To want to put Xmas tree up on November 1st?

I am due a baby on 12th November, however getting a planned section about a week before this (anytime from 5th November onwards). I also have a very busy 2 year old. Due to having a section planned I’ll be resting quite a bit after this as well as looking after my newborn 24/7. I can’t imagine untangling Christmas lights and putting up the decorations once baby arrives.

I told DH I want to put the Xmas tree to November 1st so we don’t need to worry about doing this once baby is here. Is this too early??

Why would he be “exhausted”? You’re really overthinking this, you’ll be on maternity leave and can just take your time with it all

Well I don’t know if we did parenthood wrong but both DH and I were exhausted when we had a newborn and a toddler!

My daughter was born 16/11 and had a two year old and a four year old at the time. It never occurred to me to put the tree up early! I think ours went up mid december that year as usual, but it was absolutely fine. DH did the "getting it all out of the loft" bit and I just put some baubles on. You're overthinking it I think, which is totally understandable, but I doubt you'll be "flat out" to be honest - neither of your kids is at school (busy time of year for that) and you'll be on mat leave, you have loads of time to do decorations.

Fair enough

Will your toddler not just pull at the tree? How will you manage to distract the wee one while youre in a bit of discomfort or bf the new baby? Would it not be safer to wait until youre healed and fit to dash around after small children again. Plus it’s a looonnnngggg time to wait for Santa from 1 November to 25 December…

DH can do it but not in November.

Yes, at least wait until Guy Fawkes night is out the way!

Definitely do this, you won't regret it! Our Christmas decorations have been going up on November 1st for years, it's our tradition and we're known for it. Friends and family love to come round in November and see our house fully decorated.
I am utterly obsessed with Christmas and am definitely in festive mode from November 1st onwards anyway so I recognise that this behaviour is probably a bit odd, but we love the decorations so much that it's a shame to restrict them to December, especially since they take so long to put up and bring such joy!
We did a stripped down Christmas display last year as I was due to have a c-section in early January and we didn't want to be having to think about taking everything down around my delivery date. This will be our beautiful baby's first Christmas so we're keen to make it special, though probably more for our sake than hers if I'm Honest! However, we will have to get creative with our holiday displays this year as our little one is crawling and is on the verge of walking, so I don't think any floor-based trees or ornaments will be safe come November. Luckily, we have lots of decorations and lots of options so it will all be good!
Please enjoy giving yourself and your family some early Christmas cheer, it'll be so lovely to be cudling your new baby in the glow of fairy lights too! Wishing you all the very best for your new arrival and a very happy, slightly early, Christmas!
