Buying house - homeless outside

Hi,

I'm buying a house, and opposite the garden is the community car park. Area is lovely, people are lovely. However, I've noticed thpere has been a van parked right outside the garden (obviously in a parking space), and has been there for weeks. I thought nothing of it, then saw they they open the door and it looks like people live in it! And they look homeless, I saw they legs popping out of the van.

The house has now been emptied, and I'm worried that the homeless people are going into the garden to get water from the tap outside.

My partner isn't worried, but I am, or AIBU?

What should I do?

I find it surprising so many people are saying they wouldn't have a problem with someone living in a van outside of their house. It would massively put me off the property.

Yes, and it is ok to use someone else's outside tap for water...wtf! Being homeless doesn't give you the right to trespass and steal.

They aren't trespassing or taking water. The OP has imagined that they might do that and is worried about what she has imagined.

What evidence is there of any trespass and stealing. It's not even ops house, if it's real then tell the sellers and solicitors.

OPs new neighbour.

First it was people, now its one man. First the van was there for weeks then only a week. No mention of how op knows he only goes out at night. The whole story is beginning to sound very odd.

I know at least 1 person loves there. They have been there at least since 28th August. I could swear it's before, but this date is when I saw their leg.

Is the rest of him very dirty or just the legs? I’m curious how you’ve seen so much of him if he only leaves the van at night. Are you shining a torch on him?

I'm always going past, this is a very small community. If someone like him leaves the van, it would be known in the community area.

So all of your sightings of these so-dirty-they-must-be-homeless legs have been after dark?

No. They/him stay in the van all day. Of course they would have to leave to food or toilet, my assumption is that they use it at night

So really you have absolutely no idea then, are you concerned enough about him to call social services or a homeless charity.

So in this great community where you live has anyone asked him if he is OK or thought he may need help

She doesn't live there! Hasn't even exchanged contracts yet, but is at the house every day - all day and at night, according to her comments.

I'm not sure the owner of homeless legs is the weird character in this story.
