HUMMUS recall toddler diarreah

Applecrumble0110 · 13/09/2025 19:07

Hi I'm so sorry for posting this in AIBU but I'm hoping more people will see. Just seen an article about a specific hummus from Sainsbury's being recalled for containing e coli bacteria. My DD (2.5) ate it Thursday evening and has quite severe diarreah at the moment. Really panicking, any tips? She's never had a poorly tummy before

Isn’t hummus the thing in the soil?

Hi so yes she has pretty severe diarreah, has cried about stomach ache all day. No vomiting right now and yes she had the exact batch that has been recalled. The large classic hummus with a sell by date of 15/09

And you go online to mumsnet rather than call your GP

It will have been seen as a personal attack i assume someone reported it, i just asked what was wrong with you because you corrected spelling of a distressed poster, it wasn't offensive but probably could be seen as a personal attack! Mumsnet decision they are entitled to remove anything.

And you go online to a thread from a stressed out parent and berate?....
@Applecrumble0110 posted after 7pm on a weekend, last time i needed 111 at similar time I was on hold for 2 hours.... and was also on mn asking advice at same time, which was excellent as lovely, calming posters advised me to not bother holding on as all 111 would do would say go to ED.
thankfully did as ended up being treated for sepsis, which for a baby who can't say what's going on was terrifying how quickly dc deteriorated.
Sorry for de-rail apple!

Is calling out spelling when a mum was worried about her child necessary?

What Gp is open on a Saturday night?

It was a Saturday night do you have contact details for a special gp for me? I'd really appreciate it :) I was planning on calling 111 but made the thread to see if anyone else was in a similar situation/ had eaten any of the products recalled as there were more than just the hummus. Mumsnet is a great place for people in a bad mood cos they can come be rude to strangers for no reason hahaha! It makes me laugh really

not this morning

Applecrumble0110 · 14/09/2025 10:30

@SallySuperTrooper you're right!! I waited absolutely ages and even when I got through they weren't really fussed and said it sounds mild as she doesn't have other symptoms (vomiting, shallow breathing, limp etc). Even the medic we saw out of hours said the same and that she might be strong enough to flush it out which thankfully she was :)
