I now fancy an MP

For some reason the last couple of days, I have started to develop a crush on the MP Darren Jones. He is looks wise my type, I think it's the glasses and being tall that probably is the reason why.

Am I crazy, I bet loads of people will tell me that I am?

Hmmm, he's OK. Nice friendly face. Smile I don't fancy him though. So he's all yours @readyer

THIS hunk of a man is more my type. 😍

Sod off you lot, he's MINE! MINE I tellz ya! 😆

You can have him. In fact, could you keep him tied to your bedposts for the next couple of years, so he stays off my tv screen? Do what you want to him in the meantime.

Dogaredabomb · 03/09/2025 21:18

I mean, he's alright but he's just Mr Normal 🤷🏼‍♂️

I, the other hand, have fancied both Boris Johnson and Keir Starmer. Also George W Bush. I'm flighty though.

Well look on the bright side at least it wasn’t Michael Portillo!

Ooo now he is fanciable!

I fancied Boris at one point - and George bush believe it or not.

Not Starmer though 🤮

Which Bush? I quite fancy Sr too, and Jimmy Carter was adorable.

Woody617 · 03/09/2025 21:25

He’s the one who lied on Question Time. That makes him an extremely undesirable individual in my mind.

Sr - wasn’t keen on the son

My MP crush is Nick Clegg. LOVE him!

Not sure I could ever fancy anyone called Darren/Daz or Garry/Gaz. In the (similar) words of Harry Burns:

"A Darren can open a bank account for you, if you need a new computer from Curry's, Darren's your man... but humpin' and pumpin' is not Darren's strong suit. It's the name. 'Do it to me Darren, you're an animal Darren, ride me big Darr-en.' Doesn't work".

My husband is called Darren.. it's a truly ghastly name. My mother was (probably still is) horrified by it. For a good few years, she called him David. My students also asked me why I often talk about my son, and never mention my husband... 😁

Thelnebriati · 03/09/2025 21:45

He kind of looks like Heinrich Himmler and actor Daniel Mays had a kid. I am on strong painkillers atm so it could be that.

I had a weird crush on Michael Portillo too! He’s repulsive in a very sexy way. I imagine Jilly Cooper often had him in her thoughts while writing her steamy novels.

NB I’m definitely not a Tory!

Doingtheboxerbeat · 03/09/2025 21:59

I developed a massive crush on him after seeing tiktoks of him dragging Post Office and Amazon bosses across the coals - he was utterly ruthless and I was quite turned on 😳. He looks harmless but he is certainly nothing of the sort. He also claimed to be from a very working class, raised in a council flat background.

I have since come to realise that I don't agree with many things he is saying and I was probably just hormonal. Sorry for the TMI folks.

Blogswife · 03/09/2025 22:01

Yes, I get it !

LakieLady · 03/09/2025 22:05

Clive Lewis for me. He's very good looking IRL, and he has a nice voice.

He spoke at an event I was at and he sat next to me in the pub afterwards. Positively gave me fanny gallops.

YABU though I worked with someone who had a crush on Ian Duncan Smith, which is not normal.

That's just weird.

Plmnki · 03/09/2025 22:09

Yuk sorry. He looked like a failed extra from The Thick of It. But whatever floats your boat :)

With a photo, too! Grin

Eww 😷 Have you got your beer goggles on?!

JambonetFromage · 03/09/2025 22:22

I also have a crush on Darren Jones - he seems clever principled, somewhat self-effacing and affable. But also quite ferocious as chair of the business select committee. Also rather cute.

Delighted to hear that people who have met him report he is a nice guy.

gellolatte · 03/09/2025 22:22

Ewww he has a tortoise neck

thingsineverthoughtidsay · 03/09/2025 22:22

I agree OP! I’ve had my eye on him for quite a while.

AliceMaforethought · 03/09/2025 22:29

He looks kind and approachable. I wouldn't say I fancy him, but YANBU.

leahnejade · 03/09/2025 22:48

I answered the door recently to my local Labour MP.
(Not Darren Jones, but quite young & better looking!).
So he stood there on his own in a rumpled shirt looking actually very fit. I gave him my email address for his newsletter and he smiled pleasantly. The woman across the square was very rude to him and he handled it very politely. I hope he will call round again. (Yes, unfortunately he is married lol).

Seriously though, he’s only been our MP for a year and he’s a local who’s already done a lot for our community. We never saw our old MP.

yep. I’ve always fancied Boris - it’s the exuberance, I think. The only other Mp I was weirdly attracted to was John Major. Can’t explain that one.
