Found this bloody weird note….

Bit of a strange one. I finally got around to emptying my son’s schoolbag and amongst the utter rubbish (including a Batman figurine he insists isn’t his!) there was an envelope tucked inside with just “For You” written on it.

Inside was a list of instructions. Things like:

  • “Don’t forget to lock the back door at night.”
  • “Children should never sit on cold floors.”
  • “The blue cup is for milk, not juice.”
  • “Be careful who you trust with secrets.”

I asked DC where it came from and he just shrugged and said, dunno. Asked on my parent friends WhatsApp and they had no idea.

DH says I’m being dramatic and it’s probably nothing, but I feel really weird about it

i don’t even know what I’m asking but, wtf!

OP posts:
Moonlightdust · 20/08/2025 09:23

OP, you said the list says ‘things like..’ - was there more?

I would have a word with the school when he goes back. If it was in his school bag, it likely came from there so they may be able to shed some more light.

Far out, people are weird.

There is nothing spooky or sinister or creepy or strange about this. What are you all seeing that I'm not seeing?

And suggesting to email the school??? 🤣🤣🤣 You people need to get out more.

You people need to get out more.

From poster on an internet forum. 😆

Curryingfavour · 20/08/2025 09:28

It’s the sort of thing my oldest would have had in her school bag age 10 or 11 .
She is in her 30s now ..and reminds me of some sort of work out the clue game or even one of those Goosebumps books or another mystery older kids novel .
My other 2 had all sorts of random stuff in their school bags , scribbled notes with odd things written on .
But then again they’re all adults and grew up just before all the social media / TikTok stuff

Two Trees. Gloomy Water. Saucy Jane. Maggie knows.

Was there a map and an escaped convict involved?

Ah yes, perhaps he's planning a hike!

rainbowstardrops · 20/08/2025 09:36

Are you sure he hasn’t picked up an identical bag at school and this one isn’t his?

Tigergirl80 · 20/08/2025 09:37

JackGrealishsBobbySocks · 20/08/2025 00:16

I think you need to go into the dark kitchen by yourself now, after midnight, take a deep breath, pour some juice in the blue cup, and see what happens.

Make sure the back door is locked and don't look at the window

😂😂😂

Not funny

But it is funny 😂😂😂

billandtedsexcellentadventure · 20/08/2025 09:44

Could be something as simple as on the last day of term someone’s left it out and teacher has put it in his bag thinking it was his or someone else if his bag was near. Nothing to suggest it was his?! Or meant for him. Could ask school on his return.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 20/08/2025 09:45

Sensible advice all the same.

Maybe another child's parent wrote it.

My DM always taught is "only share a secret with a friend, if you are comfortable with other friends hearing it".

She also said don't sit on cold floors you'll get piles.

That poster isn’t “freaking out” or finding a random note with mundane sentences “creepy” and talking about horror films like some, though!

What else does the note say, OP?

Momstermash94 · 20/08/2025 09:52

I 100% think they are points of inspiration for a creative writing exercise, possibly from around Halloween if they wanted to make it fun and spooky while not being too scary by directly involving ghosts and zombies etc..
Or instructions to put together a little improv acting play with a group involving those points, we did stuff like that in primary school.

Please share the rest of the note I am so curious!

2024forthewin · 20/08/2025 09:56

Really really weird! Speak to the school immediately and hopefully it sheds some light

Dontlletmedownbruce · 20/08/2025 09:57

@WomanOfSteel did you just make those code words up or are they from a particular book or movie? It feels really familiar and I can't pin point it

PringlesTube · 20/08/2025 10:02

IridiumSky · 20/08/2025 00:39

Typical kids’ games.

Mind your own business, and stop worrying about nothing.

Leave the poor boy alone.

And put the Batman figure back.

Mind her own business? It’s her bloody child ffs 🙄 what a weird take.

op, it’s very strange, I would be freaked out too.

PassTheLemonDrizzle · 20/08/2025 10:19

The figurine makes me think these might be Riddler-style puzzles inspired by Batman. It’s probably just something written by another student as a fun code or game for a friend—maybe they’re both into comics or superheroes. I wouldn’t worry. It likely just ended up in your son’s bag by mistake.

OriginalSkang · 20/08/2025 10:19

I think this is could be some kind of English exercise? Like where they have to read some text and pick out the points from what was said? Or pick the correct point from what was said?

I would ask the school, because if not it does sound mildly threatening with the "lock the door" comment. And as other's have said, the "be careful who you trust" part is worrying too

DelilahMy · 20/08/2025 10:20

That reads like something to do with writing sentences in an English lesson. Maybe a teacher or a parent/grandparent wrote it out for a child they know to practice writing sentences and it was left on a desk and your son inadvertently swept it up with his books or something.

MrMucker · 20/08/2025 10:20

Again, it is an English language exercise on reported speech. So the challenge is to change "never sit on cold floors" into "he told us that we should never sit on cold floors" (example)
Each of the sentences works differently in terms of grammar.
Standard task for a 10 y/o.

DelilahMy · 20/08/2025 10:21

Sorry X post with @OriginalSkang

Why would a teacher have put that in an envelope with the words “for you” written on? My kids have never received work from a teacher in such a way.

okydokethen · 20/08/2025 10:24

I think it’s instructions for grandparents that’s been put in wrong child’s bag… from rather neurotic parents.

My guess would be it was a grandparent.

TheSummerof25 · 20/08/2025 10:36

It just sounds like kids prattling about being imaginative

CountryMouse22 · 20/08/2025 10:42

Most mysterious!

Cranberryavocado · 20/08/2025 10:42

It could have fallen out of someones school bag and got stuffed in yours in the end of term madness in school. I wouldnt be too freaked out, things like the back door and blue cup are obviously instructions for someone, and not your child. It could even have been something thats come from a book and used as a writing or reading excercise. I would just take it into school next term and ask to set your mind at ease. But otherwise forget about it.
