interests, not because they are against democracies (for goodness sake) or because they are "bots", and not because they are so cognitively challenged they will blindly follow one narrative or another without question.

I hope that makes sense. Sorry if not. I am out now, good luck to you all.

A good reason? Why don't you give us a good reason to believe your claims?

I would recommend that you never try and take up a career in law. "He's guilty, your honour, the defence counsel should Google why..."

What search terms did you use? I tried "NATO Ukraine Moldova" and just got a load of "Russia claims...". Likewise "NATO troops Ukraine" came up with an India Today headline that ends in "...says Russia". Not a single article that gave the impression that the news outlet believed the claims. In the absence of any objective primary sources then it's clearly Russian propaganda.

See my post above to you. You obviously don't know anything about law, so why mention it?

I searched "nato in odessa", and then once that came up i clicked on "videos". A lot came up. I have now gone through this several times.

My post to you above was genuine, so hopefully you will take the time and trouble to read it.

I haven't called anyone a "bot". "Bot" is short for "robot" and these generally just copy and paste sentences all over the shop.

You could be one of two things. One possiblity is that you are deliberately doing Russia's bidding. The other is that you are so gullible that you would take seriously any claim you read online without the slightest bit of critical thinking applied. Anything that has "Russia says" in the headline should be taken with more salt than Donald Trump's arteries.

I don't know anything about law? Really? I certainly know how to check and present evidence when making a claim.

Okay well after this i am definitely hiding the thread so please don't reply to this I won't see it. You really have no idea at all what you are talking about. Try reading what I wrote again.

wehsit can't be a bot because a bot would do a much better job. Only a human could make a post with the title 'Reports that NATO are now in Ukraine' but be completely unable to provide a single link, not even to obvious propaganda, supporting the title of the post.

You've come here, only ever posted on one thread to make unsubstantiated claims that align with the interests of Russia, and now you are off once the Moldovan elections are over. I think it is clear what this was all about.

Precisely. But apparently the OP got a 'like' or two...

I came back to check one of my posts had been deleted as I had requested.

claims that align with the interests of Russia do you think that any questions or criticism about the EU or NATO or the US or any backers are automatically "claims which align with the interests of Russia"? Just wondering, because I thought that one of the precepts of being in a democracy was that we were allowed to question and criticise our leaders.

I left the thread because no one was wanting to discuss my opening post or answer my questions, and because one of the posters seemed to be a bit blood thirsty, and because the election seemed to go ahead without the need for NATO to intervene, as in no violence. I would still question why they were there in the first place, if they were there (has that been clarified yet?). My concern is that the behaviour of the EU and NATO might push us into ww3.

The opposition in Moldova has said that the election breached a number of protocols, and that situation is worthy of discussion, but that wasn't what this thread was about, so if anyone wanted to discuss that they'd need to start a new thread.

You've posted fantasy drivel and refused to even try and substantiate it. Of course people arent engaging with you, because there's nothing to engage with.
