And could I find my phone?! Obviously not!

DD is on her way back from a school trip. I wonder if the whole coach full of ternager’s phones went off at once?

Rowgtfc72 · 07/09/2025 15:09

Dd came downstairs to say hers hadn't gone off at 3.02. As it went off. We're with Tesco. They were late.

Sodastreamin · 07/09/2025 15:09

I knew someone would start a thread about it! Haha
Honestly, the amount of drama surrounding a short noise on one occasion in order to make sure an alert service works correctly before it’s ever required (hopefully never) in the event of flooding/wildfires etc, is truly baffling.
Yes they should’ve done this years ago like the US etc but they didn’t. Then we had lots of flooding & some wildfires - one not far from me that I think is still ongoing right now, spreading across moors so bad that the London Fire Brigade had to travel up - and so they’ve now decided they need a more direct alert system so they’re testing it 🤷🏼‍♀️ What on earth is the big deal?!?

FuzzyWolf · 07/09/2025 15:09

Mine was quite quiet compared to what I was expecting. All the phones in the house went off at a different time.

Fionasapples · 07/09/2025 15:09

Me too, even though I knew it was going to happen!

BurntBroccoli · 07/09/2025 15:10

Nothing here!

1000YearsRumination · 07/09/2025 15:06

My fault for not checking the news, I was holding my phone in my hand and almost chucked it across the room 😂

😆😆😆

ErrolTheDinosaur · 07/09/2025 15:10

Mine was a bit after 3:00 I think, and DHs maybe half a minute later.
The message that appeared on my Lock Screen disappeared again before I’d half read it (and I already had my reading glasses on). Does it stay on till you dismiss it if there’s a real alert?Confused

ResusciAnnie · 07/09/2025 15:10

I didn't have one before. Wasn't particularly alarming which is good. Did the job but not OTT.

AutieAdult · 07/09/2025 15:11

Got it. The alert thing didn’t stay on long and isn’t a text so I didn’t have time to read the message. Not much good unless you can easily find out what it is for including in a place with bad phone or 4G or WiFi to look it up. Maybe it is a notification but I’m not sure how to access them.

SquirrelosaurusSoShiny · 07/09/2025 15:11

My work phone went off as well as my personal phone but I was ready for them!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 07/09/2025 15:11

Mine was a minute late!

Ilovesshopping · 07/09/2025 15:12

I panicked. I’d be shit in a real emergency .

I was ready to bundle myself and the cat in the car and go- though no idea where I’d go.

Pemba · 07/09/2025 15:13

I didn't get any text? there was the alarm for a few seconds, then a voice reading out the government's message to explain what it was.

And then trying to deny that they had their phones on! 🤣

Mine went off twice!

Idstillratherbepaddleboarding · 07/09/2025 15:03

It was quite dramatic wasn’t it? DH got his bang on 3:00 but I don’t get mine until 3:02 just when I was getting offended they forgot me 😂.

Me to!, DH thought it was quite funny, obviously he is more important than me, natural selection, as by the time I'd got the message there'd be no room at the in !

Multiple devices going off here. Wonder what happens if your phone is connected in the car?

Can confirm it goes off bloody loudly over your car speakers. Ideal when you’ve been driving and just got the toddler to sleep 😂 thankfully I hit my phone fast enough that it only beeped once.

message disappeared quick here too but pull down from the top (on an iPhone) and I could read the full thing there.

we had it go off in 2022 when we were in Florida and there was a hurricane warning. Was v surreal hearing everyone’s phones go in Disneyland 😂

Disgruntled cats and dog here too.

Headabovetheparapets · 07/09/2025 15:16

🤣🤣yep watch & 2 phones went off, I split my coffee & the dogs started howling🤣🤣🤣

I don’t see any drama either. Anyway it provided a few seconds of entertainment in an otherwise dull, rainy Sunday 😂🙈.

Bearinthesmallmessyflat · 07/09/2025 15:18

I had just got my toddler down for a nap, I’ve never reacted so fast to phone notification in my life

I do agree it didn’t seem as loud as the last couple of times but that might just be because I got it off so quick this time

Purplecatshopaholic · 07/09/2025 15:19

My phone didn’t go off. Would have forgotten all about it, except everyone else’s did, lol. Should I worry mine didn’t go off?

No one in this thread is making a big deal out of it. We are simply commenting. It’s like if it happened when you were sat on the train you might pass comment with the person next to you.

if you want to read people making a big deal out of it then read this thread. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/5405220-to-think-theres-something-a-bit-sinister-about-the-government-emergency-alert-test-on-7th-september?page=1
