I have a few. Can't say them out loud (except to DH).

MIL & FIL - multi millionaires. Spend loads of money on themselves, lavish holidays, sports cars, only the very best restaurants etc. Never ever do they give a penny to their adult children (and one is flat broke). This is despite them both having been given property and a thriving business by a parent themselves.

My Dad - Overbearing, alcoholic, violent outbursts etc, all through our childhood. He's now decrepit and I have to do so much for him. I resent it.

Brother - keeps saying he's broke, whilst living like a rockstar. Just spend £20k on a holiday, lives in a £600k house, drives top of the range car, but often claims poverty - stop lying!

And breathe......

Anyone else?

I work with children and young people with disabilities.

There is nothing that I find more infuriating than parents who are exaggerating their children’s needs because they want more benefit money/respite care/to excuse their own crap parenting.

I regularly fantasise about telling them they’re talking shit and that everyone knows it. But, instead, I am limited to writing careful worded reports which are simply added to everyone else’s carefully written reports because there is absolutely no way that we have the time/energy to divert to fight their bullshit.

I had this too

Group of us got so concerned we reported her

She reported us to our professional bodies
I was investigated for four months

Would do it all over again if I had to

She was a disgrace

Her son had so many strengths and some of the crap she spouted was criminal

I've lived my entire life with severe misophonia and noises like lightly jingling of keys, chewing or a sniff send me into a tailspin. I've never said anything at work so have to sit and listen to the most horrendous sounds (only horrendous to me).

Vocal fry. See above. But worse. Makes my eyeballs itch.

Friends being late for dates, small gatherings etc. Is our time together really not important enough that you can leave home in good time to reach the location? It doesn't help that I am perpetually early for everything for fear of being late, so if I'm 20 minutes early and you are 30 minutes late means I've been hanging around for 50 minutes. Agree, my earliness isn't anyone else's problem though.

Getting pissed off just thinking about this!

Hotdesking in the office. Or rather, the fucking pompous stuck up managers (and its always managers) who refuse to book a desk like the rest of us, and just pick a desk at random without even bothering to check if anyone has booked it. They know this is the process, they just think theyre more important than it. It drives me up the fucking wall. It's so disrespectful and rude.

This morning I got to the desk I'd booked to find one of the usual culprits had put their stuff there. I moved it all immediately and when she reappeared told her I'd booked the desk that day.

I've complained to senior management, including my own line manager, who ignore it. It's always the same group of managers who do this, and I'm fed up of raising it as an issue and being the only own who does (other colleagues complain but never raise it). I despise hotdesking with a passion, and rude people even more so.

Mine is an ex colleague who referred to McDonalds as Mickey Dee’s

It used to make me feel homicidal.

Thank you - this really made me laugh 😆

Tradesmen who come out to quote and then don't get back to you and when you chase them up they say they're too busy, rather than give real reason thry don't want the work. One even advertised on our local Facebook group a short while after saying he was too busy.

My SIL is like this, her 5 yo DD is autistic and in nappies but won't even consider toilet training her because "it would be too overwhelming for her, she would never be able to do it, she'll be in nappies for life" but refuses to even try. Puts her in her room all day from morning until night locked behind a baby gate with a tablet and makes no effort to interact with her other than to fulfil her basic physical needs and then goes on about how her child's speech is terrible and she has social anxiety. If someone talks about another ND child her mother gets annoyed and offended and instantly says "well they aren't as bad as my DD, my DC is much worse".

This child was developing considerably better before she was able to claim benefits for her, now she only seems to regress and I dont believe its a natural regression at all. Rather than work with her they try keep her behind and worse off than she could be

This is awful. What does your brother/ bil say?
Can you report her to social services. Thus sounds like a combination of neglect and active abuse for financial gain

Crikeyalmighty · 26/08/2025 23:04

@VielleTruite gosh, mine is exactly the opposite, a lot of semi hip hop ( think OutKast maybe) mixed in with some ABBA and very recent semi dance stuff - and it’s a mixed class too but a lot of over 40s in fact a fair few over 60s ( including me)

Marmalady75 · 26/08/2025 23:05

The person at work who takes time off every month for the slightest issue. Currently off because their pet was ill and despite the full recovery, they feel sad about it. They had time off recently because they had “a windy tummy”.
on the back of that, the boss that lets them away with their bullshit because “that’s just the way they are”.

My dh will do the dishes and leave the basin full of the dirty water instead of pouring it down the sink. Just tip it out! If I come across a missed plate or piece of cutlery I will not be using the lukewarm great water. I’ll either leave it for the next was or (heavens forbid!) fill the basin with clean water.

The little thug who gave my dc a split lip. I don’t care if he has “issues”. My child did nothing wrong and is not a punching bag. And the teacher who failed to protect my son and several classmates from this violent child because “he has a right to an education too”. And the people who create this system.

People stood at the top of stairs/ in doorways. I just push past them now. Just move and stand out the bloody way especially on the tube!

A women I know absolutely boils my piss.

She has four children with various levels of neurodiversity, which is rough, I get it. I do, as well. She doesn't need to work because she is incredibly good at filling in the DLA forms for all her kids to maximise her claims for them - she definitely plays the system, she's said as much to me.

She constantly pleads poverty and has recently been getting her friends and family to donate money so one of her kids can take part in an activity that costs in excess of £1000. Great, lovely friends.

HOWEVER she constantly has new tattoos, goes away for girly weekends with her 'tribe' (vom), gets new piercings, goes on nights out, goes to massive stadium gigs and festivals - she's one of these who documents every second of her life on social media, and seems to believe everyone adores her - in the last year alone she's been on around 50 holidays, weekends away, gigs, tattoos, piercings, etc etc. The sheer, bare-faced cheek of begging for money when she's spending so much on herself is just staggering.

She's also buying a new 5 bedroom house in a lovely area because she 'impulsively' decided she needed a 'fresh start' from her current 5 bedroom house in a lovely area 🙄 Again, all documented on SM.

Her poor parents are constantly having to look after her unpleasant kids (unpleasant because she 'doesn't want to be a harsh parent' aka has never put any kind of boundaries in place and lets them have whatever they want) and all the pets she bought her kids because she just couldn't say no.

So many people think she's an absolute hypocritical piss-taker, I'm almost in awe of how totally oblivious she is.

And that's before all her affairs when she was married, judgemental bitching, holier than thou attitude...

🤣🤣🤣 @ the ‘tribe’

Contraversialcatergory · 26/08/2025 23:13

I fear I may become of those that talks with thei mouth full, as I am always so desperate to get my point across before I forget again

I also hate the terms ‘picky bits’ and ‘naps’ - I don’t raise cats and my daughters certainly don’t sleep lol

Crikeyalmighty · 26/08/2025 23:16

@taxguru oh my goodness yes - my FILs late ex partner was very fond of the ‘we worked hard’ - relating to her and her ex husband ( not my FIL) having done no more than 5 hours a week since her late 20s and was 70 by this point. Really boiled my piss as I had been back at work full time within 14 weeks with my son in late 90s ( and not by choice) - she had never paid a penny towards a mortgage or bills - either with her ex or with my FIL . Horrible right wing views too , not just the usual racism against Muslims etc but Germans, Polish - you name it .

Can’t relate

Yes, that must be annoying.

AmoozzBoosh · 26/08/2025 23:22

My lovely friends who say 'ladies' instead of women. That pisses me off but no way can I pull them up on it

💯

Also vocal fry as a pp mentioned. I enjoy the rest Is Politics and even Rory Stewart has picked up a vocal fry - sometimes it's so strong I give up on the podcast

Enigma54 · 26/08/2025 23:24

I’m on chemotherapy. It’s a pretty gruelling combination of drugs. I feel like shit most of the time, my mouth hurts, I’m bald and knackered. Everyone says “ stay strong and positive”

Wait for it “FUCK OFF! I’m
exhausted and fed up. YOU try this shit. Its hard. Fucking bloody pissing hard!”

There, said it!

My sister keeps getting filler in her lips. She thinks they look great, but they look awful. What's worse though, is I can’t always understand what she's saying as she's also had botox around her lips.

What's her number? I'll tell her.

Saracen · 26/08/2025 23:26

My learning disabled daughter's appalling grammar. I thought she was just delayed in this respect, but she's 19 and I am starting to worry that she's always going to talk like this.

Soitwillbefine · 26/08/2025 23:27

Visitors who say ‘right, we are off.’ Then start another conversation at the door for 6/7 minutes. Then leave. Then start another conversation at the car door for 6/7 minutes. Just say you’re going and bloody go, I don’t need a final act.

I know 4 people like this and I’m irrationally angry every time it happens and it ALWAYS happens.

Isittimeformynapyet · 26/08/2025 23:28

PaddlingSwan · 26/08/2025 17:46

People, who have no standards.

What, all people?

Or do you mean "people who have no standards" without the comma?

Crikeyalmighty · 26/08/2025 23:30

I really wish people would think twice when uttering such platitudes in your situation - I think it’s because people often don’t know what to say, but think they should say something.

TheArtfulNavyDreamer · 26/08/2025 23:31

When DH noisily watches the football on his iPad in a room where I’m watching a movie on TV. There are other rooms with TVs in them why can’t he sit in one of them instead of disturbing me with game noise and him shouting.

Tryonemoretime · 26/08/2025 23:35

The F word and the C word. I spent my early years in a tough mining village where people swore all the time - but no one never used those words.
Casual blasphemy. People don't use Muhammad's name in the same way. Why use Jesus'?
Apostrophes in the wrong places. Pass me a black marker pen....
People who use the last sheet of the loo roll and leave the cardboard roll on the hanger....
Sniffers. Use a tissue. Please.

Poorly spoken and articulated English - speech peppered with dropped aitches, glottal stops, double negatives and every sentence full of 'fillers' - "to be fair", "see what I mean"? and "like" amongst others.

Overuse of superlatives, particularly "super".

Sadly, it appears to be endemic now and, for me, at least, it is synonymous with fingernails being drawn down a blackboard and leaves me wanting to rip my ears off!

Our finance director (who only got the job because she had an affair with our then-married boss, Steve) is desperate to prove how intelligent she is, and begins EVERY email with the phrase "Steve and myself".

"Steve and myself have noticed that certain branches aren't filing their reciepts properly. Steve and myself would like to extend our congratulations to so-and-so for getting promoted." My favourite is "any issues please speak to myself."

Fuck off you thick twat.

My child free, stress free friend getting signed off work for 4 weeks with "stress" while I have been working my arse off over the summer hols, Paying a fortune for the kids to be in summer holiday clubs then having crushing mum guilt as I haven't seen them and we've done diddly squat this summer holidays apart from survive... feeling so cross it isn't her fault but she has nothing to be stressed about apart from deciding which colour to paint her toes 😬
Edit to add.. we also work together so her being off has just added to my work load and she's spent the last few weeks sunbathing and updating Instagram..normally I love her but she just doesn't have a clue what some of us are going through

Edited

AHHHHHH, I can identify with this.
Some people simply don't have a clue and don't care about impact on colleagues etc
