Is anyone feeling really cold now after the warm spring & summer we've had?

Just that - weather's been awful here for the last week or so and I've been thinking I'm suddenly feeling really cold! I don't normally feel this cold in the evenings before October and then I put the heating on 😅 Anyone feeling the same??

I quite like these temperatures around 16-20 degrees. It is lovely to be able to take the dogs out without thinking about whether it’s too hot for them and I am enjoying running/exercising again. Running/exercising in hot weather is hard.

Coco Jones Wow GIF

Its not cold enough

Lemonsugarpancake · 13/09/2025 21:00

I was too hot out and about today in a thin rain jacket, but definitely chilly this evening. Thinking of digging out my heated blanket, which has the bonus of attracting the cats!

cardibach · 13/09/2025 21:08

My mood has nose dived worryingly early. The cold weather makes me (properly) depressed. It’s not the dark, I don’t mind that as much, it’s the temperature. I can’t stand it and it’s worse every year. Even if I keep my house comfortable the fact it’s artificial heat (and not as warm as hot weather because I’m not made of money) I feel low and horrible. I can’t motivate myself to leave the house even to do fun things because it’s cold out there and I have to put on loads of uncomfortable layers and socks and shoes which I loathe. It’s such a performance and I’m miserable out there after. My life is basically shit for a good 6 months.

LittleGreenDuck · 13/09/2025 21:19

Freezing. The heating switched itself on last night. Roll on spring.

HeyThereDelila · 13/09/2025 21:23

Get a grip, it’s about 17 degrees - far warmer than it should be for this time of year.

narcASD · 13/09/2025 21:25

I’m in the SE and still feel hot and sweaty (although also perimenopausal), I’m looking forward to actually feeling cold as it’s been hot since May and I’ve had enough of it now.

That’s nice for you. It’s too cold for me. I had to out my oodie on and my nose was still cold and I’m really depressed about it all, but I’ll just get a grip shall I?

Edit: just googled to check. 17 is bang 8n average for September in Wales.

LadyLindaT · 13/09/2025 21:27

It seems to have started getting so dark, so quickly!

deeahgwitch · 13/09/2025 21:28

It was 15 degrees in Dublin today - it said on the Apple Weather app but added “feels like 8 degrees”
And it did. 😮

LavenderBlue19 · 13/09/2025 21:28

Yes! I'm in my dressing gown and I actually took my temperature a few days ago as I felt shivery... was completely normal, I was just cold.

I keep checking the thermostat as it feels so cold indoors, yet it's always 19/20 - perfectly normal house temperature and a long way off the heating coming on.

PremiumMode · 13/09/2025 21:31

My electric blanket is now on for the first time since early April!

wineandsunshine · 13/09/2025 21:31

I’ve got my slippers on and a sofa blanket…no heating yet but it won’t be long! Bloody love the Autimn and being cosy!

Tcateh · 13/09/2025 21:33

Caved and popped the heating on yesterday evening and today at about 6 till 8.
Depends on your home doesn't it.
I'm eot and it may have said 19 but it felt cold and damp because of the rain.
Went up to 21. Lovely.

YetanotherNC25 · 13/09/2025 21:38

Not happy about this. I’m having to swap my sliders around the house for my fluffy slipper boots. Can’t bear my feet cold. Wore a jumper today. Thermostat says 22 degrees? It’s lying or broken. I’ll be putting on the electric blanket when I change the sheets tomorrow.
It’s far too early for all of this.

ShesTheAlbatross · 13/09/2025 21:48

I put on my fluffy bed socks last night.

Peteryourhorseisheree · 13/09/2025 21:52

We are renovating.

The entire downstairs of my house has been stripped back to brick, two massive fireplaces exposed and the chimneys open, a flat roof extension was replaced last week so no insulation on the new roof yet, French doors have been ripped out and are boarded up for now, and all the floors are bare boards.

Please think of me, I’m cooold 😭😭

IndigoBluey · 13/09/2025 21:54

It’s been 18 odd in Scotland so no I don’t think it has turned cold but it will this week

Thissickbeat · 13/09/2025 21:55

Yes!
I've got my heating on 22° as it's been so rainy and chilly the last week. A proper shock to the system.

PruthePrune · 13/09/2025 21:55

Yup. Ive been wearing my Oodie for the past 2 days.

Fucking baltic and my washing is taking 5 business days to dry 😡

I spent most of this morning researching dehumidifiers then spent £105 on one which is coming on Monday. I'm hoping that helps with the washing issue but also making it feel slightly warmer without heating for at least another few weeks.

We rely on our dehumidifiers in spring and autumn, laundry wouldn't dry nicely without them but also it makes the house more comfortable. I also have a spare for moving around the upstairs rooms, and a 3rd for the downstairs rooms.

Thissickbeat · 13/09/2025 21:58

cardi, same.
And the bloody county council have turned down all the street lights to save money. So I don't want to go out at all after dark in autumn and winter now.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 13/09/2025 22:04

I can really relate @cardibach, I really struggled last winter and with the nights drawing in and the weather turning, I can feel my mood dipping.

I'm trying to get out and walk as much as I can and going to the gym 4 times a week as well. It’s hard though, it feels too early in the season to be feeling this way😢

We have a warm holiday planned for Feb which always helps but it’s a long time until then and I need to find some coping strategies.

RoseAlone · 13/09/2025 22:05

Loving it. Roll on proper winter.

Newmeagain · 13/09/2025 22:10

Yes - I am in London and while it’s not freezing there has been a definite change - quite chilly in the morning and evening. My body doesn’t like changes in temperature - I keep sneezing and have been feeling cold.
