It's not that hot. Looks sloppy

They'll likely only do it once. As soon as they go down a slide like that and it tries to skin them, they'll learn.

MrsLJH · 29/08/2025 13:00

Wow

Not saying this is the situation here.

I'm the mum of an autistic child who will quite often be bare chested due to being sensitive to heat (runs hot, if gets to hot full meltdown) and yes I've seen the judging eyes and looks. We've worked up from fully stripping off.

I think what I am trying to say is your sloppy is someone else's small win.

Standards

Exactly - these boys (assume they are boys) will turn into men who think it's OK to stroll through the town centre topless (it's not OK).

Standards

@hellonuranus I don’t think you go to soft play for standards!

Oh don't be ridiculous, my now nearly 19 year old didn't like being dressed at all as a toddler but he doesn't now wander around the town naked.

Dairymilkisminging · 29/08/2025 12:29

I'd worry about friction burns

Exactly this.

martinagiraffe · 29/08/2025 13:15

Thank god I don't live in an area like that.

Pastaandoranges · 29/08/2025 13:35

Mine are usually in shorts and t shirt never topless at soft play, but I can't see how it is a major difference between a thin t shirt and no t shirt. Except maybe friction burns on slides would be my only concern.
One of my kids body temperature is always super high as they operate on a high battery and will often try and take their top off if they can in summer. They also wear shorts and t shirt in winter and never feel the cold unless it is like minus 2. If you touch his skin he is always hot. I guess some kids just get hot!!

HairsprayBabe · 29/08/2025 13:36

I was at softplay with my two and a few of their little mates yesterday - on little girl took her shirt and leggings off in the ball pit - her mum is one of my closest friends and was absolutely mortified - but that's five year olds for you they don't have fully developed brains and they do strange things - not sloppy just kids!

NB. Shirt and leggings were quickly retrieved and the child was dressed again in a matter of minuets

GonnaeNoDaeThatJustGonnaeNo · 29/08/2025 13:39

Take a kindle the next time you go.

what a thing to be bothered by 😳

DustlandFairytaleBeginning · 29/08/2025 13:40

There was a fully naked kid (3 or 4) at the public splash zone/ sand play area this week. I wouldn't do it but people do seem to have very different comfort levels on these things!

tripleginandtonic · 29/08/2025 13:47

It's play. It's for the child to enjoy. If they're happier with no tops I don't see the problem .

ClassicalQueen · 29/08/2025 13:48

I wouldn’t want my children running round shirtless at soft play.

Mumofteenandtween · 29/08/2025 13:48

They will be skinned on the slides!

You may not like it but it is, in fact, ok.

SlashBeef · 29/08/2025 13:51

God forbid. I'm cringing thinking of the friction burns.

Long trousers and socks, it's the rules here

Are tops in the rules too ? .

Missmarplesknittingbuddy · 29/08/2025 15:03

hellonuranus · 29/08/2025 13:04

We could all try

We can , and i am much more concerned about standards of behaviour, than clothing, when I take my GCs to soft play .

Marylou2 · 29/08/2025 15:31

I live in a not particularly fancy area. In the North. Can't remember ever seeing a child without at top at soft play.

itsgettingweird · 29/08/2025 15:37

Our soft play doesn’t allow it because of the risk of friction burns from slides.

Or rather didn’t when I took ds over a decade ago!

martinagiraffe · 29/08/2025 13:15

Nice assumption there.
How embarrassing. 🤭
Just to reassure you that working class children do not run about soft play shirtless.

Oh FFS, take the stick out 🙄

It’s a good job you didn’t see what I saw in coastal Sussex this weekend. You’d have been reaching for the smelling salts every time you passed a pub with outside seating!

hellonuranus · 29/08/2025 14:01

What, York?

Creepy crawlies (or The Web or whatever it is called now)? Those slides are really not suitable for a bare back!
