Instagram posters etc actively rejoicing in getting in the kids back to school, jokes about chucking them through the door and so on
I get it, it’s hard with kids off, you have no peace and so on, but these posts just make me feel uncomfortable and the videos just aren’t that funny

I know what you mean re not getting older. My DSS is mentally around 2 but an actually 17. You realise what “not growing up” actually looks like. I know it might not be that deep, but i secretly celebrate and feel relieved at every little milestone for my children.

I get it, it's so hard when you don't get to enjoy each stage or milestone because you're fearing it could be their last, or it's taken so long to get to it, or it's a reminder that they aren't having a 'normal' experience of life. Ageing is a privilege.

Don't go on social media? Block all friends who post? Why does someone's joke along these line make you feel uncomfortable- hope you're not ringing SS for every one of them. Scroll past and forget.

I'm surprised by how many parents stay at home and therefore the new term represents a break rather than a different sort of hectic.

I don’t know- I sometimes feel like parents on social media can’t win. If they brag about their kids or how much they’ll miss them/love being a mum they get slated. And they get slated for the opposite.

Because both types are attention seeking.

Take a social media break, do other stuff that brings you joy.

But you can't control what other people do, only what you do. The attention they may be seeking is yours to give or to withhold.
