Reports that NATO are now in Ukraine

wehsit · 26/09/2025 21:26

I am seeing reports from Asian media in last 24 hours or so that NATO is in Ukraine, in Odessa. Is this right, or are they on the border?

This is apparently to do with important elections in Moldova on Sunday which are linked to whether Moldova has its future in the EU or with closer ties to Russia. The president of Moldova is keen on the EU; there have been protests which indicate that there is support in the electorate for closer ties with Russia and some reports are saying it is a close race; there have apparently been nearly 300 arrests of people who are suspected to be organising protests who are pro Russian; the EU is saying "we mustn't let Moldova be lost". In some respects it is looking a bit like the Maiden Revolution in 2014 in Ukraine following which there was a change of government to one which was pro-EU and a trade agreement signed between Ukraine and the EU.

Why is NATO there, in what is essentially a war zone, after we had been told that it wouldn't be? Or is NATO on the border and not in Ukraine?

In relation to Moldova it is currently neutral, not a part of NATO (according to google), no other country is threatening them (afaik), they are not currently a part of the EU, so are the reports that NATO are there false?

Or is NATO there but temporarily and just as some sort of gesture?

Will NATO being in the area significantly increase the risk of direct clashes with Russia? What is the situation vis a vis Transnistria?

The trade agreement signed between Ukraine and the EU in 2014 had been being negotiated since around 2008, there had been a lot of funding given to Ukraine by the EU and the US in the intervening period - is it the same situation with Moldova? Ie has a draft agreement been negotiated?

Be aware that during wartime historically (and yes, there are very good sources for this) mainstream press became extremely biased and sometimes spread false information

There was also William Joyce.

William Joyce is nothing to do with the point I was making. MPs and establishment people spoke out against incorrect information being given to the public during war time and none were hung for it.

Rather cheeky considering you can’t evidence your own claims.

I didn't make a claim though. I said "I have seen this on asian media - is this right?"

William Joyce has everything to do with the point I am making. He spread enemy propaganda.

Now, you made a claim that you had seen allegations in the Asian press that there are NATO troops in Ukraine, and that it had something to do with the elections in Moldova. Are you going to back up your claim, or in the absence of evidence shall we all agree that it must be bollocks? You made the claim, it is your responsibility to prove it. Only once you have done so must the defending side counter it.

And yet you won't share your source. How are we to evaluate it if we cannot see the evidence?

You are just trying to pick a fight. I said I hadn't saved the links. I said that the link wasn't relevant as it was all over asian media and you could take your pick and the point was - did anyone know if it was true. So why are you trying to pick a fight?!

Ah I see, I read this after posting - you are saying that me saying that asian media was saying that nato was in odessa is me spreading propaganda?

I told you to google "nato in odessa" and click on videos and that you would then find (or this was the case yesterday) a lot of videos talking about nato being in odessa.

Do you think that this was me spreading propaganda? Is that what you are saying? And you are comparing me to Joyce? What is the link? Joyce spoke to the Uk through the 2nd ww from Germany (I think he was a German citizen but of Irish heritage - he had lived in Germany since he was 17 but had come ot the UK to be part of a nazi group in the UK or Ireland or somesuch?) and according to the government he gave information to discourage the UK and to encourage Germany through the war. Are you saying that me posting this is me doing the same thing? Because I really don't see the link.

I was questioning why NATO would be involved in the Moldova election, and I was questioning why they would be in odessa (if they were) if Russia had said they would see it as a provocation.

So nothing similar to Joyce whatsoever.

If I found the link and posted it, would you still say I was spreading propaganda?
And if so, what is the point of me finding the link? It is clear that asian and other media were reporting it. So you are saying their info is propaganda? And me questioning it is me spreading propaganda?

I think you and your group are getting very mixed up about what is going on.

I will respond a couple more times but feel this thread is going nowhere (I am getting a lot of thumbs up but they aren't posting) so will soon give up on it.

This is endlessly ridiculous. It's not all over "Asian media", which is perhaps why you can't provide any links. Stop typing and start thinking.

I challenge you to do as I suggested. You will then see more than one video.

I didn't say "all over" asian media. As for "stop typing and start thinking" well, I rather think you should take your own advice and would add in "start reading and stop making things up to cause trouble" too.

If you won't share a source (if it's so easy to find then you can find it for us, I tried Googling and everything that came up was "Russia claims...", you ought to have an idea of what keywords might bring it up) then we'll have to assume that it is cobblers.

I did read your opening post. Still waiting for you to provide any evidence of reporting in "the Asian media" (from which part of Asia? China? India? Vladivostok?).

You are the one who is making shit up. Prove us wrong.

When you make a claim, it is for you to prove that it is true. Only after you have done should we be challenged to prove it false.

But why? Why is the source so relevant for you? Why?

It looked like the writing was sanskrit (not sure how that is spelt) or similar. It wasn't cyrillic. But beyond that I don't know where it was from, I didn't look.
If you can explain why it is so important, I might try to have a look. At the moment it just sounds as though you are wanting to have a pop. If you have a genuine reason, and share it here or by PM, I will have a look for you.

Can you justify your claims that Joyce is at all relevant to this thread? That was a bit off, that suggestion, wasn't it?

I literally just put in what I suggested and a lot of videos came up some of which being as i described with writing looking like sanskrit. So have another look, scroll down.

You have made claims that you have seen media reports about NATO forces in Ukraine. You seem extremely reluctant to back them up. Funny that, given that certain countries have an interest in unsettling voters in western democracies. We see you.

Yes, in the absence of absolutely any evidence to the contrary.

You going to prove us wrong? Or are we expected to just take your word for it that you saw something somewhere but can't quite remember where and have suddenly lost the ability to search your device's history?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 29/09/2025 20:42

wehsit · 28/09/2025 16:01

If nato is there, why are they there, what else is going on?

(Just to repeat with bold for those who are struggling to understand this:

If nato is there, why are they there, what else is going on?)

If they were/are, it would probably be so that Russia doesn't march in there to 'liberate the people' from having voted for closer European ties. After all, Russia do have recent form for these sorts of shenanigans.

And if they're not, it's probably useful for Russia to claim they're in there so they can march in to 'liberate the people' from EU support.

ThatDreamyLemonBiscuit · 29/09/2025 20:45

This doesn't appear to be either true or remotely plausible, so I wouldn't worry about it, OP.
