And could I find my phone?! Obviously not!

OP posts:
ApolloandDaphne · 07/09/2025 15:22

I am in a hushed art gallery. The phones all going off fairly reverberated through the hallowed halls!

My phone didn’t go off. Would have forgotten all about it, except everyone else’s did, lol. Should I worry mine didn’t go off?

I can’t remember the exact details but I’m sure there is a way too turn it off/on in your phone’s settings so yours might be set to off

Weird. Mine went off, DHs didn't

exact same here too! We’re both on EE, both have huawei, his newer than mine ( Psmart vs my P10), both on silent. He had the pop up just no sound. Neither of our watches alerted tho.

Zanatdy · 07/09/2025 15:25

I set an alarm for 14.57 to remind me so I was ready and waiting!

SP2024 · 07/09/2025 15:26

I’m on holiday. None of our devices alerted, I assume because we are out of the country. Do visitors phone ping in the UK or just resident’s?

Idstillratherbepaddleboarding · 07/09/2025 15:26

Oh also it shows the difference between how DH and I would act in an emergency!

DH: looks up from his computer, swipes his phone and carries on working.

Me: having just witnessed DH doing this 2 mins before and seen the Sky news warning pop up on my phone, “Ahhh, OMG what do I do? Ooh it’s on my watch too! Help!” Mad buzzing and alarming keeps going off while I jab madly at my phone. Eventually it stops, not sure how, and I go on MN to see what everyone made of it 😂.

pigsDOfly · 07/09/2025 15:27

I'd completely forgotten about it.

It didn't go off until about 3.15 and made a sort of whirring noise when it started. I thought there was something wrong with it at first.

EasternStandard · 07/09/2025 15:27

We were at a party. I knew about the test. Not sure what we’d do if it was real it was noisy chaos anyway.

DiscoBob · 07/09/2025 15:27

No alarms went off for anyone in my house?! Only a text box on the screen.

Anyone else get that?

ErrolTheDinosaur · 07/09/2025 15:28

Givealittlebit · 07/09/2025 15:15

Can confirm it goes off bloody loudly over your car speakers. Ideal when you’ve been driving and just got the toddler to sleep 😂 thankfully I hit my phone fast enough that it only beeped once.

message disappeared quick here too but pull down from the top (on an iPhone) and I could read the full thing there.

we had it go off in 2022 when we were in Florida and there was a hurricane warning. Was v surreal hearing everyone’s phones go in Disneyland 😂

Ah right… my iPhone I seem to have to pull from the bottom to see the notification.

ProfoundlyPeculiarAndWeird · 07/09/2025 15:29

Didn't flipping notice my alert until 25 mins late. I guess that means I'm technically dead now and have to sit out the next round.

Good luck to all of you who made it through to the next round.

EchoedSilence · 07/09/2025 15:29

Took me a while to remember what it was. I thought it was DH messing about with his shed alarm.

It’s people who are in the country at the time. Residents or otherwise.

GellerYeller · 07/09/2025 15:03

Multiple devices going off here. Wonder what happens if your phone is connected in the car?

If it’s connected to the car the sound comes up through the car system and the message pops up on the screen

TroysMammy · 07/09/2025 15:32

Saddo that I am I set my alarm for 14.59 so I could sit and look at my phone.

JennyWrenSeven · 07/09/2025 15:33

AutieAdult · 07/09/2025 15:11

Got it. The alert thing didn’t stay on long and isn’t a text so I didn’t have time to read the message. Not much good unless you can easily find out what it is for including in a place with bad phone or 4G or WiFi to look it up. Maybe it is a notification but I’m not sure how to access them.

On an iPhone you pull down from the top to read past notifications.
This is the message…

Well that just made me jump a mile!

Not just residents. It’s done by location.

Me too! Nearly threw it across the room 😂

Bit dramatic

Daisy617 · 07/09/2025 15:35

We had 4 phones on in our house and none of them received any message or made any noise. We definitely haven’t disabled anything so no idea why it didn’t work.

Yes, mine didn’t go off, just text box. DH’s didn’t go off either.

ETA my DH has just informed me that my phone did go off. I was upstairs at the time and didn’t hear it. I’d actually forgotten about it until I saw this thread.

LexiFeatherston · 07/09/2025 15:38

I was driving and my phone and my two passengers ones went off. At the same time, the two drivers in front both slammed their brakes on - they must have been scared shitless by their alarms. Luckily I did not run into the back of them.

PeapodBurgundy · 07/09/2025 15:38

Mine went off this time, it didn't last time. Must look into the settings to see if I can stop it.

Galatine · 07/09/2025 15:40

What a load of wimps you are! Ten seconds of a low key warble and that was it. nothing to make anyone jump out of the skin. even Lady Galatine who is easily startled hardly reacted

Hmm. Weird. My phone is about 1.5 yrs old and a bit shite. It's android. Oh well! I didn't hear it going off in general. I thought I'd hear it from other people in the street at least. If everyone is phone went off at the same time I assumed it would be loud.
