Apparently most people in the UK have nicknames for their neighbours that they use within their household.

Mine are -
Their names - J & M (next door)
Next door not J & M (I actually know their names but still call them this)
Barky dog people
Penguin people
Policeman's family
Old boy

What are yours, and perhaps more interestingly... what do you think your neighbours call you?

We had
•Travis & Portishead to describe the neighbours GC with trendy names we couldn't remember
•Pole Dancing Shirley (from the street it looked like she had a pole in her bedroom but we finally realised it was a floor to ceiling trim on her otherwise fully mirrored wardrobe door)
•Heather and Pete at the front plus
Heather and Pete at the back as we had neighbours with the same names
•Shitface Bastard - horrible man who complained about everything including the kids playing perfectly normal childhood games in the cul de sac during the holidays

NewLifeLoading · 31/08/2025 01:39

The man in the moon
The horsy neighbours
The ones with the nice garden
The nosy fuckers on the end
And the Jock (although partner told me yesterday it can be offensive, so i will have to find another name for him)

coxesorangepippin · 31/08/2025 01:44

Bob the builder
The McNuggets
BMW
Uncle Fester
The Lentil Weavers

god knows what they say about us

starfishmummy · 31/08/2025 01:46

Don't really have any apart from one who moved out who was Mr Dimwit. Mr Dimwit was often seen using assorted garden power tools and be kitted up in items of safety gear for his upper body/face/head - but would wear flip flops. We used to hope thst we were not called upon to deal with amputated toes.

NewLifeLoading · 31/08/2025 01:48

I would be 'The woman we never see'

Eggsyummyeggs · 31/08/2025 01:53

The weird one.
Clown face.
Papa bear.

Bin Hitler.

Soppydawg · 31/08/2025 02:04

Mouth almighty (this was a phrase from my 70’s /80’s childhood and it’s fun to bring back old sayings but on this occasion I’d rather not but ndn has the loudest sweariest nasty shouty voice I’ve ever heard!!

Not a nickname, but my extremely talkative neighbour is called Roger. If he spots DH or me in the garden he witters on and on and it’s hard to escape for ages.

This is known in our house as being Rogered.

Ha, we have a similar neighbour called Rob. Sometimes we get Robbed.

KawasakiBabe · 31/08/2025 02:16

Him with the van (self explanatory)
Jill and Phil (Like Howard & Hilda, for those who remember, just so alike)
Awww poor, Bill (A totally lovely man but now has dementia)
Dave the Rave
Sarah”s dad at the end (I know his daughter)
Her straight over
The new lot (been here about 5 years now, but that’s what they’ve been called and pointless changing now

Her straight over calls me Cindy, it is not my name. DH and DC think it’s hilarious.

KawasakiBabe · 31/08/2025 02:18

Actually DH calls Dave the Rave, Dickhead Dave, since he nearly knocked him DH off his motorbike, lol

Agapornis · 31/08/2025 02:22

[Cat name]'s owners
Ginger shit cat's owners
Nice ginger's owner
Shit dog neighbours
Nice neighbours
(as opposed to)
Weird neighbours (they're in the garden about once a year, and cut back their roses when they're at their best).

We know the pets better than the owners. I suspect my nickname is cat lady or similar.

EdnaBeveridge · 31/08/2025 02:37

CC (Conservatory Cockup) it took 8 months

King Twat and Maggie -he thinks he owns The Road, she sounds like Thatcher

Temu Ken & Barbie - she drives a pink Fiat, he's got a motorbike, both very 'polished'

FiFi & Bert - elderly, very camp gentleman and his little dog (Bert is the dog)

literalbinbag · 31/08/2025 02:40

Mr Sheds - he bizarrely builds and dismantles sheds about 800 times a week

FortuneFaded · 31/08/2025 02:42

Makka Pakka - She is obsessed with people not walking on her lawn so she has stones on the edge of her grass which she paints white at least once per year and is always cleaning them with a wee sponge.
Briefcase Wanker - takes a briefcase on wheels to work.
Jess Bezos - called Jess and is always getting Amazon deliveries.

Some that don’t need an explanarion:
The Shits
Moaning Myrtle
Full Kit Wanker
Super Hans

FortuneFaded · 31/08/2025 02:50

I forgot about:

The Postman - isn’t a postman but wears shorts in all weather/seasons

Tick - Not the full ticket

Sonia - Plays the trombone in an orchestra. She is very nice but we don’t know her name and it is too late to ask

persianfairyfloss · 31/08/2025 02:56

The shitheads. They were incredibly noisy and unpleasant. We were so happy the day they finally moved out.

BetteDavisChin · 31/08/2025 03:00

Simon, Simon and Simon. All my neighbours are called Simon. We don’t bother differentiating much but when we do it’s Back Simon, Front Simon and Nosy Prick Simon.

Crochetandtea · 31/08/2025 04:00

Heart man ( heart surgeon)

All in our area but not close neighbours as we are quite rural.

Notashamed13 · 31/08/2025 04:08

OK. Live in a flat.

  • crazy lady
  • policeman
  • fucking Parisians (rude, obnoxious family only here for holidays)
  • sweet old lady
  • the Italians
  • football family

Me... I think they call us the batshit crazy family since my teen ds is autistic and can be loud at times when having a meltdown

bunniesonaboat · 31/08/2025 04:25

We have 'the Nissans', everyone that lives in the house drives a Nissan and when they get a new car it's always just another Nissan

Blingismything · 31/08/2025 04:38

We have Donald walking past our house regularly (Donald Trumpesque hairstyle) also Mr & Mrs Grey (they wear matching grey coats) and then there’s Yapper - she has a yappy little dog.

SpidersAreShitheads · 31/08/2025 05:05

This thread is funny 😂😂

We use their names for most but there’s a few others:

One house is named after their loud dog that they let bark for hours at any time of the day or night eg/Rover House

One house is Dance Rave Man

Another is Barky Dog House (we don’t know the name of the dog)

And lastly we have the Scuffers, also sometimes known as the Scabbies. Their grass is literally 6 feet high, they’ve got old furniture dumped in their garden, and they have a rat infestation in their back yard. They also scream at each other constantly, starting at 7am. (Allegedly the housing association is making attempts to sort them out but very little is happening). Scummy twats.

Oh technically there’s also Mad Bint - but that’s my DM who lives in the annexe 😂
