To ask how far you can run on a treadmill? And how often you exercise?!

And your age?

I’m 38 and can only manage 2 miles (3km).

I do this three times a week, is this enough?! Starting to worry about fitness as I head towards forty…

Cardiovascular fitness whilst important is not the crux for long term health. You should be prioritising strength training, as you age you lose your muscle mass, do whatever you can to retain it.

3 X strength sessions focusing on all areas, split as you like plus some cardio 2-3 times a week should see you right for long term health.

Obviously if your diet is crap the above is a waste of time, a body is built in the kitchen.

does your gym have a technogym/electrogym type set up?

30 min mix of cardio & strength on self adjusting machines. boring but quick

Not far, the treadmill bores me to death.
I do weights 2-3 x per week and either go out on the bike or try to walk around my work at lunch as that’s a good 5k round.

Thought that was a decent place. Do you mean men catcalling you. Seems odd in this day and age. Can't remember the last time I saw or heard a man shouting out of a white van, or someone one a building site wolf whistling at anyone, young or old, beauty or beast.

Anyway, I'm off thread. I run 3 miles on the treadmill just shy of 40 mins.

I agree @Purpleheatherrain but it seems to appeal to a lot of folk! I’m always baffled that nearly every treadmill in the gym will be in use when it’s really nice weather outside. Even if I wanted to run and then do weights I’d rather do a run round the block from the gym and then head indoors. But each to their own I guess and they can serve a purpose in winter or for folk who don’t live in places they feel safe running outside, particularly at night or in the dark.

I find it easier in my arthritic knees - especially if I set a slight incline.

Plus I usually combine it with other gym stuff.

Crikey, it's bloody awful around here 😢 I'm very envious of people who are able to go running in peace
